In this video I discuss the fighters with the most star potential in the UFC. I discuss various fighters like Ian Garry, Sean O'Malley, Leon Edwards, Merab Dvalishvili, Ilia Topuria, Alexander Volkanovski & More. #ufc #mma
One thing Garry doesn't have is the Irish fans behind him. If you think anyone is flying over to support him, think again. I actually think if he headlines ufc Ireland next year he'll get booed.
@@MHobanYou're on your own there. I train in a big mma gym and nobody I know wants to see him win lol. Neither does anyone I'm friends with who watches mma. He's universally disliked.
@@MHobanand I hate that way of thinking that you have to support someone just because they're also Irish, even though you dislike them lol.. makes no sense. Plenty of other actual good dudes who id like o see win than some egotistical pr1ck just because he was born in the same country as me.
Dricus has this sort of golden path laid out to become a big star. He has this beef with Sean and Izzy and if sleeps them both he'll syphon their fans. Then guys like Bo and Khamzat coming up are more stars for him to take out. He doesn't even have to do shit but win
@@MAT-wn5fr He pretends he deep dives into the internet for his findings. Such as the “shout out to the puppy” comment and the WAG book, and doesn’t give credit to the original source.
I just don’t see the hype behind Benoit Saint Denis. To put him at the same tiers as guys like Strickland islam and Chimaev. His name won’t draw ppv it’ll be the guy he’s fighting
He has a exciting fighting style, comes from a country without many stars (France) so his people will support him and he has potential to be a great fighter. The video is more about the fighters future, not the present
Yeah I know. Khamzat is sinane hopefully he reignites his fire latest come out to the cage was not recorded which confused me I was epxecting him to run out all hyped out but they skipped it.
The Izzy fans coping cause he reached his status in under 10 fights😹 most of adesanyas fights are forgettable his most important ones have the name Alex pereira in them
Every tier list video you always end up putting too many people in the same tier. This kind of defeats the purpose of tier lists. It would be nice if you varied a little more in your videos
Id personally say someone like Bo Nickal who is generally just a no-bs cocky dude who always trashtalks and can fight has just the same amount of star potential if not more than ian garry. This would be like saying colby covington was gonna be a mega star because "oh people dont like them and theyll tune in to see him lose". Fans aren't stupid and can see right through someone like that. Someone like Khamzat or Bo who is cocky and annoying without having to fake it has way more potential. Some funny TMZ style story that got a lot of attention is not an indicator of being a conor mcgregor
I know you don’t like Adesanya but dude sells more PPV than Khabib (when he’s not fighting McGregor) Adesanya sold 800k against Jan blachowich 700k vs Costa Khabibs biggest PPV excluding the McGregor fight was 675k at UFC 254 vs Justin Gaethje Biggest stars in the UFC Tier 1. McGregor Tier 2. Adesanya, Khabib Jones
@@SoyDuckHot Ilia has way more star potential than O Malley thats true if thats what you mean haha he has whole Spain and Georgia behind him aswell and Global Super Superstars like football Player Sergio Ramos attending his fights
Solid list. I would drop Benoit Saint Denis, Diego Lopez, Shavkhat, and Topuria one level. They are great fighters, but they don’t have the personality or competition to reach the next level. Belal can be bumped up some if he wins. You’re underestimating how big a Palestinian champion can be given the current political climate, especially one who has had to claw his way to the top more so than arguably anyone else in his division’s history. If McGregor sniffs a title shot - with a win over Chandler at lightweight he might - and faces off against Islam, you’ll see Islam surge to the next level if he gets a dominant win.
bro please, u got no idea what ur talking about. having a whole country behind u in the case for merab and ilia topuria is enoguh star power. we dont care what americans or westerners think, those two are stars and the pride of georgia already
This may be a bad take but I think if Manel Kape keeps talking💩and winning he can become the McGregor of 125. Also the only reason why people know Ian Garry is because the wife drama other than that nobody is tuning to see Ian Garry so once that boils over he will go back to being irrelevant
You should predict how many title defenses you think the current champions will have in 2024 and who will lose the belt in 2024 (volk obviously but other than that)
Maybe Khabibs undefeated streak is the 1 factor that makes this different but can’t you apply the same logic about islam & khamzat to garry? He’ll always be in conors shadow even if he’s the better fighter because they’re from the same region & conor did it first
You start by putting Leon at the bottom, the current champ who everybody knows. Then you put the french Benoir guy in „adesanya status“ lol. What are you smoking?
Massive props to LucasTracyMMA for approaching the long game with his Ilia Topuria KOs Volk take. He’s been planting the seeds for a while, so the curse has time to marinate 🤌🏽
A couple of days ago. Lucas Tracey taught me that the way you score a round is: you don’t consider things like back control. The things you score in a round is: •How loud the crowd is •If your favourite fighter does emotes within the round.
That could be said about any of the stars while they where on their rise...when Khabib was fighting Michael Johnson he wasn't doing any numbers UNTIL he fought Conor
@@allpraisewebb1142 Khabib was already a star and a big name he even had 7 million followers prior to the McGregor fight. People like snoop Dogg, the og Ronaldo, cristiano, Paul pogba, Mike Tyson and other celebs I could name were high on him, his fight with Tony was supposed to do big numbers and be still ended up doing 350k against Al laqainta which is something no one would ever be able to do unless they had a name
This is projecting him as a future Star, BSD is 27 years old and has run through every opponent entertainingly besides the the loss to a Brazilian Cheat. He has an entire nation behind him as well. Give it 2 years
I also think a huge heated rivalry is needed to get people invested. Jones/DC, Mgregor/Diaz/Khabib. Problem is that there are very limited ufc superstars in the same weightclass. Rivalries help get the casuals on board
Yeah god I like him as well but I think the human vanity has a significant part to play in how popular certain fighters are. He doesn’t look like a bad ass fighter who you would be scared of if he stepped to you. Maybe in the school shooter kinda way
Shavkat’s last fight against Wonderboy was a bit stinked up because he did have an injury to his foot a couple weeks out from the fight .. which is why he had ankle wraps on .. he had to change his strategy due to the injury and still got the finish .
Hot take: If Merab had O’Malley’s fighting style he would he would be one of the most popular fighters. Has a very underrated personality and is hilarious. His posts on Twitter crack me up and the jacket stealing was great too.
@@JustChill-zd4ib Not sure but for the press conference where sean and dricus got heated, he was using a translator and refusing to go back-and-forth with volk
i definitely think khamzat can be a mega star if circumstances are favourable…..just imagine if he beats sean, adesanya, shavkat, bo nickel…i know its a big ‘if’ but it is possible.
Leon is already a massive star, Lucas doesn’t know he’s a good draw and a huge star in the uk where we all watch and pay for his PPVS but he also is a massive star now overall
leon is not even that beloved here in the UK. Aspinall is definitely more loved, look at his interviews with rio ferdinand and eddie hall, and his story with his dad. Aspinall could defo be a huge 700K+ PPV pull
Sorry but Ian becoming a megastar is such a reach, dude has no personality, zero. He quite literally just parrots old Conor lines from 2016 verbatim. Thats your megastar? The knock off bargain bin conor? I didn't like Colby's stuttering pre written lines but at least they were original even if half of them sucked
That's something Ian will never have. There's no one for him to have a rivalry with at WW. Colby's act got stale, Leon's not a trash talker, Shavkat isn't either. And frankly Ian's terrible on the mic so even if there was someone to work off of Ian doesn't have it in him to help carry it
@@american1207 that's stupid. He doesn't have to have some crazy back and forth, they can be completely polarizing opposites. Aldo and Conor had a thematic opposing personalities with almost no actual interaction, and Aldo could barely speak english. the build was on Conor challenging what was at the time the P4P best on the planet, while his detractors and hardcore fans were scoffing that he would get his head lopped off. A rivalry isn't two idiots tweeting at eachother, it's two opposing forces having an inventible clash over their desires.
@ProtomanButCallMeBlues yea but Conor was great on the mic and gave us iconic lines. Garry is terrible on the mic. "You beat your kids and that's that." That's not Conor lvls of trash talking at all. And every rivalry is opposing forces clashing over desires. That doesn't automatically shoot them into stardom. Sterling Cejudo were opposing forces. That rivalry wasn't big at all. You said he needs a foil but now saying against anyone will do. I don't think Garry Belal is shooting him into stardom and on the same lvl as Jones DC
@american5668 cejudo/sterling was a cheap inauthentic manufactured beef that nobody considers a rivalry because there was no substance. TJ/Garbrant was an rivalry and they were both atrocious on the mike. What ultimately he has to do Is call out everyone that made fun of him, beat them. And then he strikes down the most dangerous guy around him. The problem is guys who are wishy-washy hopping around match ups. Like Colby calling out wonderboy instead of someone like Shavkat.
Khamzat has the Conor mystique and he doesn’t fall into the dagestani trap unlike Islam or the other guys plus he’s from Sweden and has a lot of fans from all over the world. The dude also reached 7.5 million followers on insta faster than any mma fighter ever has before being a champ. Just imagine when he becomes a champion he will probably be able to have atleast 1 fight doing 800k-1 mil PPV
He does not have the Connor mystique 😂. Connor destroyed everyone including champions. Khamzat isn’t beating the middle weight goat in 10 seconds like Connor did to Jose Aldo. Khamzat not getting double champ
@@bobjimbobjim9006 he 100% had that mystique when he first joined the sport. Do you remember when usman and adesanya were at their peak at champions dominating and then out of nowhere khamzat just arrived??? There was a reason why the ufc tried to push khamzat towards leon to give him a title shot. His rise was very similar to Conor until he missed weight and didn’t fight for a whole year. If he had fought Usman or Izzy before they lost Leon and Alex those fights would have done 1 mil PPV + . He also had a whole country backing him up
@@bobjimbobjim9006 I am sorry but conor fought cans. They were good back then but if you look now they were a can by modern standards. Conor got a lucky window in while there were not Khabibs around. Then he got beat by Nate Diaz lol. Pathetic. Even Jake Paul beat Nate Diaz in boxing match. Conor to THAT. Guy does not look like he works out and smokes weed all day. I am sorry but Conor is overrated can with big mouth with no stamina first round knockout artist getting lucky for short period of time. And he knows it and that's why he is so mad on coke nowadays. Coping with undeserved success he got. I want to emphasize that Conor did not retire. He is okay with being washed up and delusional about his skill still. Just like his fans are. Khabib retired before that could even happen. Smart. Conor not so much. It cements the fact that he was always a can since he is so comfortable being one now. Khabib or other high level fighters would not tolerate it.
