The quest 2 has to be my favourite but I would love a valve index for things like vr chat. But the Google cardboard… it’s just too powerful.

my tier list would definitely have the quest 2 on top because even though Mark Zuck Deez….. owns it, it is the best vr headset for most people because it doesn’t require a computer, and its one of the cheapest.

As someone who has literally only used a Quest 2 and a PSVR throughout the past 2 and a half years, this video was really helpful because it’s always great to have an opinion on different headsets that isn’t from the News or someone who was paid to promote it, thank you GetHip! 💜

I didn't have a gaming pc until this year, I was a bit skeptical about buying a full pc-vr headset because I didn't know if my computer had the ability to run smoothly. Then thanks to your videos I was finally convinced to pull the trigger and buy a quest 2, now I can play RE4 and even enjoy pc-vr games. thanks for your videos man.

The controllers of the CV1 with the inverted halos where arguably some of my favorite controllers with the Index if only the index controllers weren’t as fragile

The index is easily S or A tier. Despite it's problems, Valve will RMA no questions asked. No other company on this list will replace parts for free like Valve will. Also, you put the Vive under the Oculus CV1? Both were out at the same time and the Vive was hands down the better headset. The tracking was better and had full room tracking. The CV1 barley worked for room scale games. I think you are an Meta fanboy, you didn't even mention you have to buy a better strap for the Quest 2. This is a very biased tier list. Before you call me a Valve fanboy, I agree with the Quest 2 being S tier. I have both headsets and the Q2 is an amazing headset for the insanely low price. Despite this, the index is still my go to headset to play PCVR games. The index has a larger FOV, refresh rate, and the finger tracking controllers make it a more immersive experience.

Even with as many issues as it has, I think adding in some middle tiers for stuff like the index and psvr would have been interesting as they both are trying to do stuff for the VR space despite not being the best. Also, I liked Google cardboard because I understood what it was supposed to be and found it interesting enough.

Although the smartphone VR series was what got me into VR, the HTC VIVE was what kept me in. I currently own a quest 2 and is enjoying VR daily. I would probably rank Quest 2 - S , HTC VIVE - A , and Smartphone - around C

That first rating just earned you a sub, most people would see the phenomenal headset and rank it s no sweat but you took the viewer into account and understood nobody is purchasing that headset and ranked it d, I love it

The quest 2 is by far my go to, however I do think index could potentially be higher up on the list.

Had the quest 2 for 2 months and it stills surprise me what it can do with it's price and what a crazy world it get me into. Of course I would like to have a better fov and a better performance and resolution etc, but I think it's such a great starting point to get into vr. I don't like meta, but I appreciate the product.

I have had my quest 2 for around a year now and its great. Originally i was running it with a gtx 1080 and recently upgraded to a 3080 ti. The difference in the video codec on 30 series is massive, so much sharper on the newer gen card. My biggest complaint about the quest 2 is that it becomes uncomfortable to wear very quickly and its a bit too front heavy so during a session it starts to fall down your face and you lose clarity. I would use it more if it wasn't so uncomfortable.

Quest 2 is my favourite VR headset, I use to have a PS VR and the wires weren’t that long and got tangled easily. However, the quest 2 has an easy setup and no wires. I have never used a VR which connects to a PC , so I don’t know the lengths of how far VR can go.

I have a rift s and I love it! Aside from having to buy an adapter for it, I love this headset

I have a hp reverb and it is AMAZING the graphics are great the price is ok, the only small problem is that it is a little bit heavy but i greatly recommend it!

I own a reverb g2 and have used a quest 2. I would definitely say that the g2 is better in almost every way, with the only advantage of the quest 2 being the ability to play wireless and the low price.

I believe that you forgot that the Reverb G2 got a hardware update changing the camera positons fixing the subpar tracking, making it an actual roomscale vr option. A very good one too.

Biased af, Quest 2 can't get an S bc of facebook. I own one and I love it, but I'd put the Index over the quest 2 any time

I would just add the Quest 1 is OLED. It's honestly the big shortcoming for the Q2 for me. So many games have dark voids that just don't look good on it. I honestly kind of want to get a Q1 as well JUST because of the OLED.

I've had tons of issues using the quest 2 on my pc to the point that I'm almost convinced the issues are because meta wants users to use standalone instead of pcvr. It's still good for the money, but now that I know that I'll be using vr a ton, I'm saving for an index

I recently upgraded from Vive to Meta Quest 2 and it is a really good headset for the price. My tier list largely would match yours other then the Piamax, cant rank it have not tried it as of yet.

As someone who mainly uses VR for flight/racing sim, I regret selling my original HP Reverb for a Quest 2. The SDE is just too noticeable on the Q2. If I can't read the HUD on an aircraft then there's no reason to fly it. I'm considering buying the Reverb G2 V2.

Really like the list! Just a fyi for the future, usually tier lists order within a tier from left to right to denote how good it is compared to its competitors. The Oculus GO deserves F, but it should definitely have been at the top of F to the left compared to the Google Cardboard on the F right

Quest 2 is definitely my favorite headset, obviously, because it's just amazing in every way other than the Facebook account issue. The Rift CV1 is amazing. Other than the graphics and tracking, the whole feel of the headset is better than any other VR Headset I've used. I've never used the Xtal before, but it looks really good. I would say it goes into third place, with the weight weighing it down. PSVR is actually one of my favorite headsets. The headstrap is amazing, and very comfortable. The only bad thing is the outdated graphics and tracking, but these will be fixed in the PSVR 2. The Pimax 8K X sounds pretty good. Other than the issue I've seen with things not loading in properly, and the setup being difficult, the graphics and wide FOV sound amazing; fifth place. The pricing is the only thing holding it down. I've seen your review on the Pimax it's a good thing to go off of. The Valve Index I would say go to sixth place. The tracking is pretty good, but the lens issue is just way too much. And the controller thumbstick drift is something I had no idea about. The audio is really the only thing helping it. The Valve index was a big step in VR, as you said, but again, it wasn't very comfortable. I had no idea what the Valve Cosmos is lol nor do i know what a HP Reverb is. The Rift S isn't that good of a headset, and the only reason it's not last is because the Google Cardboard. The Oculus Go wasn't THAT good of a headset, but it wasn't a bad headset, but it just isn't worth it at all. It was Oculus' first standalone headset, so it was really a test headset. Google Cardboard was what gave me my first VR experience, I added a strap to it back in the day and loved jumping onto youtube and wacky VR Mobile games. I can’t not love it, after all it made me hyped and I now own a Rift because of it.

Finally! Someone agrees with me in the Quest 2! I say the quest 2 is an S teir headset because I enjoy being able to play with friends on the go or being stationary. The setup is pretty straightforward and is not overly complicated like most others would *seem* to be. Sometimes less is more. What makes it better is that us quest users can utilize Sidequest for apps and settings that aren't even in the store, such as QuestCraft and custom homes. And because of the fact that the Quest 2 is relatively cheap, that would make it an S plus for me

Wished you talked about the first quest, I had this thing before my quest 2 and there's a lot of things I wish that made it to the sequal, like the controllers being fucking amazing (not to mention the magnet battery slides compared to the impossible to open quest 2 controllers) and the stepping stone it had for the quest 2

Even against modern VR headsets, the vive is still pretty good for pcvr. You can get a full kit nowadays and index controllers for ~$500 which has worked much better than the quest 2 for me.

I have the quest 1 already from christmas in 2019, in a few days at christmas in getting the quest 2, quest 1 was already good but apparently quest 2 has like 50% better performance and graphics which sounds extremely powerful and good so I can't wait to try it

I just bought a quest 2 am yet to recieve it, I almost bought the rift S. I’m so glad I did my research. I thought because it was oriented for pc use it would have full focus on graphics, tracking and lightweight. Boy was I wrong.

lol i remember in like 4th grade i aksed my mom for a vr and she got me a google cardboard.....years later im asking for a vr again and my parents are thinking about getting me an oculus 2 and upgrading my pc!

I still rather use the index or any other type of headset over the Quest 2. Look I get the appeal but the whole Facebook and other things I don’t feel comfortable doing, so I much rather just stick to Index or any other headset. If you like the Quest, more power to you, but for me I’ll just pass and go for any other headset, costs and other things be damned.

I have only tried three headsets. Of those I would rate the Quest 2 as a B, Quest 1 as C and the Oculus Go as F. Quest 2 is great value for money but it has so many flaws that there's no way it deserves an S rating. Also it doesn't make sense to exclude the Quest 1 but to include all the other discontinued headsets.

I just ordered my quest two and am really looking forward to it, but I eventually want to upgrade to an index.

Man the Samsung gear vr was my first headset. I figured out how to get that thing working with my pc and played Skyrim in 3D using tridef and a controller. While it was cool, it really made me want more. Glad it’s much easier to get into be now.

I've only used the Oculus DK1, Oculus CV1, Sony's PSVR and the HTC Vive, and personally I'd have to say the CV1 was my favourite and is still in use today. DK1 was my first proper foray into VR and it was glorious, brought it 'round to friends and family with a laptop and had everyone try it out for fun and absolutely everyone loved it, but it was glitchy and lengthy to set up, with lots of cables. (Didn't get the DK2, I was still enjoying my DK1) I then tried the HTC Vive for a while at a friend's house, was fairly blown away, actually getting to use my hands and move around much more seamlessly, pretty incredible and the tracking was pretty good too, don't recall ever having issues with it, clarity was pretty phenomenal too in comparison to my DK1, but I found it rather heavy and the controllers were the opposite of ergonomic. Tried also a PSVR, sure, better than DK1, but jeez it was pretty horrible, clarity was okay, controllers abysmal, heavy and even looked stupid, hell the DK1 looked better, looked like I was wearing a toilet seat! Then I got myself the Oculus CV1, for me, it was a better headset by far, superior controllers, a no worries battery issue (just swap em out good to go), good clarity and durability. I still use the same CV1 today, now with 3 sensors. The only issue I've had with the headset is a common one- and it's that the cable gets damaged fairly easily and support was dropped way too soon, and with no more replacement cables being made, my headset will eventually become a paperweight. I was lucky in that although supported had ended, my cable died a mere 2 weeks before my 2-year warranty ran out, so they sent me a new cable and I am still using that one today. That cable is, as expected, also on it's last legs, but I have some people willing to give me their cable if mine breaks. So the CV1 is the best headset for me currently Don't get me wrong, I'd love an Index, but it's expensive- and while I could save up for the Index, I wouldn't be able to easily run it, as although the rest of my PC is new, my GPU is not, being almost 6 years old. Still works well for the CV1's resolution even today, being an Nvidia Titan X Pascal, it makes sense it would last quite a while, but for the Index resolution? Not much hope I'm afraid. I'll probably retire my CV1 whenever I find the money to upgrade both my GPU and get whatever the next VR headset is at the same time, until then, I'ma keep cannibalising old CV1's for their cables. Edit1: Tbh, I only buckled into buying a CV1 because I couldn't get my DK1 to work in VRChat (which I really enjoyed after using my DK1 on the "VR Mode" for Second Life)

The Google cardboard has got to be one of my favorites My grandfather had one he’d let us use every week and he ended up passing away early 2022 he was a great grandfather but I still have that headset He also got me the quest 2 before he passed ❤

Got my Quest 2 a bit less than a week ago, and although I don’t like contributing to the monopoly, for someone who doesn’t own a PC atm it’s perfect, and I absolutely love the thing thus far. It definitely has some flaws, but it was the best option for me and I love VR. Cool to see the other headsets, and hopefully I’ll be able to try PCVR when the Steam Deck ships!

I have to say, I really liked the valve index but I decided to go with quest 2 , honestly I didn't know that I would hate index after that. The virtual desktop makes my vr experience 10x better because no cable so yea oculus is amazing the only problem is the closed eco system.

I just got my first PCVR headset (HTC Vive Pro 2). Although it does have it's issues with glare it's amazing. In-game most of the issues are unnoticeable as well.

Hi I am evaluating the Rift S and Quest 2. Considering that I would use it purely for the PC, that I can't stand depending on a battery and that my PC may not handle the additional compression work to send the video via Quest Link (thus having latency and artifacts graphics), does it seem crazy to you to buy a used Rift S for € 250 instead of a new Quest 2 for € 350?

Loved this and agreed with most of it, but i do feel the og vive deserves more credit it was basically just a slightly better rift. All of my friends got into vr with this headset and it has done a lot for the community. I was considering getting one before the quest 2 128 came out.

I really love my Quest 2. It is convenient to use, is PC compatible, and lower priced. My complaints? largely the field of view. It's so narrow compared to others. I wish I had a wireless headset, fov like the Pimax, and well functioning software for both pc and standalone. the Quest 2 will hold me over for now.

I have a quest 2 I use for pcvr and "Provided it actually works" Perfectly sums up why I'm still not willing to buy an index for my pc... if it was truly fixed up and not so inconsistent I wouldn't even mind the price tag, although it still feels steep nowadays. As for the other options... they all seem to either be outdated, incredibly expensive or only a small upgrade from the Quest 2 right now. I don't really consider myself as a Quest 2 fanboy or anything, like I really would love to pick up a dedicated PC headset but with the added convenience of being standalone, regular added features and very well functioning wireless on PC via airlink I still can't find a dedicated PC headset that really warrants the cost of an upgrade right now. Hopefully we see something this year, there's so much in the works right now!

Quest 2 got me into vr so it's clearly on the top. I've used the psvr and thought it was really comfortable but not as good looking when you use it. I've also used the original oculus rift and I enjoyed it, despite it being heavy on the head. So, quest 2, then oculus rift, then psvr. Thanks for the vid man :)

cv1 is still like one of the best echo arena headsets, also probably the most likely reason someone would buy it today

Just bought my first vr headset. Long story short I only paid $150 for a 256gb Quest 2 with Kiwi Elite Strap and Kiwi protector kit after using a bunch of travel points I got through work. Can't wait to use it this weekend.

I personally love my oculus rift cv1, although i don't have many tracking issues due to mounting the cameras, high up in the room plus having 3 cameras helps. Outside looking in tracking seems to work the best as opposed to having inside out tracking. If there were cameras on the controllers themselves inside looking out tracking could be great but with the quest 2 losing hands behind your back for various shooter games where you have to grab weapons on your back is just not as reliable

As someone who does own both the QUEST 2 and the RIFT S, I currently prefer the QUEST 2 however the RIFT S is till a good headset. For sessions where I am playing half life alyx, beat saber, job sim or mfs 2020; i'd use rift s. However at times when I am playing Echo arena, climb 2 or any others; quest 2 is better. Overall both are good however QUEST 2 is still my prefered choice.

For me, the Oculus Rift still is the perfect vr headset just due to the nostalgia. My lense sadly broke because of an electronic failure after just 3 months of use. After that I used my brothers quest 1 which was great too but can't be compared to thw original rift :)

My first experience with VR was also the gear vr, but I didn't even find it that bad. Of course I knew it was only a demo kinda thing but I think it was nice to get a glimpse for a low price. I got a quest 2 recently and tried finally tried on the gear vr again and now I see what you mean, it really doesn't measure up (unsurprisingly) but I had to compare it directly to really notice it. I don't know, I don't even mind the stock head strap of the quest so I might just not have very high standards

Just got the cv1 as my first pcvr headset(not including the Quest 2) and I love everything about it except the display. I've owned the Quest 1, Quest 2, PSVR and Gear VR.

Interesting. I have never heard anyone complain about the cv1s tracking before unless they were using a two sensor set up.

My tier list would definitely have the quest 2 on top of the list as it is a very great pathway into vr gaming as well as being very budget friendly compared to other vrs.

I got it for Christmas and the Quest 2 Is my first headset and I got to say, Its awesome!

Ive had the Valve index for over a year now, Ive had no problems with it and after my torture nothing has broke. I'd recommend it to someone who has a pc who can run it and want to have an awesome experience in vr.

The Quest 2 is really good, but I gotta say the View-Master is somewhere up there for me.

The HP reverb g2 V2 and the quest 2 are the only ones I've had and we all know about the quest 2 but the HP reverb g2 V2(the HP for short) is amazing for PCvr without going into debt sure you get a couple of flaws with it but it also is not a 1000 dollars my only real complaint with hp is the controllers which are horrible but I can get over it considering you can change the buttons but I think its worth it Edit I should mention that I do use it for games like Pavlov and onward and other games like that

I don’t personally think that the rift s deserves that low of a rating because it’s a great introduction to vr. After the discontinuing of the rift s, it has become more affordable and worth.

I've gone from Google Cardboard to Gear VR to PSVR to Index to Quest 2 and I agree with this list. The Index is a great piece of tech but for how much the Quest 2 can do at a third of the cost, I kind of regret buying it in the hype of HL:A. Thankfully I was able to sell it to cover the cost of the Quest 2, some accessories, and some games plus while still pocketing a couple hundred dollars.

I've only had the quest 2 so far and i'm planning on the getting the valve with some added accessories to keep it from overheating since I know that's a issue. Quest 2 in my experience wasn't great because it could barely run certain games or I had a hard time connecting it to my computer and it was still brand new. It was bought a few months ago but it still had tons of issues including the hardware because it would crash or freeze while loading games or if you took your headset off. I'm hoping the Valve will prevent that with a beefier hardware spec so that I can play games smoother.

Yes, the google cardboard was mt first exposure to VR as my teacher had one and I got one myself, and it was so cool. I loved it despite it falling apart, but I mean come on, it’s cardboard, it’s made to test vr and see if it’s something you like, not to be an actual device to use often for real use. I then had Nintendo Labo, which similarly was cardboard-based but more robust with a plastic lens holder. It too did not have a head strap, and used a device not made for VR so that obviously held it back as well, but it was cool for what it was. I just got a Quest 2, and it’s definitely the best VR I’ve had at home, and I’m glad to know I made the right choice.

Still using the original rift which i bought in 2017... watching a load of vr vids again as considering the quest 3, know not mentioned here but down the rabbit hole of vr content 😂

I feel like if the hardware issues with the index were fixed and with an increase to the resolution to completely eliminate screen door effect it would get an A rank mainly due to it’s high price tag and weight it wouldn’t get an S

Rift Cv1 is my go to for the past 2 years now no problem only thing i have had to fix is the earpieces they are a bit flimsy just gotta be gentle with those but everything else works great

imo rift s shouldve been higher than F... its my first vr headset and got me to enjoy PCVR as a whole while able to explore both the great steam and oculus games. although it has flaws its a decent headset for PCVR
