dayostical Zion def had more hype going into the draft, but this is from highschool, and Zion wasn’t even considered the number one pick coming out of hs
Bill Walker (his HS teammate) was hyped too at the time. Hitting windmills in traffic, incredible hops but never replicated the same skill in the league.
True, also Greg Oden he was being compared to the all time great bigs probably would have been if not for injuries most years KD would’ve been number one overall pick but Greg Oden was seen as a once in a generation type of big man.
J'me rappelle de la hype de Zion tout le monde en parlait c'était un truc de fou, après je peux pas trop comparé avec LeBron j'étais même pas encore né 😂
It’s Lebron, no contest. ESPN isn’t out here broadcasting high school games for anyone else. I will say, I know it’s going back a bit, but Kwame Brown had crazy hype.
Crazy hearing "Wiggins was the first prospect of my time" when I remember hearing about Lebron in his sophomore year at high school.... damn I'm getting old lol
If you went as far back as LeBron then you completely missed Greg Oden who everyone thought was going to be the next great big like Shaq, hence why he got drafted over KD. OJ Mayo also had insane hype too.
Oden got a lot of his hype from his time at OSU. You truly don't understand how absurd the hype was for LeBron back then. The hype was literally so high that LeBron actually had to reach the levels he's reached to meet the hype. If he wasn't a top 5 all time player, he wouldn't have met the hype. That is how great the hype was.
Austin Rivers should have at least gotten an honorable mention. #1 player in his class and was really the only player with great mixtapes from that year. Plus being an NBA coaches son and going to Duke, people thought he was gonna be the next top NBA pg when he was at Winter Park.
2015- Karl Anthony-Towns- So far living up to the hype. Needs a better team D'angelo Russell- Not doing so great but not bad at all Jahil Okafor- 😂😂😂 2016- Ben Simmons- Doing good but needs a freakin' jumpshot Brandon Ingram- Just now breaking into stardom Jaylen Brown- Solid player 2017- Markelle Fultz- 😂😂😂 Lonzo Ball- Finally broke away from his dad and he's no longer a daddy''s boy. Great future ahead Jayson Taytum- Bonafide stud. Shouldve been #1 pick 2018- Deadre Ayton-😂😂😂 Marvin Bagley- Gotta stay healthy Luka Doncic- Superstar in the making 2019- Zion Williamson- Superstar in the making Ja Morant- Superstar in the making RJ Barrett- Superstar in the making
0:48 Bro, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, no one knows who Emoni Bates aside from the HS basketball scene; everyone in the country knew who the fuck Lew Alcindor was when he was in college. Just look up 'The Game of the Century', and tell me that isn't bigger than what Bates does in podunk HS and AAU arenas.
john wall was the most hyped player i know, the man had his on dance called the "THE JOHN WALL'' , and his own song called DO THE JOHN WALL by troop 4. before he ever played a game for kentucky
How does one measure hype? What about players before the internet? Like the ones people were talking about on TV? People didn't know about some of these players before their senior year
LeBron might be more hype than Zion in US, but in global as a whole nobody knows LeBron in highschool outside of US. Zion was known throughout the world as a highschool superstar. Even some 10 year old kid in my country knew who Zion was that's how popular he is. You keep on saying social media plays the big role that's why you didn't put Kareem and other old dudes but when it comes to Zion you said it's just all because of social media. TBH most of you NBA channels are just NBA fanboy and are very bias.
lamelo and lonzo should be higher than everyone but bron, hype is more than just ranking, it’s the videos/expectations and the talk. For two years these boys were the only thing on espn and other sports broadcasts. Both are top 12 in social media in the nba yet both aren’t even top 40 in the nba 😹They’ve had insane hype especially with chino hills being the best high school team… ever.
FALSE! Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (the Lew Alcinder) was more known & hyped than all the 2000s players except LeBron. Kareem was more known then all these folks without the internet. Remember, Kareem played HS hoops in HARLEM, NY! He was a center when centers ruled bball. He signed to UCLA when they were the top program in the 2nd biggest TV market.
Then you didn’t even add lance Stephenson who had a whole mtv show in high school 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ cmon bro you gotta research better dude. Change the title to the last 20 years
Lol he already explained it on the first few minutes that new generation players get more hype than the older because of better technology. Are you dumb?
Greg Oden should be on here and probably at number 2. Everyone was saying he was the next great big man of his generation and had unbelievable hype coming out since that was the first year you couldn’t go straight to the pros. Kevin Durant was in that same class and he was so hyped that Lemarcus Aldridge, PJ tucker (who was big 12 player of the year and a second round pick, and Daniel Gibson all left Texas because they knew their stock was going down with him coming in and Oden was more hyped then Durant.
As far as the players with the most hype coming out of highschool in the last 10-20 years I would say Lebron James Zion Williamson O.J. Mayo Kwame Brown Sebastian Telfair Greg Oden Kevin durant Austin Rivers Lonzo Ball Lamelo Ball
Sebastian Telfair? Come on now. There is no way Barrett deserves to be on here over Sebastian Telfair. Telfair is one of the most hyped high school players in the history of basketball. OJ Mayo should be on here too.
Bruh change the title to "most hyped highschool players that you know of" because even if we go by the last 20 years then OJ Mayo is second only to LeBron followed by Rj Barrett and Greg Oden
