Ranking the Flat Rides of Australia’s Theme Parks

First, I went to every theme park in Australia. Then, I ranked all the coasters. But the roller coasters were only half the fun. From one of the world’s tallest drop towers to the vintage spinning rides of Luna Park, there was a tremendous mix of flat rides that I have experienced in my travels. So without further ado, let’s dive into a ranking. Let’s talk about all of the permanent flat rides in Australia, and rank them from worst to best. This is my full ranking of every major flat ride in Australia!

The Claw was the first ride that got me into theme parks. I rode it with my friend and she said that if the little kids could do it, so could we. She blacked out on it. But I’m so glad we did it.

I still get the gitters from riding the Giant Drop to. The wait at the top is the wrost part. I like looking at Movie World when riding it but. I also look out for the GD when riding DC Rivals.

Love seeing the luna park sydney ones higher up, as my local park it puts a lot of emphasis on the boardealk style and probably does flat rides the best. I do agree with sledgehammer as every time i go on it my shoulders are in pain after only 2 rides, it gets so bad for us taller people that i wonder why i even bither anymore. Also fun to see you with that Paramore tour merch considering i got the same one when i saw them on my brisbane trip. Another thing i can claim to have done is ridden on the Hair Raiser on the opening day. I remember it vividly with the testing when the park opened for the day but operations commencing as we were making our way back from the back area. One of if not the best views for a droptower.

Another issue with inferno is that when its a hot day, the seats are pain and half of them are closed because of the heat

Rebel at Gumbuya can be pretty hit or miss with how much the gondolas will spin, however if you get a good ride with plenty of spinning it is utterly insane. It feels like you're about to be pile drived into the ground at extreme speed. I recommend sitting alone so that you're the only one on that gondola, that way you'll be off balance and therefore maximise the spinning action. The Enterprise is another favourite of mine.

Rebel actually was originally a travelling ride owned by Chants Amusements. They owned it for a few years before selling it off to Gumbuya World. Not sure if they still run it manual or not, but they are very intense rides and from videos I have seen it still runs a very good cycle.

just wondering i might have missed something in the ranking criteria but why wasn't sling shot surfers paradise because that is an absolute machine

That would be classified as a travelling flat ride.. plus they are expensive

i remember riding the spider this one time with my friend, and the heavier the passengers, the faster it spins. weight distribution needs too be equal as well or you won't spin much. Anyway, i threw up afterwards because of how much we were spinning, one of the best theme park experiences ever, even better that dc rivals in my opinion.

Doomsday Destroyer at Warner Bros Movie World looks so cool (theming-wise) but the ride experience looks tremendously disappointing

I can definitely see why Sea World wanted a ride with height to emphasise the view, but they need something less wind-sensitive. Maybe an observation tower or even a Ferris wheel would have been better. Observation towers in particular are much more reliable to operate in windy conditions
