Hey guys,
I had to make this video because I feel as though many people could relate to what I went through on this particular day! This customer was particularly rude and I was appalled by how this lady felt as though she could treat me!

I've had customers throw temper tantrums because their coupons didn't get processed through the register. Yup there are 30, 40 50 year old grown ups who still behave like 2 year olds at a playground. Glad that customer got "fired" from the store. If I was the manager I would have told her that if she can't be respectful, then she ain't welcome here anymore. Should be like that everywhere.

I've had customers like this before, self entitled people going nuts over the most insignificant things, ridiculous. Don't feel bad though, just brush them off. This doesn't speak about you, it speaks about what a terrible person they are.

I know exactly how you feel. I work for Walgreen's in the US and in the part of town where my store is located, we get quite a few people who act like that AND WORSE. It makes it hard for me to say "Be Well" right after a customer yelled at me for something that I didn't do.

Retail is hard, it's worst when you work at a makeup store. I get the craziest women who are so disrespectful to me and my coworkers over little things! These customers also make up the biggest lies to try and get what they want. No one will understand the meaning of respect until they have worked in retail.

Advice I learned because my days from hell being a cashier/server....1.) Never apologize unless you have done something wrong instead apologize for the situation or what was wrong then proceed to correct it 2.) Remain calm and smile using manners 3.) Take up any physical activities and positive hobbies to cope with it....also I have a mantra when I start work "I will take no negativity from work with me today" and when I leave "I am sloughing off all negativity once I walk out this door" yep.

I would never have let it get that far, once she starts yelling and calling you things you should have just told her to leave, you legally have the right to refuse service to people like that if they are being verbally abusive.

To all the people who said I should have called my manager or sercurity should seriously get over themselves! When your in the situation its alot different! Right now I sit here and think "why didnt I call anyone?" and "Could I have done somthing different?" But the fact is I did what I felt comfortable with doing at the time, I could not just call somone knowing she was standing infront of me and if I did call anyone I dont no what she would have done then! As I said I was scared for my safety.

I love how customers are the same all over the world. Its mind boggling!! I've worked retail for so long, I started making films about it as therapy! hahah it really does help. oh well, I personally feel people who suffer through retail are better people for having done it.

I work for woolworths & I had a lady abuse me because I didn't pack her bags the way she wanted me to. Which is very hard to please everyone if they like things done differently it shouldn't be up to me to ask how they want things done. But this lady as soon as I got away from the check out, grabbed a 6 pack of yoghurt and pegged it as hard as she could at the back of my head. I was in so much shock I froze and I couldn't move, and I had yoghurt dripping all the way down my shirt. My manager told me to drive home for lunch and shower and then come back and it will be all sweet. That was the worst day of my life.

I feel your pain!!! Some people are just petty, and get satisfaction on making someone else's day terrible. I've worked as a bank teller, retail, and currently waiting tables and have encountered rudeness everywhere. Rude people know you are in a submissive position, and it's their sad attempt to establish power. It sucks, and you have every right to be upset by it. But in the end, you'll move on.....Miserable people will always be miserable.

It's disgusting how customers think they are better than the people who are selling them products. Their life must be that sour to try and bring other people down. I have dealt with those same type of people in both my jobs (retail and food service). Also amazed how many people try and get things for free or cheat the system to get what they want. That woman had no legal right to act the way she did to you. It's amazing how many people have never worked a service job and cannot understand.

Do you know what makes me laugh... the customers think we care, if you don't want to shop here anymore, GOOD. If you don't like the store we work in, GOOD. We are just trying to earn money, we don't have to put up with that kind of crap.

Oh my godddd she sound so awful! I completely sympathise with you, i work in mcdonalds and sometimes i just get INSANE customers that will not shut up!

Oh, I know exactly the kind of person you're talking about. I haven't worked in retail, but when I was working at a hotel, we would get some of the most entitled effin people staying with us. I had a guy chew me out on the phone for being charged for a pillow he stole from us. He admitted over the phone that he had taken the pillow too, but he thought we charged him too much for it (we have to get certain pillows required by our brand and with that price on top of shipping, it's more expensive than the average ones people get). I told him if he shipped it back to us, we could refund the money on his card, but he wasn't willing to do that. He refused to be transferred to management's voicemail and he said that he knew there was nothing I could do for him (aside from what was offered because he DID steal the pillow). Also he kept speaking over me and interrupting me so I couldn't say anything else. This whole thing took about 30 minutes until I finally had to say very loudly, "I'm sorry sir, but since I cannot help you further, I have to hang up." He was nowhere near the worst guy we got. Some people.

I've been in many similar situations like that more times that I can count. Two of these incidents resulted in me getting hit it the face by a customer. And the second where I had a hand up against my throat. I can handle myself when their rude to me, but to my colleagues, that's when the gloves come off!

I had similar situation, and it really pisses me off. We are all humans. Just because she is buying and I am selling it doesn't mean that she is any better than I am. Retail sometimes really pisses me off as well, so I am always in a search for a new job! Don't get sad darling, she is just a psycho and you did the right thing! I think you should have probably called in to security when she started yelling.

Rude customers probably are in no position of authority anywhere else, so they come into a retail store, because it's the one place where they can abuse people and get away with it. If I could choose one superpower for myself, it would be the ability to make people lose control of their bladders on the spot. Nothing like the ability to immediately humiliate rude customers.

I could not agree more with you Elle! I worked retail for 6 years while I was going to school and I had it all!!! It sucks that customers are "always" right but it is even worse when they take advantage of it! I always tell people that look down on retail work that they can't talk until they have done it themselves! Retail is not all rainbows and butterflies! It is hard work at times and requires a lot of patience and discipline! I agree with you 1,000% You did good Elle! Keep up the good work!

omg... that's nuts!! i would have called security, i work in retail, an adult store actually, we have the asme procedure for exchanges and we RARELY do returns cause of the nature of the products u know, sorry you had to deal with that ugh

Im from Australia too and i got this kind of treatment yesterday, some guy says to me "piss off i don't want to talk to you" for working, like wtf is wrong with these people, what kind of person are they, they were with their kids too, what kind of example is he trying to show to his like 5 year old son, makes me sick. We should all start a new trend if you ever see a rude cutomers and your not working there like you're a customer too you curse out for being a d1ck and a horrible person, i know i will.

I work in a pharmacy and in order to pick up a prescription we need the first name, last name, and birthday of the patient. I had a guy go off on me because he couldn't remember his wife's birthday (he had been married for 45 years).

retail clients always act like they were in such a rush when they want to run a scam. she just borrowed the watch for a bit and did not know how to act. she knew she was wrong for returning a watch that does not keep time....? come on really... that client sounds crazy. you were just following procedures.

I would have asked her to leave. You do have that right just so you know. I never knew that until i had a few rude customers. If she calls your manager you can just say that other customers felt uncomfortable and you felt for your safety. Sorry you had to deal with that though.

I work retail and I have never experienced a customer this bad. However, the second she insulted the other customer, I would have called my manager. Maybe not security, but definitely the manager. I would have been friendly about it. I would just say to her "Okay, I'm calling a manager right now to sort this out. In the meantime, please do not speak to the other customers in that tone. We believe in a thing called respect in our store." And I would have smiled evily.

I've had people call me stupid because they didn't get the coin change they wanted.FYI,we have a change machine that automatically distributes the coin change in which I have no control over.

9 out of 10, manager does not back their people up right in front of customers, sad but i understand. i feel like being in a service industry, there is no body to defend you, you can only hope for that customers could be nice. THOSE RUDE CUSTOMERS ARE LOSERS IN THEIR OWN FIELD SERIOUSLY.

I work at Subway and a customer has abused me for not having the sauce he wanted. it was in fact my boss' fault for this issue. We are here for YOU! We take our time to help you and we cop abuse from inconsiderate, moronic idiots while we just do our job . I hope you never experience that bitch ever again. :) on a good note, I love your videos. )

had someone similar yesterday, a guy was buying a small bag of dog food i was at the counter serving people and we was waiting at an empty till complaining he wasn't behind served. hello? wait in lin where someone is actually at a till and you will get served., he then complained that his bag a food he was buying wasnt on special but everything else was when in relativity all adult dog food was on special not puppy and he was buying puppy. he then abused me telling me hes never coming back cose we are shit i felt like saying what is the fucking point on specials if everything is on special all the time WHAT THE FUCK he then stormed out of the shop telling me he knows the supplier of the dog food and hes going to stop us from stocking it. really? urgh. PEOPLE!

Hi Ellie, sorry but that is soo funny, a bit disturbing I know but what a great story to laugh at in the future. Worked in retail and hospitality for many years and people's reactions and actions never fail to amuse. We certainly are a strange race at times!

Guessing by her New York Accent I'd say that she's from "England"? I worked in a Liquor Store for 9 years. In addition to dealing with people that make this girls customers look like angels I've also had my life threatened. When customers act like assholes the "Customer is always right" rule goes out the door and I get them In and Out procedure or no procedure There are people out there that want to make their bad day Your Worst Day. I don't deal with it..

OMG! I get that type of thing all of the time. I work at a shoe store in Bondi Junction, and there are just so many stuck up women who come in cranky about returns! It's unnecessary! I''m just really passive aggressive.

If the annoyed rude customer would have been helpful things could have been done much faster. When I want to return something and it doesn't have the tag, I'll look for the exact item in the store so the cashier/returns associate doesn't have to go to the trouble for looking for the item & so I don't hold the line. People just don't have respect towards others anymore because everyone is selfish. You were following procedures and if she has a problem, then take it to the company, not the worker.

since then have you just called security and let them observe returns like that? after a certain point you should be able to call your manager to refuse returns like those.

I work at a fuel station and a customer came up to my window and she was talking on the phone. I of course do my usual "Good morning how may I help you today" And then out of nowhere this chick put her hand out in my face and yelled and I mean yelled "Can you not see I am on the phone." Thankfully though I am allowed her to turn off the phone because of the risk of explosions with cellphones and gas. Not as bad as your experience but either way these people deserve a slap to the face.

I worked in fast food so I'm a pro with these customers. You can say, "I am not authorized to do a refund without all the necessary information so you will need to leave your name and number and my manager will contact you." Or you can do what I do which is not be phased by their attitude in the slightest bit which includes not rushing or anything. They want you to react and be nervous so if you don't get nervous they lose their power. Also add a "no swearing please" in a carefree way. gluck

I have the same sort of customers, and they're so rude and I feel like smacking them. Some of my (McDonald's customers) lie, yell, abuse and all of this nonsense just for a burger or a drink, like what the hell.

Wow ellie... I feel sorry for you. I work in retail too and some customers are pieces of shit. But as you were telling that story, I wanted to find that customer and bash her. God knows how angry you must have felt. Dnt let her get to you, she isnt angry at you she is angry at herself. xoxx

I get abused by people every week in retail but never had an experience that bad. :( People get mad for the stupidest reasons. They get mad at me if I ask them to repeat something because I could not understand them and they don't how to communicate anyway. Really? They get mad if they can't have a discount on something that is not even defective or damaged. It goes on and on.

You can ask the customer to please not use bad language, they may apologise or get worse at this point you call for the manager or security. You are there to serve not be abused verbally and if you let it go on too long - you may something your regret and they will use it against you and make you look bad with management. Nip it in the bud.

I had a customer scream at me cuz the line didn't make sense x.x I told.to her calm down and that just made her angry and she started callin me names. I just snapped :/

I do customer service for an electric company and sometimes when people don't pay their pay for a few months and get disconnected, they get pissed off and ask why and threaten with calling their lawyer because we turned off their power and there's kids in the home...i just wanna say bitch not my fault shouldve thought of that before grr

That sucks babe! I worked at best & MOLEST (lol) for a year and the exact same thing happened but my manager came and she gave her name and that's it. No signature? And my manager was such a smart ass to this bitch. Like whatever. Lol! They threw the items in my face haha! I cried later. It totally does ruin your day. I hate retail.

@jasonfreethrill It would have been intresting to see what you did in that situation. If you didnt hear I was scared because I didnt no what she was going to do! Calling security isnt that easy either. I would have to find the number and type it in the phone as we are not allowed to have it saved in the work phone. You werent there so dont tell me what I should have done.

I got crapped on social media from a customer who LOVED our work when we were finished even writing a super nice Yelp review. 90 days later the nasty woman came our roaring shit talk about my company so I found www.shittycustomers.com so I can post and seek out these horrible troublesome future customers. I have posted about 6 of my customers on there.

im on the custamers side. I get paid singificanly more then a cashier or server but i do 6x more work for 2x more cash so im not gonna be happy if i dont get exaclty what i paid for.

I would've laughed in her face at how immature, rude and cheap she was being I think if the customer saw that you weren't being bothered and in fact you actually found it amusing it would annoy and shame them, anyways I feel you pain. BTW are you Australian ?
