Nash has been unreal for me, been running mcdavid as a center with mackinnon and Nash on the wings. Haven’t had a second thought about trading in Modano
This is the exact same for me I started nash on the second line because mcjeaus is better but he was tto good to not be on the first lin e so I moved mcdavid to centre and mario down one and now my first line is toty mac toty mcdavid tb nash and second line is xf hughes pi howe and pi mario
@SleevelessGaming Great breakdown of the new TB’s! A couple of things that I have noticed, as I have built all four and been fortunate enough to also keep Modano! In terms of a centre man, Arnott is amazing! I am already quite proficient at faceoffs since I watched your faceoff video from a while back and also have integrated a few techniques of my own! With Arnott I virtually win every faceoff and before my win percentage was around 80 to 83%. Secondly.. I discovered in the short time that I have used Arnott.. that he is able to produce more goals if he shoots from just inside the blue line.. and he is really good at covering the vacant space that his teammates leave if they take the puck for a run in the offensive zone! Rick Nash is also quite good but is not better than Modano since Modano can provide you with lineup flexibility and has 97 speed and acceleration, whereas Nash can only get a maximum of 97 speed! That aside, Nash is really good at being aggressive in getting to open pucks that are in the offensive zone and also he’s very good at finding the open spaces for one-timers. I have tried a variety of attributes on him and he seems to respond the best to silver elite edges, silver puck on a string and silver make it snappy! Having unstoppable force on him is also effective but I felt it made him less agile! Sami Salo is the real deal! His shot from the point is deadly and if you put silver elite edges on him, he is as swift and agile as Heiskanen or Makar.. which makes him more of a threat! And although he doesn’t have any hitting abilities like truculence or shutdown, he is really good at hitting and I have not noticed him being much worse or less effective than 98 Doughty or TOTY Heiskanen with gold shutdown activated! Robinson is also quite good although I am still getting adjusted to him! Perhaps I am imagining things but I have felt that the hitting in the game was nerfed a bit during the recent update which makes it hard to pinpoint if it is the card or the update that has made hitting seem less impactful! Robinson is still an exceptional skater and has a great slap-shot from the point! I don’t miss Aucoin or Reghr! Nor do I miss Mitchell or Shanahan or LeClair! But I also have all of the men’s TOTY cards and 98 Doughty and 90 Bobby Orr ! There was not a significant Wow moment with these new TB’s like the 90 TB’s… let us hope that the 96’s have some good choices.. and hopefully we get four of them again! But I am pleased with how these new ones perform and I will tinker with my lines to find the perfect balance! I also have Mario, Gretzky and Howe all maxed at 93.. and they will be 94’s on Wednesday at 10 pm EST! Thanks for the great analysis! Keep up the great work! I always appreciate that you don’t take shortcuts or do a half assed job when breaking down an event or TB’s!
Can't believe so many people are down on Arnott in the comments here. I got the most wins I've ever had in Champs this week and he had the highest points/game I've ever had a player get in getting there this year. Mostly assists--i don't think he scored until like my 9th win or something--but I felt like he was awesome defensively and did a good job of controlling the puck well enough for McDavid and Nate to get high quality chances. Pleasantly surprised by Larry too, who felt like he could have had about ten this week if I played better when he had the puck. Their stats didn't blow me away, but they've seem to have that dog in 'em.
Can we talk about New Jersey, Dallas and Montreal have all got 2 team builders in 3 rounds. Also, with having all 4 I just haven't been able to get Arnott or Nash going yet. Arnott at least wins every draw so that's a bonus, but Robinson has been great defensively and Salo good. Not sure what I can't get the other 2 going yet
Looking for line 2 center but still need too sink power on ups into doughty. Should i put resources into getting Gretzky or Modano? Reason i ask is modan wont reqiure any power ups which lets me finish doughty and then could slot down to 3rd easily later when i get 99?
Wut up sleeves question for a who should you choose: i have 90 modano as my first line c and i have 1 90 tb in my collection and im gonna make another 90 soon. Should i make jason arnott and put modano on the wing or should i make rick nash and let modano at c?
I had 9x90 I made first Robinson because he is my all time favourite and EA made is icon terrible in the past and then Nash and Salo. Modano and Shannan are still in my lineup
I'll make Arnott soon but I don't want to trade in my Nieuwendyk until I build a replacement. Don't want to delete my stats! Then I'll have Arnott, Holik, Nieuwendyk, Hischer down the middle 😂😂
Agree. I get that he doesn't have truculence, but I don't have an issue putting quick pick on him, since that's a key area of defense in this game too. I don't have Makar or Doughty at RHD. I had Aucoin and Next Gen Jiricek. I actually traded in Modano and Aucoin to get Salo just to give my team more balance. Modano was on my 3rd line...and upgrading my LD1 was just too appealing.
Here is a flaw in these ratings. You say Nash is lower because he is relegated to being a #2 (if you have McDavid, as you do). Using that Logic and assuming you have Gretzky (most of us do), Arnott will NEVER be a better center option than him. So now Arnott is at best a #2 as well. Now if you kept Modano because he was too much to give up right now- and I agree, and he is almost the same size as Arnott but much faster… and you have McDavid at #1 and Nash at #2, you have now move Modano to the third RW or keep him as second center. (Hardly worth keeping him and not making Salo to dump him on line 3). I made all 3 but Salo, and kept Modano as my #2 center. I put Arnott as my third RW or 4th line center, which based on the gameplay we both have seen, is where he belongs. I did make the two extra TBs to make this happen as I kept both Modano and Aucoin for now. Historically, Arnott has never been that great in this game and he only gets used for these types of events because of his size. I havent made Salo, but NONE of these new TBs are better than their 90 predecessors IMO.
4:32 well said and very true. I had no problem getting rid of Modano for Arnott but I will say the 93 forwards are not as OP as the 90s were imo. Robinson is my #1 🍻
Not sure, what to make of 4 TB. Will they give us 3 TB next, so we need all 4 93TB and 4 90TB? So if i have the cards, it will be no harm to trade in for all and readd modano and aucoin.
@@Jackemeister 93 robinson not having the strength to knock down jack hughes most of the time kinda sums up all the big players. Good most of the time but you just can't trust them in a long run
I didn't make Salo yet so I can keep Mitchell and Modano for a bit longer until I find suitable replacements. One thing is EA studio developing the NHL series is located Vancouver and they have a serious Canucks bias and I would bet he is extremely well polished because Canucks cards almost always are....just saying a little more polished than most teams.
I don’t get it, sleeves only point Is abilities. It’s a great card without abilities, and with the cost of wheels it’s an easy choice for the second or third pairing defence
I made arnott and god is he bad for what you think he should do. Sleeves is very bad at thinking size means good. PWF cards just play and feel slow reguardless of there numbers. I dont think I have heard one person say Arnott is great, heck most comments seem pissed.
See that’s the issue I have with these cards. I’ve heard tons of great arnott comments and all I can do is give my opinion that I had with each card. He’s been everything I wanted him to be.
@@SleevelessGamingif your d1-2 maybe d3 then hes worth but i can see if your playing below that he wouldnt seem as good n especially if your playing only squad battles but in competitive games hes worth it. You rank your players at top competition n you do say that a lot in your vids so dont sweat it.
These cards are underwhelming and disappointing. Team builders are stupidly expensive so when they come out they should be far superior to the other cards. To make matters worse the salo card isn't even better than the previous cards. At least give the card shutdown or truculence. The new guys running the game are really dropping the ball, it costs them nothing to put out good content. And why drop these with another event? And i agree that it seems some of the devs are fan girls of certain teams that always seem to get cards, there are lots of players who are fans of teams that almost never get good cards, mix it up man.
To solve the team representation issue: they should create team avatar cards that could work like xfactors, 1 fwd, 1 def and 1 goalie each an all time great from each team (xfactors cover current players i guess this could be an improvement of the icon system), that players could level up from the start of the game. And as abilities open up, let the player pick from several choices like they do for synergies. Maybe they could be powered up only with cards from thier own team instead of power ups. Then players could use players from thier favorite teams throughout the game and can ignore the flood of devils cards. And with the current icon system 95% of those cards become almost useless immediately.
