Wow, we have VERY different opinions on what looks good. I adore the Penhaligon’s bottles and I love that Hermes Eau de Merveilles bottle . I hate Creed and Kayali.
I love the Tocca bottles. It’s so fancy and cottagecore-like. Apparently it’s inspired by Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage. I also love that they name their perfumes from particular women icons, both personal and international. I only love one perfume from their line though, which is Colette, named after a French writer. As a lover of books, it tickles my fancy.
Oh yes, they're so pretty! Speaking of, I just got a sample of BomBon by House of Bo and it reminds me of a Tocca fragrance I got at Anthropologie probably 15 years ago. Anyone have a guess as to what it might be?
I feel the need to shout out Montale as the ugliest bottles, I’m not interested in their fragrances at all because of the metal bottle it looks like hairspray
Having a limited budget for beauty and fragrance products, I absolutely judge by the bottle! If I don't love the bottle (or the name) it's an easy way convince myself I don't need it!
I love a beautiful bottle and the feel of the bottle. It’s does affect my desire to buy. Maybe that doesn’t make sense to some people but to me perfume is an overall sensory experience and a bad bottle can ruin the experience.
Love the new Diptyque bottles too! They've got the best atomiser as well. The mist it creates is like a dream cloud.. Alas the price tag though! Akro bottles are the ultimate atrocious for me! 🤐
I broke up with my boyfriend today, saw this video and it made me smile. I've been a sobbing mess and if anyone has any tips how to stay okay when I don't have many people to reach out to, I'd appreciate that. ps.: my favourite bottle in my collection is probably Bewitching Yasmine. It has a cat head!
@@adabunny5212 ah that sucks. first thing I do is make a list of all the reasons I wanted to break up with him, so I don’t get weak and backtrack. Don’t get drunk. Take good care of yourself and tomorrow get outside in the sun. It may take a while to stop being weepy but that’s ok. Hug your pet if you have one - they are so soothing when you’re down. you’ve made room for the right person to come in when you’re ready. There’s not enough time in life to waste on so-so. Hope this helps! ❤️🙏🏻
Sorry to hear that. But have in mind that everything is for the best. I know because i have been there , not ones, and it brake me each time. But every time i see that it was for the best for me. And it makes me stronger and better, and teaches me to love me more. For everyone it’s the same . For you too
The bottle really influences my choices. I only ever plan to have a few full size bottles and I want them to be nice. I’m currently in love with Paco Rabane Fame and the little robot in a dress is just not super cute to me so I’m torn.
I literally only bought it right after it launched for the bottle! I’ve probably worn it less than 10 times since then lol kind of boring. She’s cute on my bookcase tho
Great video I agree with the black and white colors being more neutral but one thing that I've noticed I associate with bottles like byredo and diptyque is I expect they'll be "clean" light scents with a light color juice. In the case of both those brands it's pretty accurate though. Liis is another one that's accurate to how the fragrances smell. It would be strange for example to smell something like guidance from a byredo bottle ! And yes I also sometimes forget which byredo was the one I liked also because of the bottles ...
Thank you! I’m usually looking for excuses not to buy things, so if I don’t like the bottle then that makes it easy. I only want to own perfumes that I love to wear AND see on my vanity ❤
not gonna lie your vids are the only thing that motivate me to do anything… cleaning my room: watching perfumerism, doing homework: watching perfumerism, eating: watching perfumerism ❤️ cant wait for the next vid🎉
Mind Games bottles are beautiful and extremely luxurious. The thick glass at the bottom is for weight and stability, ie the thing you said was missing from the PDM bottles. It’s wild that you would rank Byredo above Mind Games when they’re in the same price range
I don't like Mind Games because it feels like more packaging than necessary, the metal shows fingerprints so it constantly looks dirty unless you polish it after touching it, and I do not find them personally attractive. Byredo I think looks approachable and elegant!
Another fun video to watch! One fragrance that I will never buy because of its bottle is Ariana Grande Cloud. I love the scent but the bottle is so huge and clunky. I would put that one in the Atrocious category in a heartbeat!
It just remove the plastic base, and use it to hold small things on my desk, like business cards, appt cards etc. could hold other things too. The bottle looks much better too.
I love you calling out font. I've heard good things about Sarah Baker perfumes but that price for a Sans Serif sticker?!? No ma'am. Also prettiest bottles: Floraiku❤
Super cool concept! In my collection, my 4 favorite bottles are the Guerlain Shalimar bottles, the original GPG Fragile in the snow globe concept, Ramon Monegal’s jewel like tops, and the stunning blue glass of Milano Fragrance.
The Orabella fragrances actually do stand on their side , no stand needed . The side with the fragrance name has a slightly thicker side the shape isn’t symmetrical. I ain’t saying she still don’t fall down , but you can sorta get it to take up less space . Ps- the window2soul specifically reminds me of the villain from power rangers 😂
I like the magnet on the Phlur bottles. They are sort of a classier Snif bottle with a Byredo base with color. I love a simple classy bottle but I also enjoy a big tacky bottle. Lattafa can get pretty maximalists.
Glossier only accounting for right-handed folks is so interesting to me; I like thinking about design and our biases, and it's so easy to exclude a whole group of people without realizing!
When you were talking about color association in perfumes and mentioned blue, I wanted to say that my mom has this "trick" where she always picks the blue variant of a perfume when she can't smell it to test it. And i find that this works for me as well, like if a line has 5 color variants, out of them all the blue one will always smell best to me out of the bunch. Also Im not a fan of Mugler but the star bottle is so cute, avon had a star bottle for their pur blanca fragrance, it was a holiday edition from like 2003 and I still have it at home :D
Great video, I love this concept! For instance, I am super intrigued by House of Sillage, but for the price, those bottles are sooooo tacky! On the other hand, the Burberry Her fragrances not only have lovely bottles but the atomizers are divine! The atomizer alone makes me want to buy all the flankers!
We have very different opinions. I pretty much hate all minimalist bottles, I just think they’re so uninspired and boring. I much prefer maximalist, “quirky” or “fantasy-like” styles, such as the Angel bottle by Mugler or the Orebella bottles. The Orebella bottle reminds me so much of Aura by Mugler, the bottles have a similar heart/jewel shape.
This time of year all of the magazines are coming out with "Best of Fragrance" lists, and I always cruise those to see if there are any surprises and I wish we could get a hot take in them. Theres at least one brand that seems to be on every list with soooo expensive fragrances that i never ever ever hear a single person talking about (Krieger?)
what are your favorite fragrance sites similar to fragrantica? in another video you said you didnt like fragrantica that much in terms of being user friendly, so im curious!
This is a fun one that I just couldn’t not watch 😄 Okay, gotta admit I judge hard on the looks when it comes to the bottles. Don’t get me wrong if the juice smells fabulous to me I can look past the bottle and have do so. But I am super picky about the bottles. Some of those middle eastern brands are just so so hideous.
This may sound horrible but, If I don’t like the packaging I will NOT buy a fragrance. Idc if people are saying it’s the best juice in the world. There are plenty of beautiful fragrances in beautiful bottles, so i refuse to buy an ugly one
do u like how the bottega perfume smells? i smelled all of them in store recently and i only like alchemie. the smell down was better but not great for me
I really prefer simple minimalistic bottles (like Byredo, clean, le labo, dedcool) or cute/feminine ones (phlur, 7 virtues, floral street, nest, ledda, glossier, Liis) I also love the Diptyque! I hate Montale, Bond no9, Xerjoff, mind games, penhaligons, de marly, sniff) it’s like they went out of their way to design something creative but I think they’re ugly.. try hard you know?
You put into words about what I thought about Thameen. I don’t want that blue bottle on my shelf because it looks too masculine (don’t have the same issue with deep n desire lol) 😂
I really like a nice glass bottle, not into any that look plastic, it has put me off smelling the daisy line because of the flowers. I want to try delina but hate that bottle, seems tacky to me. A really enjoyable video
Totally agree about LoveShackFancy! The top on mine always falls off, and it looks so cheap. Plus, the label on mine is crooked 🙄 The only other in my collection that's atrocious is my Sí Passione by Giorgio Armani. The scent is not bad, but I hate the bottle. It reminds me of the late 80s or early 90s.
Argos bottles are insaneeee I also love Dries Van Noten and Alexandre J.'s Art Nouveau collection. But when I think of ugly bottles I think of Kyse like they're actually repulsive, and I hate JPG it's so tacky
Fun video! I do not like minimalist bottles. I find them boring and too clinical, or the brand did not bother to put effort into the design. At the same time, I find many over the top designs atrocious. Penhaligon's animal head bottle is the classic example. Most ugly! I love PDM's feminine bottles. Annick Goutal's and Fragonard's. Roja bottles I find very classy.
Vilhelm is my favorite house but the yellow reminds me of mac n cheese. BUT it is so good to set the brand apart, like that color is Vilhem yellow to me. And for $300+ the Amouge is ugly, the lids look phallic. like a tip. sorry but its true😬
I agree on some but completely disagree on others. Replica bottles look like spray paint cans that are missing their cap. Stupid expensive for cheap looking bottles. Look like a garage project to me
I love clear or clear colored Xerjoff bottles and would totally display them if they didn’t have expensive juice in them. In the meantime they are stored in all packaging in a dark cool closet. 😢 When they are empty, they will go on display. That said, the “velour” style is a complete turn off.
This video speaks to me on a deep level. An expensive lesson I’ve learned about myself is I will not buy a fragrance whose bottle is atrocious or kitschy. For example, I held off on buying Killian’s Princess for so long bc I hate the font (ultimately I did get it and she’s one of my faves, but she goes in the back lol). Similarly, I prefer the look of smaller bottles, so unless I can get a 50ml I will hesitant. I felt like a psycho for caring so much so your video was validating to see someone else have such strong opinions 😂❤
My favorite out of my collection is Dior Pure Poison. I love the way it feels like a magic potion in my hand. Simple but still elegant and intresting. The worst bottles are Mugler. Don' t even want to try them because of the bottles.
I kept seeing a toxic spiritual guy cause he smelled like incense 😂 and now my healthy boyfriend wears azzaro the most wanted , please can I have a what male scents say about them short, also replica bottles feel so witchy and cute to have on my dresser 🥲
The Bond no9 and House of Sillage bottles are the ugliest ever created. And for that price, ridiculous! I'd rather showcase the stupid Good Girl stiletto than those kitschy eyesores.
I understand it’s important to diversify content as a perfume RU-vidr, but I don’t care about the bottles. Rouge malachite could come in a paper bag I would still buy it.
The purpose of this video is not to “diversify content.” Packaging is the core of brand identity, and thus a tool to analyze trends and consumer preferences. You might not care, and I won’t try to change your mind. That does not mean it is not worth talking about.
Personally I really wouldn't get a perfume in an ugly bottle even if it smells good, the eyesore is just as bad as an awkward note that you don't like in a perfume
