Because I had to throw in a “what about this guy?” Siakam isn’t even on that HM list?? I see a world where the Pacers are a top 3 seed and Siakam is averaging 26/8/6 and Haliburton is at 19/10/4 and misses time and Siakam gets some votes.
If the Thunder are supposed to be so far and away the best team in the west who are expected to be the #1 seed why does Luka have to win more games than Shai to win MVP? For Luka to be MVP he needs to outscore Shai and be the better playmaker and win more games with what everyone considers an inferior roster? Then even if he does all that we are going to hear about how the Mavs didn't suck enough when Luka went to the bench or some other ridiculous excuse. Jokic wasn't the #1 seed in any of his 3 MVP seasons. He didn't need to win more games than Shai to win MVP last season. This is the type of goal post moving bullshit that pisses people off.
I think Jayson Tatum unfortunately suffers from “Vanilla Ice-cream syndrome”. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not talking about your run of the mill, generic vanilla ice-cream. He is that gourmet, French Vanilla, vanilla bean from the stalk ice-cream. In a league where we’re blessed by monster SGA/Doncic stat lines, ridiculous advanced stat Jokic runs, Embiid eating down buckets; it just seems like Tatum is the steady Vanilla of the group. He’ll sprinkle in some dominant games and be beyond steady the rest of the time; but realistically who’s picking vanilla when there’s a double choc chip or a salted caramel on offer?
Not sure what the odds are, but I’d bet heavy on Giannis. Lowered expectations for the first time in 5 years and we all know that outperforming expectations is the easiest way to get votes.
Unlikely Ant will get it unless he finally gets a superstar whistle and get get to 30/5/5 but man don’t act like the wolves weren’t the number 1 seed all season long. They only lost it the last month when Karl missed 18 games, like they were the best record most for almost 3 months straight 😭
I was a suns believer early last season but they showed they’ll go to ISO ball so easily lol Booker should take the lead but deferred to KD a lot and Beal was awful af in playoffs
Jalen Brown should be up there. Not a celtics fan but it was due to him they won last year imo, I think he is consistent and more reliable to show up game in game out compared to Tatum
I think Wemby has a better chance than booker, Mitchell and maybe even Steph Curry. It's pretty close with Steph but if he comes out and is scoring 26 points and still getting three blocks and lines up to be the defensive player of the year I think he might be top six or seven in voting. I think adding Chris Paul is going to definitely increase Victor's scoring. His team almost beat the Americans in the Olympics. It took Steph Curry going crazy to stop that from happening. I have him by the bar.
The biggest thing holding Victor back is his team. If the Spurs could get to the playoffs I agree with what you’re saying but I just don’t see that happening next year in the west.
@@declanwilliams9277 I agree that it's unlikely but if he steps up to the next level in his sophomore year he could definitely make the top five. He could be second Team all NBA since its positionless now. It would be hard to jump ahead of Jokic and Embiid at center if it were still done by positions.
@@declanwilliams9277 can't remember if I reply to this but I don't see them going to the playoffs either. All of the players on that team besides the often injured Chris Paul are way too young and some of them don't have quite enough talent to be starting in the NBA in my opinion. I could be dissuaded if they all take a big jump this year but I think they're still a couple years away from competing for a home court spot in the playoffs. A one-man team is only going to go so far. I don't trust any of the other talent on that team though like I said if they take a step up this year then I'm willing to say that I'm wrong. I hope Stephon Castle is a breakout player.
The top five players at the table are all foreign born. Just saying. Afterwards every player in the MVP conversation is American besides Victor. He is the lowest-ranked foreign player.
7th is a solid spot but have to account for Brunson playing in the Mecca, the big market NY Knicks. Assuming they’re successful and he performs at a similar high level there will be a disproportionate amount of attention and media coverage. This often contributes significantly to the MVP narrative.
Wemby will get his DPOY before he sniffs an MVP. Remember how bad Pop was tanking his success, it won’t happen for many years. He should be exactly where AD is, and they’re gonna have a similar trajectory in terms of bad teams, great player, but defence first not MVP type talk.
1:08:25 out of principle i dislike tatum because he’s a celtic. other than that he’s a down to earth dude. i do think he has really bad stretches. like when tatum is bad he is BAD. i think that makes him look bad
