i am finally sitting down today to rank the tortured poets department!! it’s been 2 months since the album came out which is absolutely INSANE! now that i’ve had more time with these songs i feel like i’ve really gotten to know the lyrics and which ones resonate with me the most and which ones maybe not as much. i apologize in advance if i offend anyone with my ranking lol as always, this is all in good fun, i love this album so much & obviously i love pretty much every song taylor puts out haha.

I really feel like so long london is the track five because it is the only song on the standard that is unambiguously about joe. it's the context we need to understand the story of the rest of the album, the unhealed wound that fueled her manic summer fling. the story is incomplete without it, and because I think it is the core wound, it really does become central to the emotional narrative. you don't get to loml or smallest man without first experiencing so long london. so I think that's why it's the track five. It feels like it was her way of saying "look this was the real problem for all that time, this is what I was really failing to deal with, this is what I was most upset about." Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know her, but that's my interpretation of at least the story of the album.

I didn’t even notice! I skip over the song Evermore every time, I forgot there’s a title track on that album. I can’t stand that guy’s voice. 😵 Only time I’ve heard it all the way through was when she played it at The Eras Tour.

I think So Long, London is more vulnerable than loml because there is more depth of emotions in it. There’s sadness, hurt, anger, and there is also acceptance and hope all in one song. loml is good too obviously, but it’s flat emotionally. it’s just heartbreaking and sad

I think, the reason why loml and The Smallest Man were not track 5 is because, there's a story in the end loml - heartbreak from Joe I Can Do It - going through the process of two heartbreak The Smallest Man - heartbreak from Matty, (that's also maybe the reason why I Can Do It is in the middle) The Alchemy - like moving on with someone(arguably about Travis, arguably) Clara Bow - an ending, about the start of her career But could just be me And since they're in the end, naturally, they can't be at track 5

So like ik that like everyone is on and off about so long london for a track 5 but i think not all track fives have to be the saddest song but the ones that spill the tea i guess and i really like it the only other option i guess for track 5 would be the smallest man who ever lived. People who think So Long, London isn't a "real" track 5 only do so because of the production, it is SUCH a vulnerable and personal song it baffles me people don't think so. These two parts make it a perfect track 5 alone: "And you say I abandoned the ship But I was going down with it My white knuckle dying grip Holding tight to your quiet resentment and My friends said it isn't right to be scared Every day of a love affair Every breath feels like rarest air When you're not sure if he wants to be there" "You swore that you loved me but where were the clues? I died on the altar waiting for the proof You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days And I'm just getting color back into my face I'm just mad as hell cause I loved this place" Like WHAT? Some of her most beautifully heart wrenching and vulnerable lyrics about the end of her longest and most serious relationship.

My Love Story songs on the standard album are So Long London and Guilty As Sin (Why would you put So Long London in dust? That makes me so mad). What is cathartic to me is that I have seen the Poets Era in the Tour before the Nina “The Taylor Swift Encyclopaedia” Shelby has. That makes the songs hit different to me now. My show (Edinburgh N2) had these surprise songs: 🎸 The Bolter x Getaway Car 🎹 All The Girls You Loved Before x Crazier I hope we are still able to talk after those songs. I manifested Getaway Car as I have that on the back of my car with a Vinyl Decal. I feel that Taylor will do a musical on her music in next few years or so. There’s so much of it that it would make a great 3.5 hours Broadway or West End show. One that could be toured or placed in theatres world wide. Singing would be encouraged!!!

Fresh out the slammer is my favorite song from TTPD. Also I started playing guitar recently, my dad got one for me and him to share last week. I've been wanting to learn guitar for a while because I've been writing songs since November 2022 and I've been wanting to have music with my songs. Once I've learned some chords (I've learned a couple already but I'm working on some more) I'm going to check out some more of your Taylor swift song tutorials. With the track 5 being either sll or loml I think she made the right choice because choosing sll kind of starts making the album more sad but if loml was it would’ve just been a plummet especially after down bad and Mbobhft

I think Guilty as Sin...? is Swiftie's overall favorite song from what I've seen and heard. 1. Love that Carolina has a line "guilty as sin" so it connects those songs. 2. "I keep these longings locked in lowercase inside a vault" always has my mind racing like... WHERE TAYLOR!?

To me So Long, London production sounds like sprinting away from a relationship that was holding you back for so long. If you listen to music while you work out then i think it's a great song to run to. honestly it makes sense to have So Long, London as track 5 because if loml or Smallest Man Who Ever Lived was track 5 it makes no sense to have But Daddy I Love Him follow that you know? BDILH _has_ to be the track 6 because the best bops always follow track 5s and So Long London has no other place on the album that makes sense

Omg I’m so sorry but I just need to rant for a second. So long London is the most track 5 that ever track 5ed. The upbeat tempo is just to stimulate anxiety. It’s still a very slow song in nature and it has the most heartbreaking lyrics on the whole album. Swifties should know a track 5 is not just about “being sad.” It’s about being vulnerable and honest and sometimes that includes feelings of sadness. Loml is literally not even sad when you realize it was never that deep. She literally calls that time “temporary insanity.” I honestly think that’s why she was borderline laughing or at least smiling while performing it. It’s so overly dramatic and she knows that. “It was momentary, it was unnecessary. What a bland goodbye.” How on earth does that compare to “I’m pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free” or “you say I abandoned the ship but I was going down with it. My white knuckle dying grip holding tight to your quiet resentment.” Dang. Like they’re not even in the same league when it comes to vulnerable and heartbreaking lyrics. I don’t get why everyone is so tricked by the sad piano of loml. I mean it was so unserious that she wrote the title in text format 💀
