Sgt. Apone was a disappointing loss to the mission. I think he would have added a lot to the storyline and give the team more resolve and ''purpose''!

I always thought Ferro was badass and she immediately reached for her sidearm upon seeing the drone. Fighter till the end.

Frosty. He was cool and funny. The close encounters shotgun line is one of the best. Also Ferro, she was badass and as a kid I had a crush on her. 😋

The mission was doomed from the start. A single squad and a crewless automated ship? Also, the dropship should have stayed airborne in a holding pattern. Or at least kept the ramp closed. They knew the capabilities of the aliens.

I REALLY wanted to see more of Apone. And Hudson deserved better

Drake was such a badass! His quotes and the fact he could operate both a smartgun and a flamethrower was beast mode! Shame he couldn’t had survived to the 2nd shoot out.

Cameron made some great characters and I wish we could have seen more of them but perhaps one reason they were great was because of how little we saw.

Honestly wouldn't change a thing about the movie; so many cool and lovable characters that will never be forgotten, were done perfectly. All the following alien movies on the other hand...

I think Apone would've been an interesting one to keep around. I'm curious as to what tactics, if anything different, he would've implemented.

Vasquez, Apone. Vasquez is 'nails' as the phrase goes in Britain, and Apone is a model NCO, a born Sergeant. Their extended survival might have significantly changed the sequence of events, which could possibly have ruined the film, or just changed it significantly, but might have provided more options for survival of all remaining characters - and the possibility of establishing an anti-Company rebellion, among other things. I'd have found that interesting across the franchise.

Crowe hardly appeared at all - but Tip Tipping can seen in the Sylvester McCoy Doctor Who story Remembrance of the Daleks. Interestingly Rico Ross was also in a McCoy story called Greatest Show in the Galaxy.

I would have liked to have seen more of Frost. Their character development was perfectly executed so their loss is felt all the more.

Like you, I agree that Drake should have survived the raid of the Xenomorphs. Apone too. And I like your explanations with the Alien universe so much that I´ve already suscribed. Keep up for more man!

Definitely Drake and Apone. The military squad unit failed in their mission because they were fighting an enemy that they didn't understand. I always thought it was odd that Lt. Gorman didn't pick up on the dangers of sending the team into the cooling towers to find the colonists instead of sending drones with cameras to scope the area out before sending humans. Then again we wouldn't have gotten our Aliens movie.

Apone, Frost or Drake definitely would have helped the odds if they survived the initial encounter.. i wish the Aliens canon would finally make thr Earth War movie happen also!

I absolutely love Aliens, hands down one of the best films ever!!, if not they best, but you were calling apone a master sergeant but wasn't his chevrons indicating he was a gunnery sergeant maybe it was a mistake.

Me personally I would have liked to see Drake Frost Dietrich Ferro Vasquez Gorman And Apone Survived and helped out the group more before taking on an Xenomorph and making a selfless chose to take the xenomorph life with their own in a blast or explosive move that would have make the film more interesting to me but oh well we all want to see what we wish to see. Frost would have been cool to see last a bit longer. Maybe he tries to get Hudson to chill in the final fight and when Hudson gets pulled the last thing we see is Frost shooting, he runs out of ammo, and we see him square up to fight a Xeno as he tosses his rifle away as the rest of the team proceeds as in the film.

Biggest tactical error was not sending Bishop into the atmospheric processing station to live stream the goings on via facetime before the rest of the squad went in....what is this Space 1999? Yeah man...Bishop should go!

Vasquez was mine and my brothers favorite. I would have loved to see her and Apone survive or at least go down helping Ripley rescue Newt from the hive.

As much as I would have liked Apone to have lasted longer, him dying was a result of him being dedicated to the chain of command...as is seen in multiple scenes before hand. Keep that in mind with what others have said about making the team and the audience feel like they were totally screwed and you have legitimate reasons for his loss. I've served and I've met people like him. They have rank and they love their job, but the don't really know what they're doing when it comes to combat. My first 1SG (1st Sergeant - E-8 pay grade and the highest enlisted rank in a company) had been to many units, but had never deployed before. It takes 12-17 years to make 1SG and he was my 1SG in 2005...only 2 years after we invaded Iraq. That means he either ended up transferring whenever a unit had just come back from a deployment, or he purposefully avoided them before they went. I think the latter because he was a total douchebag who gave a buddy-buddy corporal a bronze star....after he had fallen asleep on radio guard at the company's CP during a firefight. I also had 4 former drill sergeants (minimum rank E-6, with eventual promotion to E-7) in my 1st company and none of them had any combat experience. Probably because a drill sergeant's tour is several years. Meaning none of them were in a deployable unit before we joined the 3ID (my first unit) in 2005. 1-2 of them were just like Apone. By the book, hard asses who were all about the Army and not about actually doing the job. they would punish soldiers for doing shit that was "technically" against the rules, but were team building "exercises"...like one platoon suddenly taking down another platoon for a light hearted GFT fight. GFT being Ground Fighting Tactics. Think beginner level UFC and that's what we were trained in for hand-to-hand combat. Anyone with combat experience in my first company was a sergeant (E-5) or below, which was weird because the Iraq war wasn't really new. And my infantry unit (A Company, 4th battalion, 64th Armored Regiment) was being built to specifically go to Iraq. So with all of that in mind, Apone acting the way he did isn't impossible or even out of the ordinary. Couple that with the actor having actually served in the USMC, he portrays a legitimate NCO that could be found in just about any unit in any branch of the military.

Poor leadership killed them, they should have withdrawn as soon as it was obvious they couldn't fire their weapons and Apone screwed up as well by following orders that put his team in so much jeopardy. Ripley, Drake and Vasquez saved them from that first encounter. Having the drop ship lurk around was rediculous as well. Just fail after fail led to disaster.

Ferro... i was very dissapointed when they first broke APC and then crashed Dropship by killing her... and i was watching version without sentry guns so it was just cruel.

Apart of me always wanted Hudson to. Survive. But then the great Bill Paxton would not be the first actor to be killed by all three. Terminator. Predator. And Alien. RIP.

Hey there alien theory, you should try and read a fanfic called: Siege of Hadley's Hope, it has been crossed with Mass effect, but it is pretty good, atleast I think so :-)

Personally I liked frost I think it would be interesting as the move progressed he would start to lose his famous cool during the stress of situation

I absolutely love the movie but I always wanted to see Drake and Frost make it past the first mission. Drake could have been in medlab recovering from his burns and either die before the final fight to incense Vasquez further or have an alien sneak in to grab him building paranoia about how they got around. Frost dying in such a lame way seemed like a waste with how solid his character was. He could have been another casualty of the operations center fight.

Maybe if Gorman told Ripley to stuff it, and not have the Marines disarm their pulse rifles. Sorry, but reactor or no reactor, I’m not leaving Marines in a nest of xenomorphs to defend themselves with flame throwers. Also, drop ship stays buttoned up until an extraction is called for, Spunkmeyer can pee in a cup. Of course, they don’t do these things, credits would have rolled within 5 minutes, as the Marines nuked the site from orbit, the only way to be sure.😎✌️

I always said that Drake should have survived the first encounter. But then the overwhelming arse kicking the marines get in the hive sets the tone of the movie perfectly. Totally on the back foot and looking to escape rather than fight.

T. Crowe was always the most mysterious, so I vote him. Wanted to see Spunkmeyer's death for decades.

I would have liked to have seen Hudson go a little further in the story. At first glance, he came off as a bit of a chickenshit that talked big. But when push came to shove, his bravery came through and he was very bit the warrior as the rest of the Marines. He did not turn tail like Burke, but rather fought hard until he was overrun. It would have been an interesting "growth" in his character's story. Yes, he was a smart ass and maybe even unreliable, but at the moment of truth he came through. Reminds me of the saying "Pressure can turn coal into diamonds."

I think if Drake had survived he would have assaulted Hudson for his complaining and would need to be restrained from killing Burke, once his treachery was uncovered. Frost would have been cool under pressure. If Apone had survived, I'm not sure he would have listened to Ripley's advice as much as Hicks did. However I think Apone did respect Ripley after she'd shown her abilities with the power loader.

Ideally? I would've loved to see Drake and Vasquez go down together in a blaze of glory in the comm center. Just the two mowing down as many bugs a humanly possible before being overwhelmed, buying time for the others to escape.

Was just watching an episode of Stranger Things when a team goes into the underground hive and the leader says, "stay frosty." I thought, cool nod to Aliens...and this isn't going to go well.

Honestly I think Dietrich would’ve been pretty useful since she was a medic.

Defiantly Drake, with him, Vasquez, Hudson and Hicks together during the shootout scene, they would have taken down scores of aliens.

I'm with you AT, Drake's toughness and go-get-it mentality when it came to blasting Xenomorphs would've made for an even more exciting Operations battle. I could even see him blasting a couple pulse rifles, or a flamethrower in one hand and pulse in the other, or simultaneously switching while everyone is moving to medical. I could also see him beating the shit out of Burke for what he did to Ripley and Newt while the others try to calm him down. Frost would've also made a cool addition too; he seemed to have the right sense of humor, and the one-liners in moments that the audience could relate to, like in Sub-Level 3. My one question though is what the hell really happened to Wierzbowski? His death has always intrigued me for years, because it was the most random, non-descript death in the whole movie. I hear he got burned in the pulse ammo flames, or that Xeno acid got him, or a Xeno captured him for cocooning... all theories, no proof. Did the novel explain more what happened to him?

Definitely Drake and Frost. The already existing interactions between Drake and Vasquez were amazing, and I would've loved to see more of that. And Frost was always super cool (no pun intended), funny, and fearless, perfect for this sort of mission, and seemed like the big brother of the group, looking after the rest of the grunts.

I still think it's cool one of the Marines has my actual last name "Wierzbowski". It's not a common last name either. I'd love to know how they came up with it.

It would have been nice to see Crowe or Wierzbowski survive long enough to have had lines in the film. Even if they may have been delivered with English accents.

The one thing I entirely dislike about the aliens universe is the minuscule amount of personel on star ships. Makes zero sense in any and all ways. You mean to tell me a starship made for war made for a military arm only has a crew of what 12? Maybe 20? Makes no sense in any real way what so ever. Send down the crew and leave the ship unattended? Smh. Makes zero sense.

I find it interesting that a LT wasn't followed by a First Sergeant. while Master Sgt. is still E8 there is no command role assigned to that rank. also, there were no other links in the chain of command in the squad until you hit a Corporal. is the USCM hard up for soldiers? or is the United Americas that rich that squads have their own FTL ships

I would have actually liked to see the fate of Dietrich rather than assume she was successfully used as a host. Seeing it would have boosted the "hopelessness" factor of the ordeal in my opinion.

Hicks is not dead. Like it or not, Aliens Colonial Marines is considered canon by Fox.

I heard in an interview with Rico Ross that he (Frost) got some lines from other characters because Cameron wanted to persuade him to be in the movie, as he had been offered a part in Full Metal Jacket at the same time. Maybe he got some lines that would''ve gone to Crowe or 'Baski, but since those two were both played by real life stuntmen, I don't think they were ever intended to do very much.

I definitely would have liked to have had more Sgt. Apone and Frost. I love Apone’s interaction with Hudson.

I was a FMF Navy hospital Corpsman 2002-2005. Never knew there was one in Aliens with Deitrich. How cool is that! For all you wondering, Navy Corpsman aka medics get attached/deployed with Marines. They are techniqually a department of the Navy thus why they dont have their own corpsman/medics. Its a great honor to serve with the Marines as a FMF corpsman. We get to wear their BDU's, and experience their service culture which is way different then the Navy's. We have to earn our place among them but once we do, they always have our backs.

If they were Marines, isn't Apone's rank Gunnery Sergeant? Having three chevrons and 2 rockers below.
