If there's one constant among Scooby-Doo writers, it is this: Nobody knows how heavy gold is.

I first watched this series a few years back. Despite being in my mid-20s, the Dr. Coffin character and episode scared me. The combo of a downpour, getting lost in Canada, the sanatorium setting, and the villain's creepy disguise had me questioning if this was really meant for young kids. The no face zombie wasn't a pleasant first watch, either.

If my doctor had the last name of Coffin, I would be looking for a new doctor.

Cobra Commander has indeed fell on hard times.

Dr. Coffin is the only Scooby Doo antagonist that has ever creeped me out.

When you mentioned Velma in curlers, all i could think about is Daphne (in the Scooby Doo Project) saying"at least I try to look feminine" to Velma. 😄

Zombie is definitely one of the scarier episodes. I hope you included the funniest line in any Scooby doo series at the end of the episode. The police chief has the gorilla in custody and asks “What would a gorilla want with these jewels?” (Or whatever it was)

The Harum-Scarum Sanatorium and No Face Zombie are two of my favorite episodes of the Scooby-Doo Show. The ghost of Dr Coffin imo is a really great villain, glad to see his D.O.O. score as high as it is. He may have gotten away with the whole thing if only Fred could follow directions. As for 7:50 the scene has been posted out of context ending at Fred smiling when he lifts the sheets and occasionally will go viral on Twitter. 12:00 this was the one part of the episode I always thought may have actually been Dr Coffin’s Ghost, there is no ledge or anything for the ghost to be standing on outside the window to spook the gang. The No Face Zombie is an amazing prop and if Mr. Dally was that skilled in engineering why be a toy designer? Was shocked to see the No Face Zombie score as low as it did, but explaining the D.O.O. score justified it being where it is. Can’t wait for Mamba Wamba in the next episode.

About the ambulance being able to carry all that gold, it's probably an older model with rear suspension (namely the thing that allows cars to carry things) is probably not too far off from a pickup truck, and if it is a pickup truck suspension then I'm sure it could handle nearly a ton of weight no problem.

I wasn't expecting this Christmas gift but i love it. I like the little dance Scooby and Daphne do at the end of The Mad Doctor episode.

Oh gosh, the infamous No-Face Zombie episode! This episode of this series didn't scare me much at all as a kid, but it completely terrified my younger sister to the point where she'd run out of the room crying once she saw the title card and the first scenes of the episode play on our tv. She has more recently told me that she was horrified by mannequins when she was little and remembers hating this Scooby episode in particular because of the honestly pretty creepy zombie. I can't blame her tbh! Now that I'm an adult and have rewatched the episode a few times, the concept or thought of encountering a creepy, tall, no faced, and limp in one leg zombie really sends a shiver down my spine! This episode is one of my favorites and I agree on your take of the No-Face Zombie being up there in highest spook factor with the Spooky Space Kook Love your content and I'm always excited every time I get a notification on my phone that you uploaded a new Scooby Doo analysis video. You're probably up there as one of my favorite RU-vidrs on this platform and I hope you'll continue doing what you love for a long long time :)

ohhh yeah getting into some of my favorite episodes. the sanitarium episode has always been great. no face zombie episode i didnt like until a few years ago. really looking forward to the next couple batch of videos

I never saw a no face zombie before. Although, I did work with a couple of two-faced zombies in the past.

Jeez, Dr Coffin always freaked me out when I watched that episode. Especially the fact he disguised his stolen gold as dead bodies 😬. Annnnnnd Fred seemed way too excited to see what was under those sheets 😂

The picture of the Gorilla looks a lot more... smug, compared to the Ape Man. Probably because he replaced the villain we were hoping for. I don't know why, but I find that pretty funny.

Just getting around to watching your videos. The No Face zombie still terrifies me to this day, the limp, snarls, and freakishly realistic human bony fingers and hands only make him more terrifying. The Scooby doo show is far and away my favorite iteration of the franchise, and I think the creative team at WB sort of went all out on how terrifying they could make some monsters. The ominous music at the beginning of the episode accompanied with the low moans of the zombie are just as creepy as Lila’s scream of death from the mamba wamba episode. Keep up the good work! Cant wait for season 3, my childhood favorite.

Ah, Dr. Coffin & The No-Face Zombie. Two of my favourite Scooby-Doo Antagonists.... Except, this time, the disguise wasn't even the main "villain", technically. Just another damn gorrila, how unfortunate. Yet another great video, Joe!

Dr. Coffin always used to be the one that frightened me the most. Just something about that face, still gives me the creeps now.

I'd say they had smelting done at sanitarium because the cave was around Niagra Falls and probably couldn't get sunlight in without tunneling up. Makes sense to put it somewhere easier. Also, Dr. Coffin used music to train the dogs so his ghost doing it helped sell it as well as implied it's the only way they are aggressive because otherwise they are calm. And yeah, the No-Face Zombie was a wasted fortune. And a gorilla outfit 😑

The Harem Scarem Sanitarium is one of my favorite Scooby Episodes of all time, mostly because of Dr Coffin. As someone with anxiety around all things medical, a name and design like that were bound to make me on edge. Glad to see his score so high, but I can definitely understand why you weren’t blown away by him or the episode. For me it’s appeal has always been in the grim imagination the Dr Coffin persona stokes, the rainy nighttime imagery, the atmosphere that came so close to recapturing Where Are You, and of course his strange pale gollum like design. And I am definitely here for the aggressive takes, swapping the art mid episode with an explosion was quite the twist. I forgot all about the plot of The No Face Zombie Chase, I started laughing prematurely when you introduced the real disguise as a gorilla and realized where things were headed. This was another fantastic analysis, and a unique one.

I binge-watched your whole series. I really love it and I can't wait for the next part. Esapilly for the renaissance movies those movies got me in to scooby-doo

What a wonderful Christmas gift! HSS is my all time favorite SD episode. Dr. Coffin is a great villain and Dr. Tooksbury is my favorite red herring.

I remember the episode with the mad doctor, but I don't think I remember the one with the faceless zombie android. I really need to revisit the show. Also, I'm surprised you didn't use a clip from a Christmas movie for the spoiler section. It would have been a good fit considering what day it is today. On that note, Merry Christmas.

I loved these episodes a lot. The first episode with the Sanatorium and Dr. Coffin honestly scared me a Lot as a kid! The No Face zombie was a bit creepy but the laugh scene from the Dr. was incredibly scary as kid. Plus I loved the morgue plot of sneaking gold out by disguising it as CORPSES of all things!

Assuming I did the math right, had the No-Face Zombie been the true outfit (and assuming you would've given it a full 5 for Outfit, plus adjusting for the fact that the No-Face Zombie kept the Operation from being a 1), that would've brought his D.O.O. score up to 3. Note to Scooby villains; you should use the scariest/most original monster design that you have as the main outfit.

You said, as the franchise goes on as the fans become Scooby writers they point out that I’ve done this without going over the complicated but the question is whether or not the series takes it serious or not for example, a pup named Scooby Doo one villain had worked for a job at a long time, but wasn’t given a raise. Daphne literally points out he could’ve quit and he admits he didn’t think of that let’s take mystery Incorporated, for example, and one villain was mad that someone stole his invention and literally had to make him a mascot. Daphne pointed out that he could’ve just sued him points out that they take forever and he wanna revenge. Now I think that’s a great example of how later shows have pointed out the villain could’ve done their goals without doing all this stuff but like I said, I think this is one of the first episodes, or one of the most earliest where the villain could’ve used their skills in a more legal and productive way to make money, which I wouldn’t be surprised if at the beginning, it was a reference to comic book villains, doing something similar

Dr. Coffin scared the shit out of me as a kid so I'm not surprised he got such a high score here. Gonna have to disagree with you on the No-Face Zombie episode though, I still really like that one. The sheer randomness of the gorilla showing up made it feel more enjoyably chaotic as a kid. I remember that when I first watched the episode, I thought Dilly was the zombie and that the security guard was the gorilla, mainly because that makes it seem like there's two villains and we don't learn that the guard was kidnapped until Fred says that they found him and Mr. Dally locked up in the storeroom after Mr. Dilly is unmasked.

I recently rented Scooby-Doo Camp Scare to see again cause I haven't seen it in years. It was really fun, and I liked looking at all the details, including a neat little tid-bit about the villain that I noticed that wasn't mentioned. Might be a while before we reach that movie though...

Fred's being passive aggressive. The key words were spoken and they "accidentally" take the road leading to the weird happenings. It's like telling Shaggy and Scooby to not eat the food for the picnic. Fred must have that sweet, sweet mystery. Makes you wonder why they even bothered with the magic lighting,? Since when does the gang ever listen to warnings? It's like a moth to a flame....

Dr Tewksbury was comically baffled and never thought it strange that he was not part of the intake process. I hope folks know that this is not usual practice up here in Canada, I did appreciate that no one said “eh”.

Chances are the orderly was talking about the gold. Meaning the problem wouldnt be patients, or loved ones but him eventually finding out. That orderly is the biggest lose end.

What if the bars of gold were hollow? That could account for the weight on the carts. But make Them less valuable.

2 of my favrotie episodes of the scooby doo sshow. and doctor coffin is well deserved on this spot. he was so scary but also the ludocris amount of gold hee had was far exceeding the risk.

This is just the beginning, as the franchise goes on the schemes, get more and more elaborate, when seeing the special effects later series, do you and the reasons for doing this for many great episodes are going to be brought down. I think it’s even lampshades. They could’ve done this without going through all this complicated crap heck, there’s even an official Scooby comic for sure he just says he can bring his robots to Hollywood and make money in special effects and the guy likes that idea heck how the time is it feels like they’re paying homage to comic book villains games

TIL that both villains who got an overall score of 1/5 were voiced by the same guy, Vic Perrin. Watch one of the two guys he voiced in this series be the third 1/5 villain.

there were no new 5/5's last video so I didnt have anything to update last time but this time there are a couple new 5/5's so here is the updated list which includes the first three video's as well as this one the gator ghoul: Outfit the 10,000 volt ghost: Design the ghost of doctor coffin: Design, Outfit sadly the no face zombie did not get a 5/5 in any of the categories because it wasnt a costume it was a robot and the actual costume in the episode was the ape man 2. at least this show is doing better than where-are-you season 2. I guess we'll see about next video soon.

The No-Faced Zombie is, far and away, my favorite Scooby villain of all time. Dilly in the stupid "Gorilla" costume (did NO ONE learn ANYTHING from the Ape Man debacle) is what taints this episode from the PERFECT rating that it deserves for its titular villain alone!

The very last scene we see of the gang in HSS has Shaggy with his arm around Velma and it’s adorable. She keeps cough syrup for him and he keeps backup glasses for her. They might be a couple.

Don't forget, even the leverage crew knows not to mess with the Royal Canadian mounties! Look just because deadly do right is the example of the Royal Canadian mounties police force detective skills the man was successful 95% of the time and this was also back during not so sensitive situations. That said the amount of gold the guy had to have stolen for either a had to be from a government vocation or B dude found an inference into another world and stole gold from that world but if you went and gone through the trouble of making a portal to another plane of existence why did you steal their gold and not the things that make them really cool I mean even if it was like your generic fantasy world with magic instead of technology the ability of casting spells is ridiculously insane! Especially with most of them having a screen input system that looks like you're playing a modern video game and in that time frame that would be ridiculously insane just saying he had better options if he could actually pull off this scheme if he stole money from a government facility all you had to do was just throw a few plates and it would have been cheaper and more effective and less likely frame to get caught. Either way be thankful that you do not have to deal with the death penalty you're just going to be locked up in prison for the rest of your life! OK the next story I'm gonna let people decide should make a FNAF joke or should I make a different joke?

After having all that gold stolen Canada could only afford to hire one member of law enforcement for the whole country, clearly. Also, Scooby Doo-plicates. I see what you did there. Nice.
