Totally agree about FIN being underappreciated! And I love TRT too, it missed the location specificity for me, but the wow factor of the environments is stunning!
Granted I have not played many ND games and I mainly just appreciate the franchise, but I remember being constantly scared playing Legend of the Crystal Skull as a kid. The cemetery maze was awesome. I'd probably put that on my favorites list because of the atmosphere.
I just want to say how much I love this video and how you discuss and describe the various atmospheres. It’s a comfort listen for me, and I come back every few months to enjoy it again. Thanks so much! ❤
I pretty much agree with this entire list. I'd switch some around, but the games you chose do feel top 10ish. Tho I'd personally trade Haunted Mansion for Sea of Darkness. I just love the snowy, dark, quaint vibes of SoD and the different places to explore more compared to the still quaint, but less adventurous exploration since it's all taking place in one mansion. And Blackmoor Manor for Alibi in Ashes. BM for the same reason as HM, and AiA because I love being able to explore River Heights. Reading through my reasonings... now I wonder if I may be a little claustrophobic when it comes to smaller feeling/seeming maps to explore.
I love your list and agree with most of it, but my changes would be rather radical. I would have kicked both FIN and DOG off of the list entirely and here’s why. 1) FIN: admittedly this may be partly because I don’t love the final scene. I tend to be someone that enjoys a game to be whole. To me that means it must have 4 things. 1. A great story 2. A beautiful environment 3. Lots of things to learn from but are incorporated well into the game 4. Most importantly a decent amount of fun puzzles that contribute to the game’s progression. The final scene fell flat because of how small the environment was for me. And how weird some of the mechanisms were to reach places, although admittedly those made sense with the storyline. I’m nota huge fan because It also had little to no puzzles and was only story. It was like reading a book and that’s great because I love reading, but when I’m expecting gameplay and engagement, it just felt disappointing. 2) DOG: this one mostly has to do with growing up near multiple beautiful hiking trails my whole life. Those trails just fell flat, which is a shame because if not the game would probably be my favorite. There could have been so much more such as a stream with rocks to forge over (second chance falling), mushrooms and other plant life (the plant life felt monotonous and one note) and a possible waterfall. There just were so many opportunities that were not taken and so the trails were just so tedious to me. It’s actually so unfortunate. The two I would bring into the list would be SSH and SAW. I’ll probably get into why later in a comment below.
Your videos are my favorite part of the day. I've been super anxious about going back to college, but your streams and videos have been providing a much-needed distraction. Hoping the Waverly stream on Friday gives me the motivation I need to go back Sunday. :)
I’ve been so worried about going back to school while having two jobs. Your videos have been so helpful in motivating me! I start school today so things are sure to change! Thank you so much! Love your videos!
Thank youuuu for the morning upload!! I always open youtube while I'm drinking my coffee, and now I've got the perfect video to put on! 🔎 Edit: okay, now that I've watched, here are my thoughts! 🕵🏻♀️ I loved your list and reasoning! And MHM getting the love it deserves 😍 The only one I wouldn't personally have on there is GTH, and I would put TRT in somewhere in place of it 💜
Totally understandable! I also LOVE hearing that you got to watch with your morning coffee! That's my favorite time to watch videos too so it means so much to hear that!
I loved watching this! I would have ranked some lower than you based on the fact that there’s only one - like blackmoor, haunted mansion, etc. I love having multiple locations!
Great video! I really agree with your list, but I was a bit surprised that Last Train To Blue Moon Canyon or Warnings at Waverly Academy weren't #1, considering how much love you shower them with 😂. But I do agree with #1, its really well done!! Could you do a video on the Top 10 most UNDERRATED Nancy Drew Games or the Top 10 most HATED Games OR even the Top 10 most acclaimed games, those will be fun!
I want to bump some of these games off the list and put in Crystal Skull, Castle Malloy and Captive Curse! And near the top! Their spooky environments (my biased favorite kind) are amazing! How could they not be in the top 13?!
@Schuylerville Well that’s a good point about the house. I do like the older lady’s room which is creepy, the secret passage is cool and even that other bare room is scary, but hey it has a lot of chocolate bars! Lol. Also love the entire backyard area and cemetery plus the wee bit of the French Quarter we get to see. And the rain relaxes me believe it or not.
@Schuylerville Yes can’t wait; just seeing the video and pictures it looks so good! I’m sure that will make my top 10, and something will have to come out in its place 🧐
I won't lie, as your list was reaching the top, I was thinking to myself, "Oh sweet, TRT might be number 1!" LoL. Still, it's great to see so many of the classics in this ranking. I think one of the reasons I prefer replaying the classic games for like the 100th time over playing some of the newer games is because the environments in the earlier titles are all so incredible. A lot of the locations in the newer games feel a little lacking in comparison, at least in my opinion.
best ND locations Warnings at waverly academy deadly device Alibi in ashes Curse of blackmoor manor Shadow of the waters edge captive curse Tresure in the royal tower Legend of the crystal skull phantom of venice ghost of thorton hall
How is SAW not on here??? It must have missed by one single star. I’m also not sure what is “wow” about MHM. I guess I didn’t think it was that beautiful, probably because the graphics are so old.
