Amur has convinced me that the developers wanted you to use modded trucks to get through it. Urska River should be very hard exclusively because of how hard it is to get infrastructure up. It is hellish to do so, but once it is up, its just a matter of travelling between road to road. There are a lot of false positives on this map. Routes that look like shortcuts but leave you stranded. The other maps are "smoother" after Urska because of the Zizk 605r alone.

Very good points on this comment for sure. I think it probably could slide up into that spot due to the start of the map. It is very hard to navigate and open things up, very true. I definitely see both sides of the arguement of either or. Thank you!

Dealing with Amur is honestly what got me into headin over to the mod browser before my first completion run... Amur is a literal nightmare! Many parts in Maine (the beyond thick, impossible mud in so many spots and the random snow that just stop you instantly) ain't much better. Definitely feels like the devs started upping the maps to counter the mods...and that truly sucks, honestly. Course, most all the trucks in Snowrunner are grossly underpowered anyways.

when, after all the torment on the Amur map, you open the Zikz, you are sincerely happy about it, the brainchild of Soviet engineering, against its background, other trucks seem weak. The map makes it clear how difficult it was to develop the harsh northern regions

@@johnfrusciante9909 i enjoyed myself until i got to yukon where i am currently at. its not necessarily that difficult once you learn the routes and shortcuts, rather just tedious having to cart so so so so many loads back and forth. im starting to lose interest tbh and i might end up taking another break from the game. the first time i played this game i grinded it for a few months then quit because i was burnt out and im getting close to that point again.

really? Amur was tailor made to unlock the Zizk and then complete it. Modded trucks are not needed at all in this game. It's practically cheating, but then again it's a single player game, so if you want to skip the game by all means do it:P

12:16 The easiest way to move from north to south on the eastern part of Zimnegorsk is to do it in Quarry and enter through the lower gateway. I slogged through that one road one time and that was enough for me.
@NProvince
@NProvince 2 года назад
Going through the gateway is another good way, but I had to say that "you can tip your truck over easily here" just as a warning, but that is a really easy spot as well.

This was a great idea for a video, particularly as you've listed the maps not just the regions. I'm all in agreement on the Wisconsin maps. I loved them to death. I love all the shortcuts which helps to elevate them above the earlier maps. I love that you can use all types of vehicles on the maps. Also big fan of BBLake. I do disagree on the Kola region though. On my first play through I wasn't a fan but they grew massively on me when I returned with some better trucks. I love finding shorter and easier routes on them too. And I liked the quiet and eery feeling in the maps. Not played enough of Maine yet to comment. I enjoyed Don region but the trailer store being so far away was kinda annoying. A little closer would have been nicer. Haven't played enough of Canada to comment yet, but I've read a lot of people didn't like one of those maps, I think the first. Amur. Never touching that haha.

Thanks Nathan! Great synopsis. I agree with your sentiment with regard to "sucking the fun out you" of those extreme Russian maps. I've only played this game in hard mode and I only use region specific trucks. Russia seems too much of a grind and too slow. I also don't like how desolate they feel. The US maps are just so balanced....and so scenic. Thank you for the time and effort you put in to this community.

I'd say Smithville Dam is still in easy personally, but I don't put put cranes on most trucks (only Bandit and Force has one) and I usually use either the double muds or dully wheels. So I prioritise stability with my trucks which probably helps. I think for me Smithville would actually be the easiest Michigan map. Interesting. I'd actually call Island Lake the hardest Michigan map. Black River has lots of road and the muddy bits that are must of the trails are shallow mud. Smithville got one big long paved highway cut right though the middle of the map meaning you don't have to do a lot of offroading to get to must places as the highway will take you fairly close, usually. Island Lake is like 80-90% all bog. Even some of the trails over there has really soft mud. Sure there are a couple solid dirt trails, but overall it's not nearly as easy as Black River or Smithville. I agree Drummond Island is also easy. I think Michigan for me, hardest > easiest is Island Lake > Drummond Island > Black River > Smithville Dam Overall rating = Easy. ----- Not sure if I'd put North Port before or after Island Lake, for me Alaska has always been a super easy region, easier then Michigan even. Alaska's so easy I can even find it kinda boring from time to time. But North Port is probably the roughest of the Alaska maps with the most mud and least highway, so I'll let it slide on this one placing it higher in easy in Island Lake. Mountain River I call super easy, roads going everywhere and even the few offroad bits aren't that bad. This is quite possibly even easier then Smithville. White Valley is another super easy map for me. Toads everywhere, most trails are solid dirt and even those few muddy spots you mentioned, you don't really need to go though em, if you scout the maps you can find you can go around them. This is definitely easier then North Port, no contest. Maybe I'd put this just under Island Lake in my scale. Yeah Petro Bay isn't that hard for me. Highway though the middle, largely solid trails, and even the few mud spots it has isn't bad. At worst it's around the same as Black River. Overall North Port > White Valley > Petro Bay > Mountain River = Easy ----- Moderate Easy for Taymir sounds fair. I might put Drowned Lands as the hardest map in Taymir. While Zimnegorsk could indeed have the edge terrain wise, I think Drowned Lands is probably harder due to how the contracts are set up. You gotta do a lot of work to even get out of Drowned Lands including those annoying drilling missions I'm not a huge fan of. So that's why Drowned Lands I think takes it for me overall as the hardest Taymir map. I think all of Taymir is going to be Moderate Easy, but as far as Taymir goes I think Quarry would could as the easiest map out of the 4. A lot of good trails, pretty small, really nothing to crazy on the whole over here. Zimnegorsk is muddy and kinda slow going but never really really came off all that hard to me, I put it just below Drowned Lands myself. There is a really muddy area in Rift where even the best default trucks today can still have a hard time getting up, it's like a death mud area or something. But you only need to ever get up there once to do a task. Otherwise it's pretty easy with getting though the deep cuts in the main trail (depending what truck you are in) offering some of the biggest challenge. I put this map just behind Quarry myself. Overall Drowned Lands > Zimnegorsk > Rift > Quarry. Moderate Easy region. ----- Yeah I agree Lake Kovd is hard. There is actually certain snow areas (not breakable ice, snow) where even a Tatarin can get stuck. I know first hand because I had mine stuck before. And no it wasn't wedged up on a rock, hooked on a pole/tree, stuck in ice or any other excuse. It was legit stuck in snow. Now it is only one area of the map and you can go around that spot once you know about it, but just the fact a freaking Tatarin of all things can get legit stuck on this map at all, there's just no way you can put it less then hard. I agree with Imandra being very hard, thing is compared to certain maps we get in Amur, I think Imandra counts as the easiest of all the very hard maps. Once you know where to go and what trucks to bring where (like it's a good idea to bring a 8X8 if your planned route takes you over that ice crossing you mentioned Nathan), then Imandra in the grand scheme isn't THAT hard. But yeah it's certainly not easy, especially the first time. Overall Imandra > Lake Kovd. Hard-Very Hard region.
@justinlynch3
@justinlynch3 2 года назад
----- I agree with putting Yukon into hard. I might actually put Big Salmon Perk as a little bit harder but that's mainly because I really don't use tire chains. So going to that warehouse in the top corner of the map, once you go down that steep icy hill then yeah, it's kinda a pain to get back up. But yes with chains you'd just fly right that hill. And like you said that one logging contract. Unlike you, I did not somehow make it there to that cabin on my first try. You have no idea how much of a pain in the ass it was getting a log crane up there, picking those spilled logs up off the mountain, and attempting to somehow reload the trailer. By some miracle and probably a helpful dose of stubbornness, with maybe about $50 worth of quarters added to the swear jaw, I managed to get it done. But yeah, that was not a fun time. As for Flooded Foothills I get up to the goldmine pretty easily, I even get the KOLOB's up there. One the road going up only a small part of the hill is actually slick. If you keep over to the side and skim the pole, you can get enough grip from the snow to just drive on up there without chains. Overall Big Salmon Peak > Flooded Foothills. Region is hard. ----- I agree with Black Badger being Moderate. Some missions on this map you can even whip out and do them with the CLT9000 or Transtar, I done it before even well before Season 6. For the most part you will still need a truck with AWD, but overall there isn't nothing to crazy in this map. I disagree with Grainswood River, I do put it in Moderate Easy. While there is still places you need to take out more of your decently capable trucks, you can actually make quite a lot of use out of the RWD Transtar and CLT9000 on this map. You can use these trucks I think on all the bridge repair tasks for example. It's really not that hard of a map at all. Overall Black Badger Lake > Grainswood River, Moderate - Moderate Easy in my opinion. ----- I actually put Urska River a little above Imandra in very hard. This map has death snow absolutely everywhere, you really need a Tatarin for scouting and even then it's pretty slow going. Even the F-750 and Yar, which I use to pretty dang good effect in Imandra, will struggle on this map. Plus a lot of the roads which you think would be safe have deep holes, leans and are really tippy. I rolled over more trucks on the bloody roads then I ever did the mud trails, and I'm the guy that set up my trucks for prioritising stability a lot. But even though I put this map above Imandra, Urska River still isn't the worst very hard map. Cosmodrone isn't easy but it's way easier then Urska River. It's much like Flooded Foothills, once you clear up the road blocks and build the bridges then you have at least one good road going though the map, the problem is just everything else off that one road. I where able to make some use of the trucks like the GMC Brigadier and International HX on here though, unlike Urska River and "the other map" that gives me shivers just thinking about it. This map is a hard, but not a very hard. I agree. I actually really enjoyed Chernokamesk, it's fairly easy going all things considered. Not so easy I'd take out the CLT9000 or anything, but it's not hard either. This for me could be the hardest Moderate map, I think. Still requires decently capable trucks, but it's pretty relaxed and enjoyable overall. And here it is, the bane of my very existence, Northern Aegis Installation. I agree 100%, by far the very worst map in the game. I mean really, can anybody think of anything nice to say about this map? Cause I sure the hell can't. Overall Northern Aegis Installation > Urska River > Cosmodrone > Chernokamesk. Region isvery hard-hard-moderate. ----- Factory Grounds, I was going to label it on the easier end of the hard list, but thinking about it now yea I agree with Moderate actually. Again not a map you'd be driving around a CLT9000 in, but you probably could use just about any truck that has AWD here, it's not really that bad outside a couple muddy spots. So I'm going to settle on it being on the harder side of Moderate, slot it in right behind Chernokamesk. I think I'd put the Nature Reserve in as a bit easier then Factory Grounds. A lot of the trails over here are dry solid dirt, if you had a garage over here so you didn't have to though Factory Grounds to here, I think you may of been able to actually make some use of a CLT9000 over here, at least on certain parts of the map. I'd call this one a medium moderate map. Do I slot it in behind Factory Grounds or right ahead of Grainswood River. I don't know, I can't decide really if I'd call this map slightly harder or slightly easier then Black Badger. I guess I'll go with slightly harder just because of needing to covert logs into lumber like you mentioned Nathan. So right in behind Factory Grounds it goes. Overall Factory Grounds > Nature Reserve, Moderate region. ----- I agree about Lowlands and Yellowrock. I actually can put the Transtar and CLT9000 to some use in Lowlands. Yellowrock is a little harder but really any truck with AWD should be able to get you by once you know where to go. They aren't easy enough to be Moderate Easy, but they are easy maps in the Moderate class. I put Lowlands as slightly harder then Grainswoord, and Yellowrock as slightly harder then Lowlands. Both are I think just a tad easier then Black Badger. Overall Yellowrock > Lowlands, Moderate region. ----- Well this was a bloody long post lol Hope you enjoy the read and seeing where our opinions on the game differ. I think it's really interesting that for example you can be fairly forgiving about Urska River while I view it worse then Imandra. It really is fun to see how other peoples thoughts differ from your own. (Post was so long in-fact I needed to split it into 2 parts lol)

Michigan is hard on your first go due primarily due to tires. You start off with highway tires on your haulers which more or less eliminates the GMC unless you feel like being stubborn. Once you get to level six and get the All Terrains Black River becomes really easy. I do most of Pedro bay using the ANK that you unlock there. Same with Drummond and Island lake, I use the P16 and the Twinsteer you unlock to do most of them, only bringing down a low saddle to unlock the sawmill and then later log haulers. Once you learn how to get around Lake Covd its fairly easy. The trick is to just use the lake as much as you can. Immandra? Can die in a fire. I don't find Amur that hard. I actually really enjoy the logistic side of things, unlocking routes and making things flow neatly. Unlike Koka, you can feel yourself making progress. My only complaint is HOLY MOTHER OF GOD IT TAKES SO LONG.

@palladiamorsdeus
@palladiamorsdeus 2 года назад
@@NProvince Early on, and I am sure you know this, but you can make the Forester and Kodiak work with highway tires. I sort of shudder to think of trying to do those logging runs using highways though. Then again I do tend to do the farm time trial early on using highways and its doable. Now you have me curious how much you could do just using highways...

One big thing I've found helps in the winter maps when you need to haul more than 2 slots, use a second truck instead of a trailer, when you get into the mud and snow pits the truck you're winching will start to push you along if it can find any traction, though you still probably have to leapfrog winch through blue snow.

I am on Kola now. I found Kovd to be fun once you learn the routes across the ice and can skip the mountain trails. Even knowing what I needed to do it took 4 hours to get the Imandra garage up and running. almost an hour of that was spent using the Cat 745 to pull the the Azovs, Tayga and 750 across the blue snow in the town in northern Kovd. The 750 was hauled along just to fix the Tatrain and the Tayga as Imandra is very hard on both of them (maybe not as bad as the paved roads in Taymyr, those murder the poor Tayga haha).

Great Video, absolutely agree so far with some exceptions. Stopped vid before Don region :) Still on my first playthrough, almost finished cosmodrome. For me flooded foothills with the mine missions was the most exhausting part. But I really enjoyed every map, with Imandra my favourite by far ;) Loved the plane recovery, best mission for me. Amur is almost as challenging, cant wait for northern aegis now. As i had to use a kolob on imandra, i did so with the 42-20 on Cosmo, tried to avoid the Zikz, because of your usurper review. Sometimes theres only the zikz left to rescue my stuck kolob or tipped 42-20 ^^ I play softcore w/o mods, only regional trucks and sometimes its gets really hard, but thats exactly the thing i like about this game.

@@NProvince I like to use the right tools for the right job. You can haul almost everything with every truck as long there are plenty of winchpoints. But thats not my playstyle, something that evolved out of your all american challenge vids etc. :) I love the step 310 for light hauling/support, vorons for medium, azov twins for heavy, kolob superheavy and the 42-20 for superdeep conditions. Same for the american lineup, fleetstar, wws, p512 (personal favourite so far), p12, p16, cat. Did the long logs in big salmon with the p16 (and some help of the cat), was quite a challenge 😀 Keep up the good work, learned a lot from your vids!

Imandra is hard seemingly for no other reason than being miserable. I completed all the tasks but it wasn't fun. Oftentimes there were poles or trees in the way just to screw you over. Lots of trees in tight trails on the insides of turns to hang your trailers up. Huge ascents which were ice, just absurd traps everywhere. The only way you knew you were on a road was to look at the map. Constantly losing the "roads."

Right off the bat. I'm shocked you feel Smithville is harder than Drummond Island or Island Lake. Even now I feel both those maps are harder than Smithville. Not having a garage is huge barrier right up front. Drummond has some rough terrain for so early in the game.

I generally agree except for Drummon Island being lower than Smithville Dam. The former has that nasty mud instead of roads that slows your truck significantly. You can't just rush from point A to point B, you have to carefully drive on the grass next to the road or just waste your fuel

@@NProvince it was easy for me to agree because I haven't played much past Alaska😆 I visited most of the DLC maps but briefly just to get upgrades. Cos I'm the kind of guy who re-starts the whole game if I damaged my truck too much or did something stupid, cos I don't wanna play a role of a bad driver or bad logistic company manager. Or sometimes I stop playing mid Michigan cos of Paystar vs ANK dilema. I don't play for several days and than decide to re-start because I lost the sense of continuity.

Well if you wanted to play them in order which indeed will challenge you, I think Kola Peninsula (Season 1). Its going to be challenging, but I also have videos on these Year 1 maps to help you somewhat. Heres why I think continuing play in order is good, because each phase (Season) teaches you something or gives you something you will use later in other Seasons. For example, the Scout Prototype Exploration Unit will come in handy even after Season 1. Towers on some maps dont display the full area so this can be handy. There are other things, but ya Kola is beautiful, hard, isolated, but if you've done the first 3 maps, you'll be fine. I hope this helps :)

Funnily enough phase 1 was the most annoying and difficult one for me. Ah all the salt from unlocking the garage that was the worst thing ever cause if you flip it and you're alone you better go back to the other map's garage and driving there also requires some skill it was really annoying. Basically, the appetizer of Amur. Because oh boy Amur was a nightmare. The rest was very enjoyable. My favourite map is Wisconsin, Black Badger Lake. A lot of everything from roads to mud and the logging was very fun here as well.

Fast DLC meaning Season 10? Realistically Season 5 was one of the fastest actually. If you're refering to Season 10; I did a comparission. So recently I beat Amur Hardmode in 75 hours and then I beat Season 10 in 26+ which is actually on par to complete a 2 map region on normal mode for me. Shaving off logistics, setup, timing that hardmode takes. I feel if I only played Amur for 2 maps of its 4 on normal mode; it would be similar hours to Season 10. I think perhaps it feels fast because we didnt have super conditions the whole time. I hope that makes some sense

In the Russian ice maps, the large rocks and small boulders, whether mobile or not, are difficult no matter truck you choose. Do you want to tip or get high centered? The other hard decision is that you want the best possible mud tires for the deep snow and frozen mud, but you will, also, have to drive up hills with iced over roads. So there’s kind of a catch 22 where your screwed no matter what you pick.

@@NProvince Yea, maybe , its true that it is slightly different game there, because everywhere its mostly Haul or repair, here it was more like Scout and search, which is probably why I love the Kola region, ofcourse when somebody doesnt like it, it obvious they will hate it more. Also maybe why I hate more Yukon than average, because I felt like it took forever, the Flooded foothills especially because the rout along the whole map, practically about ten or more 8slot trailers there + the building salvage, I didnt like that, I didnt like it much in the Wisconsin too those buildings. And one more thing, I feel is the main thing that decides our satisfaction to certain maps, is our fails. And by that I mean for example when we dont know stable roads much, or we flip over multiple times, we will hate that map more than other, despite the "real" difficulty. I remember when I first played Drowned lands, there is one bad route on the east side, and I just kept going there and flipping there, so I had to have 1 week pause, and then I realised I could simpy drive little more to the west- problem solved :D.
