Eh, it's a valid criticism. Obviously there are ways around the blocking but it slows the pace of the game down and just makes things less fun. Getting better at Yakuza 3 doesn't make the game more fun, it just makes it boring in a different way.
@@Rynjinivarthat's literally like saying that DMC is a bad game because it expects you to do different combos and use various weapons instead of just spamming 3-hit combo with starting sword.
@@persona3rulez the difference between DMC and Y3 is that the latter doesn't ask you to perform anything complex or interesting. There's little incentive to do much besides spam grabs and guard breakers. Combos in DMC are flashy and purpose-built, all made to counter different enemies and mostly done on the fly. Y3 doesn't have a wide enough suite of viable moves, or a wide enough roster of enemy types to reward skill. It instead rewards efficiency, which involves making simple, optimal moves that end combat as quickly as possible.
@@Rynjinivar the question is HOW you achieve these optimal moves. Weapons, heat actions, grabs, attacks from the back and e.t.c. It's a beat 'em up, a certified one, they all require you to use grabs, weapons, charge moves and yadda-yadda.
@@persona3rulez The issue, again, is that Y3 requires very little variation. Any one of those tactics can be spammed for the whole game, and any one is sufficient to beat the game, so there is no incentive to dig deeper. A LOT of beat 'em ups have this issue, it's pretty endemic to the genree.
@_alessz dunno about you but 0 just was objectively not as fluid compared to kiwami, maybe playable majima helps it out a bit but the heat system wasn't that good
As me who currently play Kiwami right after 0. Kinda agree woth combat. it's slow, every major fight ofter frustating. i only stay bcs of the story.. so far.
@@dummyfunny5098 there's way more to it then that There's a giant amount of different heat actions and also the ability to predict the enemies attacks you could just break enemy's guard and 90% of the time the enemy would try to attack you so you'd be able to tiger drop them at that exact moment And I'm sure many other expirienced players also have their own tactics in combat
Yakuza 3 and 5 next to eachother is insane. 5 had a great story, the world was expansive. IMO 4 should be low, the story was decent and then it just had every single character have some type of relation to the story/other characters. Literally every chapter was like TWIST THIS GUYS INVOLVED. It became so dry that I didn't even care about the ending when it happened.

@@gerbil8395 Yakuza 0's combat edges out Kiwami's with its smoother animations, diverse fighting styles, and overall more enjoyable gameplay experience. Tbh the bosses ain’t that hard to deal in kiwami 1, Yakuza 3 on the other hand….

Agreed tho I feel 0 is in the wrong tier to move it to A move Y6 up to A to kiwami 2 should be B I love kiwami 2 but move it down Y7 is A tier to LAD8 was waaays better dispite its kiryu ending
I was surprised that Yakuza 6 was highly rated overseas. I'm Japanese, and in our country's fan community, Yakuza 6 is considered the worst trash in the series.

Yeah, well One of the reasons may be that Japanese RGG fans have a lot of hatred towards Haruka. It might be more accurate to say that the dissatisfaction with Haruka in the series so far exploded all at once with her careless actions in Yakuza 6.

Absolutely agree. One person's favorite in the series is another persons least and vice versa. It can be a good thing in this case because that just means all of the games are good/enjoyable allowing everyone to just gravitate to the one that speaks to them more. Hence why I like 4 way more than 5. 5 just didn't click for me as much, but it doesn't mean I think its a bad game by ANY means.
It is fascinating to me how Yakuza tier lists are all over the place and so varied. Some people hate 4 and put 3 at B, 5 is often highly rated but not always like here. Mostly the only consistent ones are 0 and 7 almost always being top tier. I think it really shows how the series has a lot of different factors that appeal to people differently.
EXACTLY what I'm thinking! I love reading the comments and seeing people with different opinions and favorites. It just shows how great the series is as a whole. Now if only they were a little nicer about the differences though 😅

I'd say it's second best but otherwise yeah. Only thing wrong with 5 is the last hour or so of it. Have absolutely no idea how someone can like 4 but hate 5,they play identically and 5 has an overall better plot (again besides the ending).

Hot take: Yakuza 3 was better than 4 imo. The gameplay in 4 was definitely better but 4 was also the only game in the series where I could say that the story actually made me mad. I REALLY couldn’t stand 4’s story.
I’m actually near the end of yakuza like a dragon and I’m loving it. Over a 100+ hours just doing everything and it still hella fun. Tho I remember having a weak reception like people saying it meh when it came out but nice that other see it at the S-A tier
Bro I genuinely agree with nearly everything except for three, which I have a huge soft spot for, so id put it at B, even if it was my favorite game before infinite wealth
I don't know why Westerners like Yakuza 3 so much lol 😅 In Japan, Yakuza 3 has always been considered the worst of the Yakuza franchise. I've never met a single Japanese person who said they liked Yakuza 3, so this comments section is interesting for me 😮
I really don’t understand why everyone likes Kiwami 2, IMO it just kinda drags on, its combat feels half baked and the final boss made me wanna blow my brains out
I still dont get the preference of kiwami 2 over 6. The ragdoll physics in 6 are phenomenal and i feel the fighting itself is more fluid and cool unlike kiwami 2 which feels more rigid and stuck while still looking like dragon engine. Gaiden still has the best dragon engine beat em up style for me
LOL Kiryu moved slow as all hell in 6 even with upgrades and it took forever for attacks to deal decent damage without spamming heat actions. Kiwami 2 was more fast paced
