She's always ranked towards the bottom bc her voice is "boring" and it makes me so upset man 😭 I love Kanade so much and I think her voice being softer than the rest of the group is so very fitting for her character. She's the peace keeper and is by far the most calm/level headed character?? Her voice isn't by any means boring it's on god one of the most relaxing voices in the game. Kanade solos

Just wanted to say, Mafuyu’s voice sounds like that in some covers because she’s in pain. In her solo cover of bug, she sounds like that because her va is trying to convey Mafuyu’s pain. This isn’t hate at all btw! I think your opinion is valid!! Make sure you eat and stay hydrated xx

I’m actually really surprised Mafuyu’s ranking is low. In my opinion, she sang really good.

Ain’t no way An’s voice is a the very bottom 😨, I know that there are hits and misses but honestly there are far more hits than misses in my opinion. Not to mention her voice has gotten much better in the recent songs that VBS has done

I do agree that her voice is a hit or miss in some covers. she sounds strained in some of them, but I love her voice in some songs like alter ego. because in that she uses a lower voice unlike in most vbs songs instead and it sounds amazing. her voice is unique and that’s why I love it so much. it’s just the execution that are a 50/50 for me. I hope to listen to more of an’s deep singing voice in future covers.

I realize now that a lot of fans prefer lower voices over higher ones because they get "grating" or whatever. I'm the opposite, especially if those high voices can also utilize vibrato and a good piano dynamic. Honami, Kohane, Minori, and Nene fit this, but they all unfortunately get ranked so low because people prefer lower voices like Shiho and Mizuki.

FINALLY someone who agrees with me about An and Nene's voices, idk they're both amazing singers but they're just not my favorite tbh. This list is like perfect even though I am personally obsessed with Ichika's voice I respect your opinion, Shiho is absolutely incredible. Also I ngl agree with that Mizuki ranking even though the comments seem to think otherwise lol. Also love seeing the higher rankings for Haruka, Honami, and Saki, since people always rank them so low on these lists (idk why). Love seeing rankings like this!!

MMJ: Haruka Her voice is so underrated! She sounds heavenly in all her covers VBS: Toya OMG, HIS VOICE IS SO PERFECT?! I just feel like he is so powerful yet soft, like Mafuyu, just a bit better WxS: Rui His V/A is definitely one of the most talented people out there. He never misses N25: Mafuyu Ok, lots of people choose Mizuki or Ena as their highest N25 voice, but HEAR ME OUT, her voice is so addicting and never ever misses

My list 20: Tsukasa (1.5/10) - I agree the character voice fits perfectly - but unfortunately I dislike Tsukasa as a character - the only character that I do not like a single alt vocal of 19: Emu (4/10) - I think her voice is adorable when she sings in her lower pitches - but I have a noise sensitivity and her higher range makes me physically nauseous - More Netoge less Dance Robot 18: Akito (5/10) - solid vocals - would be higher if they let him sing with kohane more - kashika high notes is the only time he's ever done anything interesting 17: An (5/10) - trading less refined technique for more spunk and character is interesting but sometimes she leans too far - pairs really well with Touya (ChiReco and Alter Ego changed my life) - really comparable to Akito and admittedly only over him because of my big fat lesbian bias 16: Rui (5.5/10) - I get what they're going for but it isn't for me - I don't really have a technical reason for this one tbh its just bad vibes 15: Kohane (6/10) - when I made the first draft of this list she was like 9th - then I kept moving her further and further down as I was unable to name much I really like about her voice - kind of just a better Akito where she is fundamentally very solid but not super interesting 14: Minori (6.5/10) - she is my second favorite this makes me sad - great when singing prechorus or in groups but loud instrumentals tend to drown her out (Worldwide Wander and Tenshi soloes especially are guilty here) - her voice is a perfect fit for the softer side of the idol genre but I wish she were more versatile 13: Nene (7/10) - I find her voice very cute and she has a surprising amount of power - interesting to listen to and generally pleasant to the ear - not a standout 12: Shiho (8/10) - ordering got very difficult from here but I genuinely love all vocalists from here on out - but Shiho is the most hit or miss for me - she sounds incredible in her element but gets taken out of it too often for songs like Lost One's Weeping and her Stella solo - despite this somehow manages to nail From Tokyo, also sounds great in Bokuramada and Calc - wish I had more bias towards her cause I feel bad putting her this low 11: Ichika (8/10) - would probably be 5th or 6th if ColoPalu didn't make it their mission to make me so sick of her it drives me to hatred - struggles on faster, higher songs like Ghost Rule and Roku but otherwise sounds great, especially on slower songs like [1] and Made to Order - extremely technically skilled, the main vocalist of the overarching game for a reason 10: Saki (8/10) - dares to ask the question, "what if we gave tsukasa a likable character trait" - has probably the weakest technical skill in the game but makes up for it with some of the best character-voice synergy I've ever heard - so fun and bubbly it brings a smile to my face every time, but unfortunately featured sparingly and not given much time to shine - Saki Stella vocal where 9: Touya (8.5/10) - breaking the anti-masculine vocal (this is a half truth touya is #girl in my heart) - smooth, rich, powerful, ranged vocals touya has it all - incredible potential as a lead vocalist that only feels properly utilized in Alter Ego, where touya doesn't even lead - held back by dev Antouyaphobia (they are a top 5 vocal pairing devs I prommy) 8: Ena (8.5/10) - similar to Nene but with a higher ceiling for what it feels like she's capable of - tends to work better in duos and group covers than on her own - strange dissonance between voice and character, for someone who frequently lashes out in anger and has an inferiority complex she rarely sounds angry and frequently sounds confident and self assured 7: Kanade (9/10) - the most consistent voice in the game - has never sounded bad but rarely pulls out vocals feats - but when she does... goddamn. MKDR solo is the most emotive I think she's ever sounded and it elevated her from ok to great 6: Mafuyu (9/10) - has almost the opposite problem as Ena where its surprising the emotionless girl has such emotional singing - her voice left by far the strongest first impression on me and that has not changed in the slightest - difficult to place but her voice has a quality to it thats completely unique 5: Shizuku (9/10) - voice of an actual angel - similar to Minori where her voice feels mostly tailored to softer idol songs except her voice is so good that it Does Not Matter - has a little more power in her voice than 4: Airi (10/10) - my favourite character-voice synergy in the game to the point where she was guaranteed a spot in at top 8 off it alone - excellent mix of cute, sassy, and tsundere that not only fits her but also the songs she sings - technically solid and versatile enough to elevate her to this point but she is admittedly a bit of a one trick with just this one massive strength 3: Honami (10/10) - Honami's voice is soft and graceful and adorable and its exactly what Leo/Need needs to be balanced out - her tone feels very warm and soft I feel like I'm being hugged - the best collective set of altvocals of any character in the game - underrated as fuck 2: Haruka (11/10) - also underrated as fuck - absolute power vocalist - her voice took a while to grow on me but its incredible the range she has - she manages to perfectly convey grace and elegance while still retaining an emotional tone 1: Mizuki (11/10) - my favourite character, my beloved, my scrimblo - incredible power and versatility with just the right amount of Mizuki cheekiness when called for - Has never sounded bad - mmmmztidtkxx gender voice envy Wow I spent more time rambling than I planned to
