The one song in history that's 100 times better live, definitely watch a live one, from rio 2001 is a good one, even react to it if you can, you will enjoy it much much more
Probably 120 out of the 150 bands I've seen live, were better live. But I may be an emotional fan, how I feel in the moshpit is a huge part of how I rate a live band compared to their clean studio version. If I go home deaf for 3 days. They're good.
These dudes are minstrels of the modern age. They rarely sing about themselves, but tell stories that mean something to them to help you learn about who they are. I've been with them from their first album. Amazing is what they are.
Amen!! There are plenty of "Rock Gods" ... from Chuck Berry to Slash with new ones born every day. But Iron Maiden is a different breed of animal. Between their vocals, the Dueling Guitarist (is it really a "Lead" and "Rythm") ... touring with a 50 foot Robot ... (Eddie was bigger than the entire stage last time I saw him). The stories they tell, of Pashendaele. I want to be offended by "British Rock" telling the story of "Run to the Hills" .. .. .. but I can't. Iron Maiden is EXCELLENT!!
Live version from Rock in Rio is better. Two things to bear in mind with Maiden: 1- they have (depending on line up at the time) three guitarists, all of whom play lead, rhythm, and solo. 2- their songs aren't structured like pop or rock songs (intro, verse, chorus, repeat, outro). Instead, approach them more like a classical piece.
I love this song, i has been on the National stadium in Chile and this song live is amazing. I think that any Iron Maiden song live is absolutely amazing
I like your reactions because you seem to be one of the only genuine reactors here in youtube with no scripts, fake poses or screams for no reason. Keep on bro! Also I suggest that you try: "Hallowed be thy name" if possible with captions and a live performance. It is truly amazing.
I've been listening to Iron Maiden since 1982, at the age of 15. To give you a complete list of Iron Maiden recommendations, see my list below. Some of these you have already done. Iron Maiden is: Bruce Dickinson - Vocals Born: August 7, 1958 (age 63 years) Started with Iron Maiden in 1981, left in 1993 and rejoined in 1999 and present singer Steve Harris - Bassist and Founder Born: March 12, 1956 (age 66 years), Started the band in 1975 and has never left Dave Murray - Guitarist Born: December 23, 1956 (age 65 years), 1976-1977, 1978- present Adrian Smith - Guitarist Born: February 27, 1957 (age 65 years), 1980-1990, 1999-present Janick Gers - Guiarist Born: January 27, 1957 (age 65 years), 1990 - present Nicko McBrain - Drums Born: June 5, 1952 (age 69 years), 1982 - present Highlight of songs I'd recommend are: From Iron Maiden------ Phantom of the Opera - A must for live version Strange World (this one will be totally different Iron Maiden) From Killers ------ Murders in the Rue Morgue (Very loosely influenced by Edgar Allen Poe's short story, a story of a fugitive being sought for murder) Genghis Khan (an instrumental - perfect for air drumming) Innocent Exile (continues the theme of Murders in the Rue Morgue of an unjustly accused fugitive) Killers (A journey into the twisted mind of a deranged killer) Prodigal Son(about a repentant man reminiscent of the prodigal son parable found in Luke 15 of the bible) Purgatory(lyrics of song read like a poem) Drifter (focuses on the possibility of new beginnings) From The Number of the Beast------ Invaders (It graphically depicts the violence and horror of a defense against a Viking invasion) The Prisoner (based on the UK television series that ran briefly in the late 1960’s) 22 Acacia Avenue (The continuation of Charlotte the Harlot) The Number of the Beast (Inspired by a dream Bassist Steve Harris had after watching the movie the Omen2) Run to the Hills (about the European arrival in America told from the perspective of both the oppressed Cree and the invading Anglo-Saxon soldiers) Hallowed be Thy Name (about a man who is about to be put to death and what he goes through) From Piece of Mind------ Where Eagles Dare (based on an Alistair Maclean novel, (1967), and film (1968) about a WWII rescue of an American general from a Nazi stronghold in the Bavarian Alps Revelations (Starts with the Hymnal from Oh God of Earth and Alter, the next two verses on the Hindu philosophy, the third verse in Yoga a snake called Kundalini that lives at the base of your spinal cord, during meditation a spiritual entity is created symbolizing the transcendental union with God) Flight of Icarus (loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus) The Trooper (based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854,which took place during the Crimean War) To Tame a Land (the song relays the story of Paul Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib, from the book Dune by Frank Herbert) From Powerslave------ Aces High (about aircraft dog fighting between the British and German fighter pilots of WWII) 2 Minutes to Midnight - About the Doomsday clock for the End of the World Back in The Village (The continuation of the song The Prisoner) Powerslave (about an arrogant pharaoh in his dying hours, he can't understand why he's about to die and fights it in vain) Rime of the Ancient Mariner - (From the poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (story about about an ocean voyage) From Somewhere in Time------- Wasted Years (A song about the admonition to appreciate the present and not to take things for granted) The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (based on a short story of Alan Sillitoe which was made into a 1962 film Alexander the Great (About the story of Alexander the Great From 7th Son of a 7th Son (a concept album)------ Infinite Dreams (Detailing someone who is tormented by paranormal dreams and nightmares) The Evil That Men Do (Title taken from a quote in Shakespeare Julius Caesar but the song is unrelated) The Clairvoyant (relates the reflections of the 7th Son of the 7th Son on his life and his powers) From Fear of the Dark------ Wasting Love (About the emptiness of relationships without love. Another Maiden ballad) Fear of the Dark (About being afraid of the dark and the things in the dark that might be there - absolute a live performance for this one) From Brave New World------ The Wicker Man (about the apathy of our modern society and our egotistic disinterest of what is happening until something happens to us) Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death) Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley) Dream of Mirrors (Yet another song about reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams) Out of the Silent Planet (Supposedly inspired by the 1956 science -fiction film Forbidden Planet) From Dance of Death------ No More Lies (The lyrics deal with someone knows his time has come with the possibility of reincarnation) Dance of Death (Orinally inspired by Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film The Seventh Seal - Another one to do as a live performance) Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during WWI) From A Matter of Life and Death------ Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age) The Longest Day (about the WWII Normandy Invasion) Out of the Shadows (Questioning the meaning of life)
I know No Prayer For The Dying is not a fan favorite but Tailgunner and the title track are killer cuts. Also, from The X Factor Man on the Edge and Judgment of Heaven and from Virtual XI Futureal and The Clansman
@@johnnyc0882 Not a fan of Tailgunner the chorus is cheesy and too repetitive, title track is alrighty song. I basically skipped the Blaze albums, I couldn't get into his singing. My favorites, first 6 Maiden albums.
I have been alive one year longer than you have been an Iron Maiden fan (1981). ... I've been a fan since 1990 when my FAVORITE UNCLE showed me that "Music" wasn't just Elvis and Johnny Cash.
Music is the universal language. I'm a 59 year old white guy, and I know you and I would be friends. I have been listening to Iron Maiden longer than you have been alive, and this was one of my favorite reviews you have done. In the beginning, when you were talking about it being a "slow song" I was thinking, "He doesn't even know". Then, immediately the beat dropped, and the look on your face was priceless. You were spot on saying, "You were going to sit there and watch...you knew what was happening." My second favorite part was when you paused it at the beginning of the guitar solo, and I was saying, "Come on man, you NEVER pause during the guitar solo." Then, right on cue, you said the same thing. I thought, "Hey, he knows." I enjoy your reviews and love for music.
Their bass player writes most of the music and he has a strong presence when many bands hardly has audible bass. Iron maiden is a full band, each member has an important role :)
I will never get bored of seeing reactions to Iron Maiden more specifically Bruce's voice when he let's loose. This was definitely my favourite reaction video so far.
I introduced this to my kids when they were in grade school , my daughter thought he was saying fear of the duck . I went with it because I'm Rock Dad!!!
IRON MAIDEN is a classic heavy metal band. And Bruce Dickinson could really belt out the notes back in the day. I suggest watching the videos for THE TROOPER, Can I Play with Madness, and Wasted Years. I'm sure you'll like them too.
Yeah dude, you’re starting to get the power of iron maiden, the point of their songs is to make you feel better about everything you are hearing. And that’s exactly what maiden do at every concert they perform. They are powerful, and they have the ability to make you believe in rock music 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👏👏👏👏👏👏😄❤
Maiden has many songs that are amazing, and most of them are just telling stories. For example, Aces High is about the RAF fighting the Luftwaffen over the skies of the UK in WW2. The Trooper is about the Charge of the Light Brigage. Rime of the Ancient Mariner is literally just a retelling of the legendary poem of the same name. Run to the Hills is about the US genocide of the native americans. Holy Smoke is about televangelists. Number of the Beast is a story about a dude who went for a walk in the woods and stumbled upon demon worshippers and is pretty sure they actually summoned one as he ran for his life.
cmon Jojo, by now you should expect that if it seems like a heavy band but it starts out calm that it's gonna jump into some crazy shit soon enough lmao
Yes we were waiting for the guitar riff to kick in and see your reaction. You my lad are a Heavy Metal Rocker! Love your reactions and thank you for sharing.
My daughter is 4 and she LOVES rock music. She will fall asleep to slayer though.. lol. She loves all music but anything ‘older’ iron maiden is one of her favourites that she’ll ask Alexa to play for her. Usually she says ‘Alexa play heavy metal’. She’s the cutest little girl with huge blue eyes and ringlets, yet loves it! She’s also into motorsport so I take her to the formula one and Moto GP. I want her to enjoy everything, even if it’s for ‘boys’.. I love this song.
Singer, Bruce Dickenson, is the lead singer of Iron Maiden, a professional commercial jumbo jet pilot (who also flies the band around the world on tour), a professional fencer, an honorary Cambridge scholar of history, a published author, a two-time defeater of cancer, a brew-meister (they have their own line of beers & ales), and a hip replacement survivor. He really ain't afraid of nothin'. Oh, and they drink scotch - smooth & on the rocks. :-)
I saw them in 2015 right before they released Final Frontier. They played a 2.5-3 hour set. ... then a 10-15 minute encore ... then they played the Entire Final Frontier Album!! Iron Maiden is EXCELLENT
That's what I thought too until I started diving into this new wave of traditional heavy metal. Really loving Maule, Bastet, and especially Tailgunner right now. Tailgunner are going to be huge if anybody has any taste left these days!
Iron Maiden is one of the most criminally underrated bands of all time. I know that they are acknowledged as one of the greats but it really doesn't do them justice. Most of their songs are fucking master pieces. Fear of the Dark, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Flash of the Blade, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and Aces High are all masterpieces. And for any of you that haven't heard Rime of the Ancient Mariner, it may just be the greatest musical accomplishment of all time. To convert a poem not designed for that rhyme and meter into a full length metal epic song that is super faithful to the original wording is unrealistically hard. It's shocking how skilled these guys are.
When I was a kid I was hellishingngnng afraid of the dark, but when I heard this song then I was able to sleep quetly and smooth.. Thank you Iron Maiden!
It's fun to watch young people discover the music of my youth and love it just as much as I did. You can never recreate the way it felt to hear these songs for the every first time. Keep seeking, young Jedi! 👊
Yes….huge fan forever….they really are on another level. Nope they are all sober…and the shows are insane rock talent and theater…watch the stage shows. Absolutely on another level.
This is the group that put the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner to their music. These guys are crazy good and intelligent to boot. They've got some really creative lyrics and themes. There's a lot of thinking to be done with them. And they're a hell of a lot of fun to listen to. Plus you can actually understand them. :D
Listens to one of the main masterpieces of music of all times: "this isn't bad". Understatement of the century. Really though, it makes me genuinely happy to see someone his age be so into this. I hope people will never stop appreciating these things of beauty.
Back in 1986. I Was serving former Yugoslav Army. I run away on the concert. With a smile I finished in millitary jail for as 7 days because of that. Live they soud even 100 times better.
Bruce Dickinson, the singer also has a commercial pilots license and has been known to fly Iron Maidens personal 747 called Ed Force One, he has also been known to fly a fair few very lucky fans on it to airports near where they are having a concert.
Up the Irons! Maiden got FOUR great guitarists, three guys are playing 6-strings while one's playin' bass. Please, go checkin' out a live performance of that track. And listen to the crowd ...
we are meanies - that little evil streak waiting for the song to kick it up, especially after, bless your heart, saying this was a "slow" song - and you didn't disappoint with your reaction :) hahaha sorry but that was classic - Maiden are never slow, rarely quiet and will always knock your socks off
You seriously need to check out the live version of this one. You also need to check out the live version of Domination by Band-Maid. They’ll blow you away.
Im not going to look at all the comments here to see it was mentioned but you really should check out the classic old school Iron Maiden song “Run To The Hills” and also “Power Slave” !
I was sixteen when I saw them live doing the concert tour for this album, thirty years later and I'm still an avid Maiden fan, I doubt there will ever come a time when I'm not. Their beer "Trooper" tastes pretty good too.
Hell yes! You really do need to hear the version from A Real Live One, one of these live albums, recorded at a concert in Helsinki! Now go listen to Heaven Can Wait and The Trooper, and Run To The Hills, 7th Son of the 7th Son, so many more!
Greatest band of all time steve harris and bruce have created the beast of today and its a beauty which we should all stand back and listen too in awe 🙌🙌🙌🙌🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
