This is the best, concise yet comprehensive overview of NH’s 4000 footers on the whole of the internet. Cheers.

Fantastic takes! You didn't mention Zeacliff going up Zealand Trail tho. I plan to go back to that spot as often as possible!! It took my breath away as an unplanned and shocking sunrise moment at the beginning of z-bonds. Wide incredible views. Love to Zealand, definitely not a stinker (:

Hiked all over the usa. Love NH's highest and 52 lower ones better now. No crowds there. Many die on the 48 so beware. Pushing to get the list's done on time or on your planned day off. Every winter especially see folks getting eaten by these mountains. Will see them this coming winter too. Happens every year.

Thank you. I am an Adirondack 46ers. When I did those, I started with most of the better ones and the end was mostly the lesser ones. I want to work the other way when I get to New Hampshire.

When you were on South Carter, there should've been a vertical piece of wood on a tree to the left (if you came from Carter Dome). It had SOUTH CARTER 4430 carved in it. But I climbed it last in 2010, so it may need to be replaced or maybe it fell off. It was about 40 minutes past the Carter-Moriah trail sign

If I do Hale, I always do Hale Brook/Zealand loop. It makes it worth it, Zealand Trail might be the most beautiful trail in The Whites.

When I did Mt. Washington, got to the top to see a line for the summit. Where's the express lane for those that climbed it?!?!?! Still worth it, Mt. Katahdin in Maine is my next goal

Adams is a wise choice for #1! Looking back down on Star Lake and across to Madison is one of my favorite views in the Whites.

Great to see. The list is subjective, but that's how it should be - each of the 48 holds something for every one of us, so there's always room for all thoughts and ideas. "Traveling is better than arriving."(sometimes attributed to Walt Whitman - true source, unknown). Be well, stay safe.

Love the trail going up E Osceola from Greeley Pond, the Tripyramids (and the gigantic erratics S). Hiked there 50 years ago with a descendent of an original family.

Mountaineers greetings from the alps, the 4000 meters peak area. Hey, a wonderful video and door to the white mountains.

Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone. You perspective is much appreciated. I've done some of these climbs when I lived up north (now in southern NH) and would like to do more, but at my age I have to pick and choose carefully because my knees have a limited amount of hikes left in them. I wish I'd climbed more when I was closer to the Whites and had the time and stamina.

Done them all twice. Great video and it brings back so many good memories. Pretty much agree with your rankings. Happy to see the so called dreaded (LOL) Owls Head up in the rankings. I love that mountain. And I rank Carrigan up there more than you. Great job overall!!

Great video! Brave to make a list! 😊 A few thoughts. Talking with many hikers, I think most would put Owl’s Head much lower. Such a long hike for such a mediocre summit, though slides are fun. Mt Jackson is not a Presidential. It’s named after an early NH geologist. I suggest Lincoln and Lafayette be done as a loop. Up Falling Waters and down Old Bridle Path, so you get that super cool 2 miles or so ridge line. If anything that’s even cooler than the peaks, and it’s still only a little over 8 miles. Totally agree about Washington, shame to hike all the way up to a parking lot of cars and tourists. Huntington is an outstanding way up. Wife and I took our 9 year old twins up one summer day. I’ve later taken one of them Huntington a few times in the winter. Great fun. In fact, winter is our family favorite time to hike the Whites. Actually easier than summer, no bugs, fewer people, snow is beautiful! Thanks for the video!

Even if it’s not named after a president. It’s still a presidential. You can’t have 8 mountains in a range and then just not count one of them because of the name.
@rodc4334
@rodc4334 18 дней назад
@@fantasticfox6357 There a number of other peaks in the range not named for Presidents as well. Video was factually wrong about Jackson. It just isn’t named after President Jackson. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Traverse
@fantasticfox6357
@fantasticfox6357 18 дней назад
@@rodc4334 Yeah ok if you want to do the presidential traverse and not include Jackson I get it. But if you look at that range I feel like Jackson is included. It doesn’t make sense to have the presidential range and then not include Jackson which is only a couple miles away from pierce with not much prominence between them.
@rodc4334
@rodc4334 18 дней назад
@@fantasticfox6357 I went back and reviewed the video. My mistake, he does not say it was named after a President. I often hear that, and jumped to a conclusion. I don't have an issue with saying it is a Presidential peak in the sense of being part of the Presidential range. My only objection is when people say it is named after President Jackson. FWIW I banged out a solo one day traverse to celebrate my 60th birthday and included it, as you note it is only an extra two miles, and is over 4,000 ft. But many people don't, and I think that is ok.
@fantasticfox6357
@fantasticfox6357 18 дней назад
@@rodc4334 Congrats on the traverse, that seems like a really tough hike. I’m from Ohio and just started the 48 last year. 3 trips out there so far and I’ve done 20 of the peaks. Presidential traverse is on my bucket list, hopefully I’ll get to do it someday. I’m 15 so we’re trying to get all 48 by the time I graduate. It’s been fun.

Great review. Totally agree with Washington. Loved going up Ammo to Monroe and then down tge Gulf and Jewell. Not a fan of the summit craziness. Planning on finishing on Madison by September 2023.

Great video! May I ask what trail/ loop you would recommend for crossing off multiple mountains? I’ve done about 5 of the 48 and saving the more challenging hikes for when I get more endurance. I’m a slow hiker.

Mt Garfield. Believe that it is the highest tent site location in the Whites (?). That's why I have been there so much.

Here's an idea, if you've done the winter list (I haven't, too slow and cold phobic for the really long ones). Rate them according to winter. My daughter is 25% finished; I am one behind because I couldn't get the last several hundred feet of Jackson.
@GetUpTheMountains
@GetUpTheMountains 11 месяцев назад
It would certainly be a different order because in winter several routes are not available or not feasible, making some trips totally different. For instance, the Tripyramids are better approached from the Pine Bend trail than the loop and slides. Isolation has some bushwhacks you can do from the Rocky Branch trail, and going up Glen Boulder to Boott Spur would be craziness. I did Owls Head as a day hike in the summer, but you’d have to camp it out in the winter.

I really liked that the trails you took weren't always the customary (easy) ones. That kept me interested wondering which way you'd go. Forgive me (please forgive me, it's not a criticism of you in particular) but I have to correct your pronunciation of some White Mtn place/ names. If I don't correct you, viewers will think the way you pronounce them is correct and it's not. You are correct on Moosilauke; said with or without the E. Pemigewasset is pema- Ja- wasset. Guyot is a French spelling so, GEE-O, that's not Gee as in Oh Gee!! But Gee as in Geek. Willey is Willie, if it were wiley (like Wile-E- coyote😁) it would have only one L. I think that's it. Q: have you hiked in the Mahoosucs yet? Small, but gnarly.
