Just doing the mainline titles for this one, but given that that's eleven whole games, that's a fair bit to talk about. This one was a bit harder than the X list, and there's a few placements that feel a little risky, but who wants to the same basic opinion that everyone else has? Should probably reiterate that this is based on my personal preferences and not an objective list, though.

Mega Man fans when a sequel actually makes changes instead of being the same game again with a new coat of paint: "Feels like a spin-off". I enjoyed the video though, as much as seeing MM5 at last hurts my soul

The falling crystals in megaman 5 can be avoided every time by doing this: jump right after one has fallen down. It's that simple (although the game doesn't do much to tell you. That was janky af). Personally I think 5 is a heavily flawed entry too, but it's not because of the level design, rather because the game doesn't do enough to feel fresh and most importantly because the super charged shot is busted and breaks the game. My favourites are 3, 4 and 7 btw

One comment on your opinions on 10. Megaman 10 was the first game( other than 4, 7, and 11)(kinda not 4 tho), where I felt that using th he weaknesses didn’t completely inhibit their strength, which made the fights more challenging and fun.

MM3 is an incomplete game...not because of software limitations, but it was pressed into release by Capcom. I feel it is far overrated even though I was there during the hype for it. Frankly, it was with MM4 when the developers perfected the formula. 🤷‍♂️.

Mega Man 3 is my favorite Mega Man game of all time, but if Capcom spent more time and finished the game, then it could've reached perfection. I love everything about Mega Man 3... expect the weapons because half of them are pretty awful.

I'm new to the series and am about 3/4 of the way through MM3 via the legacy collection. So far I think it is my favourite. I find it more difficult but fair than MM2 and obviously more realized than MM1. What a banging soundtrack too. Looking forward to making it to 4.

I agree with MM3. That one I think is my overall favorite. The replay of the MM2 bosses is why I like it for nostalgia reasons. The music is excellent and almost as iconic as MM2. From a difficulty perspective, MM3 is a bit more difficult than MM2.

My own ranking: I always rank the NES titles in their own bubble. So the NEs ranking goes like this: 1st: 4. It does everything right. From level design to boss design. Also allowing new players to find the one boss to make an entry into this game. 2nd: 6. It does some interesting things. While it feels similar to 4 it has its very unique moments that sets it apart enough to rank second. 3rd: here I am split between 2 and 1. Mostly it is MM2 because it has a nice selection of great weapons overall I like to use very much - except Metal Blades, the weapon everyone cries about but leaves me mostly unimpressed. And MM1 comes up right next to it and sometimes on top of it simply for what it is. A great start to become a franchise that nobody back then saw coming. 5th is 5. It doesn't anything new that hasn't been done in 4 and it also doesn't do anything we then experience in 6. Gameplay feel and looks as well as music makes it too similar to either 4 and 6, leaving it a bit in the dust. And last comes 3. It has some nice set pieces and interesting boss fights. But overall short Wily stages - too short. And before those four stages I never care to play through since they do not interest me. Four stages are rehashed, only this time with a damaged look. And all four stages house two MM2 robot masters. The idea to fight them with MM3 weapon arsenal sounds interesting at first. And for some bosses it does work. But most bosses are dysfunctional as they are and trying to use the appropriate weapon is hassle. Outside of that I rank the NES games in one package against the other games. MM7 comes right next to the NES pack, followed by 8. Those two games are truly next gen games for their time, showcasing what Mega Man games can be when being released on the SNES and later on Playstation/Saturn. But 11 ranks highest. It does everything right for a next gen Mega Man title whilst staying true to its formula after so many years. The developers went back to the drawing board and started where Mega Man 4 left in terms of gameplay mechanics, making the game a bit shorter without double fortress encounters like in 4, 5 and 6, and then adding a new mechanic that boosts gameplay greatly. The Double Gear system that allows to act faster or put more punch to any special weapon and also the Mega Buster, makes for a great show when unleashed upon enemies and stage sections. And my least favorites are 9 and 10. Especially 10. The hell were they thinking. I didn't mind the NES style look. 9 looks and sounds great. 10 not so much. But in terms of gameplay those games leave a lot to be desired. Especially after playing Mega Man 7 and 8 after so many years, playing 9 and 10 makes me feel empty while I try to have at least some kind of fun.

My personal tier from best to worst. Megaman 7: Had a lot of great content, a competent story, great tracks, and fun bosses. Megaman 4 Megaman 11 Megaman 9 Megaman 10 Megaman 6 Megaman 3 Megaman 2 Megaman 1 Megaman 8 Megaman 5: The story was lackluster, the tracks were mediocre with a few that shine, gameplay is mediocre. It’s as run of the mill as you can get.

I guess for context, I’m a relatively newer Megaman fan, with me first engaging with the franchise in 2021, so that likely explains my Megaman 11 placement. However, the first game I fully engaged with was 4, and the last of them I played before ranking was 10.
@jaydenyoung9809
@jaydenyoung9809 Год назад
Lastly, something I really find value in this franchise is the story. I love the characters, the themes, and the intricate conflicts of classic Megaman. It goes for the fantastical elements of the concept of robots without going wild fantasy and WorldBuilding of X and Zero. Classic Megaman feels like it describes how the world of today would react and use the technology. This likely explains why I rate Megaman 7 and 4 so highly. Now, the only wide gap between rankings for me is between 8 and 5, as 5 feels generic and 8 feels recklessly ambitious but creative. All of these are really close, and to give 3 some credit, if the story was integrated slightly better into the game, it would have the best plot in the series, but for now, that belongs to 4 for me.

Not many people would look to NES games for story, given how simple they tend to be, but there is some good stuff there, if you dig a bit. If you're looking for some extra adaptations, the manga by Ariga and the comics by Archie are pretty enjoyable.

@@ExploDjinn and I should clarify. I love 2. I think it's a great game. The banging soundtrack on top of the incredible sprite work would have blown my mind if I would've owned it as a kid. But since I didnt, I'm not swayed by nostalgia in any way. I feel like people pick mega man 2 as their number 1 because it's a crowd pleaser and an easy choice. It seems lazy to me, so it causes the person to lose credibility in my eyes. Classic Megaman games are way harder to rank than X, since the games are much more consistent in quality. The high points aren't as sky-high as X1 or X4, but the low points are nowhere near as low as X6 or X7. There are no absolute masterpieces, but no bad games either. They're all simply great games.

1st, great video! It may not sound like it because I'm about to cite a (possible) mistake, but I bit off more than I could chew by planning on posting my own list so now I'll just cover the thing I just mention. *What is the "so-called" mistake?* While Mega Man 7 for the SNES (JP: March 24, 1995) was where the core Mega Man series gained an in-game shop, the mechanic debuted in Mega Man IV for the Game Boy (Japanese release date of October 29, 1993). Since I just realized the built-in calculator on my desktop can easily work such things out for me, I'll point out that Mega Man IV hit Japanese streets 1 year, 4 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days before Mega Man 7. Oh, and since I'm a nitpicker, yes, that means I'm _technically_ talking about _Rockman VII_ for the Super Famicon and Rockman World IV for the... uh... they still called the Game Boy the Game Boy over there. Time to post my list, *but* there is a massive problem! I'm still trying to get my act together so I can treat myself to the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, but it ain't happened yet... so I have *not* played Mega Man 9 or 10 (any versions). I think I've learned enough to get a solid _guess_ as to how I would rank them, though. *I'm covering the 11 numbered entries **_plus_** Mega Man & Bass (GBA version).* When it comes to Mega Man through Mega Man 3, I've played the NES versions, the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (GCN) versions, and the Mega Man Legacy Collection (PC) version. Sadly, the only option I own (and thus have recently played) is that last one. For Mega Man 4 through 8, all I've played are the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (GCN) versions. Yeah, the Nintendo GameCube one is where they annoyingly reversed the layout of the "Jump" and "Shoot" buttons, with no option to reassign buttons. I actually _did_ get used to it, after playing day after day for a few weeks. *As this is a **_personal_** ranking, I think this is acceptable though **_not_** ideal.* Going from _Least_ to *Most* favorite, with explanations to _follow:_ 12) Mega Man 11) Mega Man 8 10) Mega Man 7 09) Mega Man & Bass 08) Mega Man 2 07) Mega Man 10 06) Mega Man 9 05) Mega Man 4 04) Mega Man 5 03) Mega Man 6 02) Mega Man 11 01) Mega Man 3 After realizing how stupidly long this post would be if I gave a detailed explanation for my rankings, I'll give more general statements. The original game is the least of the lot, because you can tell it lacks polish. As in, the game's look and feel are just a bit "off". Same goes for the six original Robot Masters; I think their NetNavi counterparts make it clear how much better their designs could have been. The actual boss fights are all right; not great, but not horrible. The weapons are similarly a mixed bag; the Hyper Bomb and Super Arm need to be better, while the Elec Beam is _too_ good. I'd say the Ice Slasher and Rolling Cutter _close_ to being what they needed to be, but the Fire Storm is the only one that's "just right". Pet Peeve: shouldn't *the bomb* block up blocks and not electricity? O_o I mean, still have the Super Arm work on them as well... The Stages similarly feel not quite right for a lot of the game. There are good stretches, but also obvious moments of bad design. The Magnet Beam is great, but I think it also avoids being broken. No Passwords, no Save (in the original), and no E-tanks hurt, though the Yashichi is appreciated. Lastly, while I _like_ some of the glitches/exploits in this game, though not enough to bump it up. Oh, and if this wasn't about personal taste, I don't know if I'd even count such things in the game's favor. Mega Man 8 actually does a lot I like, but what I think it gets wrong _really_ damages it for a list like this. I like having a shop, I like having different upgrades from which to choose, but I don't like it when Bolts are a finite resource and can be quite challenging to find *and/or* to reach. I probably was stupid for not using multiple saves to try the upgrades out and see which ones I _really_ liked, but I'd have preferred they handled the Bolts/Upgrades like they do in Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 11 (and probably 9 and 10...). *Duo should have been playable!* Just because some game series suffer because they try to work in too many different kinds of play styles/playable characters doesn't mean Duo shouldn't have been an unlockable. If that sounds like a silly complaint, that's because I'm about to get to the *obvious* ones: like the original, Mega Man 8 just looks and feels "off"... yeah, more so than Mega Man & Bass. So it isn't just the aesthetic or the hardware; the SNES was able to work with these sprites (or something very close to them) and look _good!_ They did some interesting stuff with the bosses and their weapons in this game, yet I only barely remember that. Oh, and no E-Tanks! Yeah, I'll eventually "get good" and not need them; they're the crutch that enables such progress! Ugh, and I almost forgot the Wily "Jump! Jump! Slide! Slide!" section... Mega Man 7 has great graphics, good control, some nice easter eggs/extras in it, including that 1-on-1 fighter mode for Mega Man versus Bass! How could I rank it this low? No, not the Robot Masters or Boss Weapons; I remember liking these. *The Wily final battle almost ruins this game for me.* Yes, I find it _that_ frustrating. The second time I played Mega Man 7, I was shocked at how great it was, yet I remembered hating it... *and then I made it back to Wily and remembered.* Mega Man & Bass being included at all and *not* being last place is probably shocking. _Especially_ as this is the GBA version we're talking about. The game balance often feels off; Mega Man seems to have a harder time in the Stages, but an easier time with Bosses... but instead of feeling balanced, it just makes the game feel flawed as either character. The mix of things I love and hate is kind of homogeneous with this title. As in, if I'm not naming the same thing as being both loved and hated, then I'll name two closely related things. Like the battle against Burner Man. Love the character's design and look. I like the Weapon you get. Burner Man's Weakness being ice is what you'd expect... but _how_ you use it is as clever as it can be frustrating. If you've never played it, Burner Man's Weakness is the Ice Wall, a typical elemental relationship for a Mega Man game. _The catch_ is that it doesn't do much damage being fired at Burner Man. *Instead,* you're supposed to drop it and walk Mega Man into it to push the Ice Wall *and* Burner Man onto Spikes on either edge of the Stage. Burner Man is, however, really good at smashing the ice... The screen crunch on the GBA version is also dreadful; it is possible the Super Famicom version of the game could clock in higher, because I _really_ love having an alternate character to play as. *How can Mega Man 2 be so low?* The Slide and Rush were introduced in Mega man 3. The Charge Shot was added in Mega Man 4. Mega Man 2 has Items that are like less fun versions of Rush, and you can neither slide nor fire a charged buster shot. These eight Robot Masters may be even more iconic than the original six, but... well... that doesn't mean they're all "cool". At this point, flip a coin; that probably determines whether I seem them as cool, killer robots... or kids who don't know what they're doing. Weapons you get have some real issues. Basically, the Metal Blade is _too_ good, the Air Shooter and Crash Bombs are just about right, and the rest are kind-of-to-definitely-bad. While it isn't as bad as most of what preceded it on this list, there are notable spots that go from being challenging, to cheap. I absolutely understand why this game is seen as "the best" by so many, I just don't personally find it to be _that_ good. Oh, and the one Wily Stage Boss that requires the Crash Bomb to kill and if you run out you're just unable to beat the thing? That crossed the line from "challenging" to "cheap". End of Part I
@KamisamanoOtaku
@KamisamanoOtaku Год назад
Now for Part II *Based on how much I like the Charge Shot and Slide,* I'm sticking Mega Man 10 and Mega Man 9 into the 7th and 6th place slots. I see a lot I should love in these games, *especially* being able to play as someone other than Mega Man. It is quite possible that I'll play them and love them so much that they shoot up to the top two slots, or at least leapfrog over the next pair of games. I said "pair" because Mega Man 4 and Mega Man 5 are pretty much tied in my book, I let Mega Man 5 edge out Mega Man 4 because folks have _almost_ convinced me Mega Man 5 is the best entry point for the Classic Mega Man series. When ExploDjinn pointed out how Toad Man is a great "gimme" boss for beginners, my mind immediately went to how he's got a *horrible* Stage for new players. I mean, I suppose conquering it will really help you "git gud" fast, but it also means "normal" Mega Man gameplay might feel off. XP Otherwise, take what ExploDjinn said *minus* so many negatives for Mega Man 5. Yeah, they messed up the Rush Coil for no discernable reason, but I don't recall stuff like dying to a boss because their walk speed overpowered my I-frames. Or at least, when it happened it felt like my fault for not sliding away, jumping away, keeping my distance in the first place, etc. I'm glad he recognized that Charge Man is great, and he's absolutely right about Stone Man seeming silly (as a concept) and giving you a frustratingly bad weapon. It is also even more likely than with the rest of this list that, if you asked me to rank my Mega Man games again tomorrow, these two could be flipped. Mega Man 6 basically takes what I liked about Mega Man 4 and Mega Man 5, and does it just as good or even better! That... really says it all, I think. Mega Man 11 being this high might be a surprise. I like how it looks. I like how it plays. I like - maybe even love - the Double Gear system. I like the bosses and Stages, even the ones I technically don't like in the heat of the moment. XP It isn't the perfect Classic Series Mega Man game, but nothing is and I think this sets the new standard for Classic Series games. Even the *story* is good here. Both in concept and execution! I've played and beaten it on all the difficulty levels as well. Even with my Mega Man pedigree, I started out on whatever-the-easiest-difficulty was, and worked my way up. I am sad we didn't get a chance to play through with different characters, though. I'm actually a bit bummed Capcom isn't milking the Classic Series with a bunch of remakes in this style, either. I never played Mega Man Powered Up because I never had a PSP, and to be fair, I varied from kind-of-liking to kind of hating the game's art style. I would love to see a game doing everything it did *except* looking like Mega Man 11... and hopefully this time have it take off and get the same treatment for the _rest_ of the Classic series. The upside of this being a list about how I personally feel about the games, I can be completely honest: Mega Man 3 for the NES is my favorite Mega Man game, but I know it has some glaring issues. It might be my #1 because it was my first. Not only was it my first Mega Man game, but it was the first game I managed to beat, and even the first I (almost) bought on my own. Forgot about sales tax, but my mom was nice and covered that part (thanks Mom!). While there's no Charge Shot, we've got the slide... and it might be that the slide is the one I truly cannot do without. Getting more general, I like the look of this game, I like the feel of this game, I like the incredibly broken cheats for this game (so I experienced enough of the game to "get good" at it). I like all the Robot Masters. Gemini Man, Magnet Man, Shadow Man, Spark Man, and Snake Man need no explanation; even with the plot of Mega Man 3, they all make sense. I've been told Wily actually _found_ Shadow Man, but you can _totally_ believe he would repair him, reprogram him, and pass him off as his own work. XD I suppose Spark Man's lack of hands might need some 'splaining, but in the "I get that noses are optional for a humanoid robot, but hands? O_o" kind of way. Hard Man, Needle Man, and Top Man are kind of silly, but if you care about the lore then they at least kind of make sense. I *cannot* claim that all the Weapons in this game are stellar, but I do think they all have sound concepts, but some have middling or even botched executions. What do I mean? The Shadow Blade is a non-broken Metal Blade, so no issues there. The Needle Cannon basically gives your arm cannon rapid-fire; given how the Bass Buster works, I am surprised that people don't appreciate this for Mega Man in a game where he can't charge his Buster. Magnet Missiles were explained in the video; it isn't truly a fire-and-forget kind of weapon, but getting a single to turn gives it a nice compromise between homing capacity and complexity. The Search Snake is a better Bubble Lead... and the Bubble Lead's main problem is... well... the same as the Search Snakes: a lack of good places to use it. Both weapons are good for exposing false floors and hitting low enemies; the Search Snakes are also good for false walls and certain wall-mounted foes. The Hard Knuckle - as the video states - is so slow it is hard to use, though I like that you can aim it and I _think_ it builds up speed as it flies. It replaces Crash Bomb as the "Blows up destructible walls" Weapon; not great, but decent, if not overall good... ...but the rest have some real issues. It might surprise people, but I don't consider the Top Spin the worst weapon in Mega Man 3. It is deeply flawed, and I wish it worked the way it does in Mega Maker, but even though this was my first Mega Man game, I always wished Mega Man had a decent melee attack. It took a decade or two before I realized the Top Spin _was_ a melee attack (though not a decent one). Now, why do I think the Gemini Laser is _worse_ than the Top Spin? The concept is neat but it stinks how you'll have to wait for it to finish bouncing around and off the screen before you can fire again or switch weapons, and I seem to recall it sometimes causing slowdown and/or flicker. Like Flash Man before him, I think Gemini Man's Gemini Laser should have just frozen everything on the screen _except_ the laser shot itself. That way it could hopefully bounce around more quickly, and it wouldn't matter you couldn't change Weapons. The worst weapon in Mega Man 3, though, is the Spark Shot; it is a less competent Ice Slasher. Oh, and as for Rush, the Rush Jet is _too_ good, the Rush Marine is almost totally pointless, and the Rush Coil is just right. That middle one is more the fault of the Stage design and/or the Rush Jet being so good. So many people hate the Doc Robot Stages and Battles, but I kind of like them. While I agree that Mega Man shouldn't get the MM2 weapons being emulated by Doc Robot, _some_ kind of reward would have been nice: how about *after* the Stage is done you get an extra life and an E Tank? Then this gauntlet becomes a nice way to build up to Wily! Oh, and the Stages should have been remixes of the Mega Man 2 Stages for the emulated Robots. Maybe even separated into another full eight (but no longer marathon length) Stage. A second concept I like but that the game bobbled is Break Man/Proto Man. As Break Man, Blues looks like he represents the peak of Sniper Joe-dom, and that absolutely works for me! Unfortunately, he seems to be Proto Man for all his battles and other appearances in this game _except_ the one that takes place between the last Doc Robot Stage and the first Wily Stage. @_@ Likewise, I like the story of Mega Man 3, but thanks to games like Ninja Gaiden II we know that it could have been told pretty well even with an 8-bit game. Though I could be mistaken and they lacked the memory to do so. ^^' I also think that beating Break Man should have also given Mega Man something; I mean, having that "ninth" bonus Robot Master was really cool in the Game Boy Mega Man (Rockman World) games. Though I suppose if I'm going to wish for even more goodies, I should bring up my fixation with having multiple, playable characters again. I know we couldn't have gotten the MMPU treatment on an NES game, but how about just letting us play as Proto Man's _sprite_ (meaning he'd play exactly like Mega Man) with a Password we'd receive after beating the game? I'm odd in that I really like the Wily Stages and bosses in this game. Again, this lines up a lot with the video. You can absolutely tell that a bunch of stuff got cut short here (as with other parts of the game), _but_ at least it means the Wily Stages have a nice, fast pace. I like the Kamegoro Maker, I like the Yellow Devil MK-II, I like the Holograph Mega Mans, I like the Robot Master gauntlet via teleporters (I mean, almost all the games do it...), I like Wily Machine 3 and both its Stages, and I like Gamma and both his Stages. The returning stuff did things a bit differently, and the new stuff... also did some stuff differently. Wily Machine 3 is fun because there's more than one way to handle it, especially in its second phase; I never knew its proper Weakness Weapon because I just would jump on my Rush Jet and rapid fire into the cockpit. Oh, and I like the bit with the fake Wily. The battle with Gamma might be a bit too easy as an adult, but it was sufficiently challenging as a 9-year-old. ;) ...yeah, this is a rambling mess, but I'd hate to waste it. Besides, for those who didn't care about the details, I did include the simple list near the beginning. Thanks for reading!

@@sethkl3136 When I can afford to get Mega Man Legacy Collection II (or whatever it is called), I will! I have been dealing with some help issues that have made finding work tricky. I won't be surprised if they dominate the list after I play them, even with the lack of slide. Mega Man 4 and 5 tend to swap places for me all the time. I didn't play Mega Man 4 through 8 originally until I was an adult, and via the GCN version of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (which I no longer own). I *did* get the first Mega Man Legacy Collection through Steam a few years ago, so I've been able to play Mega Man through Mega Man 6 recently. Mega Man 3 has an unfair advantage, but I genuinely enjoy Mega Man 4, 5, and 6. Really wish Capcom would release a Mega Man Legacy Collection 3 with Mega Man & Bass, and the Game Boy Mega Man titles. I used to own Dr. Wily's Wily's Revenge and Mega Man V; the latter is one of my favorite Mega Man games. Thanks for reading my stupidly long comments!

Good video. You should have put Mega Man & Bass in here. Its technically a spinoff but it still plays like classic MegaMan and the storyline still continues in the main timeline taking place after MM 8 and MM9. Even Tengu Man and Astro Man, along with Bass & Treble returns from MM8.

Alright, Number 11 - Mega Man 9. They stripped away everything from the series. The slide, charge shot, hell they even took away QUICK SWITCH! Yes, they removed quick switching with L and R. The difficulty went from a nice medium 6 or 7 in MM8, straight up into a 20. The game has okay weapons, and some good music. But otherwise, I don't like Mega Man 9. Number 10 - Mega Man 5. This game literally has no actual point to it. It's not a bad game, and everything around it is pretty decent. It just doesn't stand out whatsoever when it comes to classic MM. I'd say you SHOULD play it, but it's really lack luster. Number 9 - Mega Man 10. I don't really know why exactly, but this game is better than 9. It has better bosses, overall better music, I love the addition of Bass and Proto-Man in the game and...that's kinda it. The story in it though has some really good plot points here and there but really I have nothing else BIG to say about this game. It has a lot of cool enemies in it, and...OH YEAH! The Mega Man Killers! They give you special weapons from the GB games....wait. Quint isn't in it, seriously Capcom? That's 1 point off Mega Man 10, moving on.... Number 8 - Mega Man 4. Okay, the Mega Buster is a pretty darn good addition, I like it. The backstory is finally shown, the story is explained, there's good visuals, okay bosses, pretty good weapons, and yeah this is a solid and good Mega Man game! It's a really great game! Number 7 - Mega Man 2. I first ever played this game when I was 4 years old on the Nintendo Wii. It kind of made me fall in love with the series, and video games as a whole. And while It's gonna go lower because I'm not letting my bias get ahead of me, I felt really sad putting this game as low as it is. Mega Man 2 is the most important game in my life and i'm putting it below the top 3. I know the boss order, I know the strategies, I know the weapons, I know everything about this game, I know more about this game than Mega Man X2's strategies. I love this game and wish I could put it higher but nostalgia isn't going to push this higher, 4 year old me would be screaming at me right now. Number 6 - Mega Man 11. I got this game day 1 in 2018 and I had been SO excited for this game, and I replayed it over and over and over and would NEVER get sick of it. But looking at it 5 years later it isn't AS good as others, for example: Every power up basically requiring bolts, it's just a bunch of bolt grinding. Capcom seems to be running out of ideas for bosses as well, it's kinda the same style of robot master over and over. So this game is great, just not as great as I remember 5 years ago. Number 5 - Mega Man. I LOVE the original game. The speedrunning is fantastic in this game, the weapons somehow hold up better than most X games weapons, and the bosses are incredibly memorable. Cutman is the most remembered robot master literally ever, don't tell me that's not the first robot master YOU think of. The game has difficulty that's challenging, but not rage quitting challenging, just standard challenging. I love this game, and the OG still stands the test of the time. Number 4 - Mega Man 8. This game is underrated as heck. The level design is fantastic, I love the FMVs (I think the voice acting is funny), it always brings something new to the table, and deserves so much more love than it gets on a daily basis. The weapons are so fun and intuitive in this game, plus the bosses are original and have great difficulty. This game deserves so much more love than it gets, it's fantastic! Number 3 - Mega Man 6. It is a perfect way to say goodbye to the NES, with beautiful graphics unlike anything on the NES because of it's 1994 release and the new rush armors are also awesome that include flight and power upgrades! The addition of worldwide bosses is also a really cool concept, the back of the American box art finally getting something right...oh yeah and did I forget to say Capcom threw this to Nintendo? So in 1993 during development, Capcom would release it in Japan but NOT the USA. So Nintendo threw up their hands in the air and said "CAN I HAVE IT?!" and Capcom gave them the rights to do the American translated version all by themselves. So, that's why theres not a single Capcom logo on the US box because Capcom literally had ZERO involvement with it! Let's move on.... Number 2 - Mega Man 7. Fun, entertaining, great story, lovable bosses, some of the BEST weapons in the series and the amount of COLLECTIBLES is absolutely astounding! The Super Adapter is a combination of the Power Armor, and Jet Armor from MM6. The Proto-Shield is a great addition, and the new shop is SO gosh darn helpful in this game. But guess what, there's a game better than this. Number 1 - MEGA MAN & BA- No you idiots! MM&B isn't even on this list, it's numbered entries only for this one. Anyways, Mega Man 3 is the best Classic MM game ever. The best robot master is in this, Top Man. The game also introduced the slide, Rush, Proto-Man, and even has some throwback bosses like Yellow Devil MK-II in Wily Fortress 2. The weapons are so goated in this game, Magnet Missle bro? Oh my god, Hard Knuckle is so freaking underrated more people NEED to use it. So overall, MM3 is the best classic game. I love it so much, I first got this one when I was like 6 or 7 and I hope you and everyone out there can try it because it is the best. Hey guys! I just did a similar comment on his Mega Man X games ranking, see if you can find it if you'd like. I spent a lot of time planning and typing this one out so please leave a like and a reply! Call it basic, but I still think that the peak of the series is Mega Man 2-4 (haven't played 11). Sure they are the ones that really innovated, but I don't think that's why they have the best controls, best level design, and best weapons. Sure 2 and 3 have balancing issues, but I find that the weapons are still great, and yes Mega Man 9 has even better weapons, but unfortunately I think the level design is kinda BS and too precise, and when they aren't that, they are boring. Mega Man 10 is the opposite with really fun levels (except Commando Man stage, that one sucks) but the weapons are not good. The problem I have with Mega Man 7 and 8 is that I don't particular like how those games control and I find 8's level design so far to be pretty weak although I have only played the first 4 Robot Master stages, so that might change later. Mega Man 5 is probably my least favorite because the weapons are useless and the level design is just okay, and Mega Man 6 is solid but unremarkable with fun stages, fun weapons, and the Rush adaptors, but The Rush Adaptors make you use your weapons less unfortunately. So here is my ranking of the first 10: 2>4>3>10>9>6>7>1>8>5
@radiate88
@radiate88 7 месяцев назад
I agree with most of the placements on this list, but personally I'd move mega man 2 and 6 down a bit. I think a lot of people overlook design issues that mega man 2 has, such as poorly balanced weapons, bosses that require unnecessarily difficult strategies to beat without taking damage, cheap enemy placements, (such as the birds in crash man's stage) cheap stage gimmicks, (such as the yoku blocks in heat man's stage and the entirety of quick man's stage) and an "easy" difficulty setting that breaks the design of various enemies. As for mega man 6, I think that the jet adapter ruins a lot of the weapon balance, as the majority of the time, you can just use the added mobility to avoid enemies or be better able to reach them, rather than switching to a weapon that would work effectively. I also think some of the other games just have more enjoyable moments than that of 6. While 6 isn't bad, it's definitely not my favorite. My top 3 would consist of mega man 4 at the top, followed by 9 and 3. Mega man 4 was the first game I played, and best represented what the series had to offer in terms of balanced weapons, unique and fun bosses, excellent level design and an excellent soundtrack. Mega man 9 is on the same level as 4 for me, but I have a slight preference to 4, just because it was my first mega man experience. As for mega man 3, I feel as mega man 3 has some of the highest highs of the series as well as some of the lowest lows. Most of the weapons are well designed, (the exception being spark shock) the robot masters are all fun, (except shadow man) and there is some excellent level design that meshes perfectly with the newly added slide. Sadly though, the Doc robot battles pull the worst parts of mega man 2 into one of the best games, yet somehow manage to make it worse than in mega man 2. If it wasn't for the doc robots, I'd probably have mega man 3 in the top spot.

Here's my list of ranking the classic series (Worst to Best): 12.Mega Man 5. It is an extremely boring snooze fest with boring stages, dull Robot Masters, crappy weapons besides Crystal Ball, pathetically easy and boring bosses, and to top all of that off, a bland soundtrack. It's easily my least favorite game of the classic series and it's in my top 5 worst Mega Man games. 11.Mega Man 8. Similarly to Mega Man 5, It has some very boring stages, alright bosses, a bland soundtrack, awful voice acting (Which is both a good and a bad thing), a horrible set of Robot Masters, situational weapons expect for the Flash Bomb, some okay bosses, and some great sprite work. 10.Mega Man 1. This game is a clear example of first game syndrome. It does a lot of things pretty poorly like the stages, which range from okay to bland and boring. Such as Guts Man's stage, which is very boring and the only note worthy thing about it is the platforming section at the beginning. Another example of Mega Man 1's bland level design is Bomb Man's stage, which doesn't have anything interesting going on. It has some good stages like Elec Man and Fire Man, but most of them are very bland and short. However, it does have a good soundtrack to set the standards that the rest of the classic series, as well as X, Zero, ZX, and so on, will follow. It also has some alright bosses, but some of them do way too much damage and as for the weapons, it's a great first line up with the only bad ones being the Super Arm and Hyper Bomb. As for the Robot Master line up, it's a good way to start the classic series off with great Robot Masters like Elec Man, Fire Man, Cut Man, and Ice Man. 9.Mega Man 10. Mega Man 10 is a decent game with okay bosses, okay stages, a horrible set of Robot Masters, decent bosses, a good set of weapons like the Water Shield, Solar Blaze, and Triple Blade. It also has a great soundtrack. Some of the enemies can be pretty annoying in this one, like the explosive up n' down enemy that they love to use all across the game. 8.Mega Man 11. A great return after 8 years of no Mega Man games, but for me, it's way too short and some of the stages can go on for a little too long. Despite that, it has an absolutely amazing set of weapons, fun bosses, great stages with fun setpieces, and a great set of robot masters. Unfortunately, the music is okay for Mega Man standards and the only good theme in this game is the stage select. 7.Mega Man and Bass. It's a great game that can get pretty frustrating at some points like Burner Man's Stage or the King/Wily Stages. It has a great set of Robot Masters (Two of them are recycled from Mega Man 8), A great weapon line up, fun stages, a amazing soundtrack, some great bosses as well as some annoying ones, and it was the first game that had more than one playable character. 6.Mega Man 7. Mega Man 7 is a great transition from NES to SNES with a great set of Robot Masters (Even tho this is the game where Capcom started to run out of ideas in terms of the Robot Master name department), a decent set of weapons, amazing stages with great stage effects, a incredible soundtrack, fun bosses, and it has the Super Adaptor which makes the stages more fun to play through. It also introduced Bass and Treble. 5.Mega Man 2. It had a huge quality increase over the first game, but there's still a lot of things we need to fix. First, I'll start off with the things it does right. It has some great stages with some fun setpieces, a good set of Robot Masters, fun bosses (Expect the booby trap from Wily 4, which causes too much sprite flickering), an amazing soundtrack, some fun door glitches, and the overpowered Metal Blade which I don't use very often in my recent playthroughs of this game. The things it does wrong is the weapon line up, which is pretty awful except for the Metal Blade and Quick Boomerang. The rest are either very situational, do very little damage, or they barely work. It also has a lot of sprite flickering, which can be very distracting at some points. 4.Mega Man 6. This game is a great way to end off the NES Era of Mega Man with some great weapons, fun adaptors, great stages, fun and easy bosses, a great soundtrack, and best of all, Mega Man finally learned how to arrest Dr. Wily thanks to the power of rope technology. 3.Mega Man 4. It is a great game with some of the best weapons in the series, great stages with fun setpieces, a good set of Robot Masters, fun bosses, it introduced the Charge Shot which is a great editon to the gameplay, and it has a great soundtrack. 2.Mega Man 9. Mega Man 9 is an amazing game with a great set of Robot Masters, great weapons, fun bosses, a great soundtrack, and great stages with fun setpieces. However, the enemy placement can get pretty annoying at some points and on Super Hero Mode, it can get Ninja Gaiden III bad. Despite that, it's still a great game. 1.Mega Man 3. Mega Man 3 is my favorite NES game and my favorite Mega Man of the entire franchise with Zero 2 and X1 being pretty close to it. It has amazing stages with fun setpieces, a great set of robot masters, an amazing soundtrack, fun bosses, it introduced Proto Man as well as Rush, and it introduced the slide which makes the stages faster to playthrough and more fun. The only thing I hate about this game is the weapon lineup, which isn't very good. Half of them are pretty bad, with the worst ones being the Spark Shock and the Top Spin.

As someone who still owns and plays the classic series, and played these games to death of their time of release, I’m always surprised to see MegaMan 6 ranked so highly. MegaMan 6 was by far my least favourite in the series as a kid. It was too easy, its robot masters were cheesy, and the Wily fight was a cakewalk. I can appreciate it more now for what it does well, but it’s still my least favourite in the classic 1-6 series.

My LEAST FAVORITE MEGA MAN game was Mega Man 3. The stages are OK, the Robot Masters aren't too hard, but the Doc Wily robots and their difficult stages suck. Unless you know how to manage your inventory and E-tanks, the game is way too hard. The stage select, continues and E-tanks do help, however. Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8 are roughly equal to me. Honestly I hated the music. I wasn't a fan of Mega Man's animations. I HATED THE VOICE OVERS - probably WORSE than Mega Man X7's. I wasn't a fan of the weapons in the game - easily forgettable. It's no wonder Mega Man X and X2 overshadowed 7 and 8 with ease. It was a far better game. Mega Man 4, 5 and 6 all feel roughly equal to me. They are GREAT GAMES and they progressively got easier. I appreciate that by Mega Man 6 you have a Jetpack, Slide and Charge Shot. Mega Man 1 is a great game for an hour long playthrough, but it's a bit too difficult in Wily's Castle with its pacing. I appreciate how the games split the boss rush nicely with the stage bosses in the final level. Yellow Devil is way too difficult until you can master the timing needed to attack him while mastering your use of the Electric weapon. CWU-01P is also quite difficult unless you're 100% ready for it. The Boss Rush is really hard because there are no health pickups. The only thing that allowed me to keep my sanity was the REWIND BUTTON as I played through this game in the Legacy Collection. MEGA MAN 11 is an awesome game and looks just as good on SWITCH as it does on my liquid cooled RTX 4090 monster. Fun to play, more fun to master. The music isn't great at first but it grows on you. I appreciate the rebooted storyline. They could have included a little more like the first Ruby Spears Mega Man episode, but the game works really well for the new generation's introduction to Mega Man. Mega Man 9 and 10 are basically Mega Man 2 clones. MM2 set the stage for all of the successors. I appreciate the music, the stage design and the weapons. IT's tough, but after you get used to the classic Mega Man games, it's not impossible and it's rather enjoyable. Mega Man 2 is definitely my favorite Mega Man game. The game is perfectly balanced. The enemies are memorable. The music is perfect. The unlimited continues make retries easy. It's not difficult to master MM2. It's easy for a casual play through in about an hour.
