What happened?

@@JeremyAKnight not so much the builder in general, as we’ve had a couple items need trade attention after closing and was handled, but we dealt with their preferred lender and it was a lot of back and forth. Typically we use credit unions and larger banks in past home mortgages and so this time around was a cumbersome experience. Realtor, and builder sales guy were very communicative, but I didn’t like that they made us complete a buyer survey at closing instead of waiting until we were in the home and had a chance to live in it and see how the builder handled warranty issues and things of that nature. GC also is hard to track down. Did our blue tape walk thru and after that we never saw him again. We’re also new to buying a new build so I think that in itself is an entirely different buying experience than buying existing which we’ve always done.

@@cecaleebynum4769 the communication part from the builder is typically where the frustration begins and ends. It’s tough as there are so many links in the chain. I always hate the survey right at close personally.

What went wrong?

@@JeremyAKnight My comment would be too long if I listed everything but off the top of my head: Chimney was too short, causing smoke in the house, lawn wasn't graded right, gutters weren't installed right causing erosion of our soil right near the foundation, frame isn't properly sitting on the foundation, post tension cable sticking out of foundation & rusting, siding not installed properly, windows not sealed correctly, stone not installed correctly, when we first moved in, vent hood, disposable, & jetted tub didn't work, oh not to mention a toilet backed up into a tub our first week living here, & sometimes when I drain the tub after giving our toddler a bath, the water backs up into the toilet! The A/C in the attic had some sort of tear or hole that had to be fixed, ghost doors, plus back door never closed properly, took Coventry several tries to get that fixed right, irrigation hoses appearing at the top of our lawn, so definitely not buried deep enough. Signed contract in 2021, closed 2022, got inspection prior to the 1yr mark in 2023, & still fighting Coventry to fix things in 2024. Awful! Regret buying so much...

@@MissyMeyers there was a lawsuit and they are the Luxury side of a very uh… low quality builder.

@@JeremyAKnight Where would you suggest to look for a good quality, single story, 3000+ sf home on a larger lot in this area? Due to our daughter's disabilities, 2 story is not an option.
