I grew up in the 80’s listening to “The Over Weight Lover” Heavy D. His rap style was always upbeat, which made you get up and jam. 💃. I miss him and those days… Side note, he played in the movie “Life”. Thanks Lamont, great job as usual.
RIP Dwight Arrington Myers (May 24, 1967 - November 8, 2011)(aged 44) better known as Heavy D you will truly be missed. RIP Troy Dixon (October 19, 1967 - July 15, 1990)(aged 22) better known as Trouble T Roy you will truly be missed.
Ferncliff has a lot of celebrities laid to rest in their mausoleum & also buried outside on their grounds. Aaliyah was laid to rest there. May they all RIP 🙏🕊
I remember Heavy D remade the song "Now That We Found Love" and that's about it. Oddly enough, Lamont was recently at the grave of William Powell of the O'Jays who was a member of the band the O'Jays that made the original song.
Thanks for covering Heavy D. He was a big part of my teen years. My sister and I were big fans of Trouble T Roy (dude could dance) and both deaths hurt.
Loved, loved Heavy D. He had his own unique style. I admired how he conducted himself -- and the diversity of his career choices. He had a lot to offer. Definitely a brilliant life cut way too short. May he rest in Peace and Praise.

Man I remember Heavy D. I totally forgot he passed. Being a first generation Serbian American and growing up on the South Side of Chicago, thats all we listened to and freestyle. This makes me sad. Enjoy life and be happy. Health is number one.
We grew up listening to Heavy D in the 80’s…. Saw him live in Detroit several times… great performer gone too soon. 🙏🏼🌺Thanks for another great video Lamont 🥰🥰
Thank you Lamont for doing this story on Heavy D. Also, I appreciate you mentioning the symptoms of a pulmonary embolism. I know how frightening a pulmonary embolism is because I get them chronically. Just recently I was diagnosed with three pulmonary embolisms in my lungs. I had shortness of breath and chest pain. Ended up in the hospital several days.
Brings back memories, junior high dances, skating rink on Sunday in the Summer. We stayed on the dance floor with the Overweight Lover and Is It Good to You 😊😊😊. He's definitely one of the greatest in my time.
Great great lyricist!! Made me like him even more as an artist because he was respectful to women in his rap music. Great actor as well. He's really missed. RIP
I Love Me Some "Heavy D." Still Listen To His Music To This Day. "Black Coffee No Sugar No Cream, That's The Kind Of Girl I Want Down On My Team." Rest In Peace To A Iconic Legend. 🕊🌈🕊❤❤❤
First thing I thought of was Biggie rapping about Heavy D up in the limousine. I'm a 90s kid Love Heavy D but that was the first thing that came to mind with biggie. Rest in peace Heavy D💜
Oh wow I grew up listening to Heavy love all his songs he was one of the best Rappers, his name was Heavy but when he danced he was light on his feet, RIP Heavy D 😇💕💕
OMG....I had no clue Heavy D had passed away. I had thought he was just no longer active in the music buisness but never knew was no longer in this world. Something new I learned today.
Thank you for covering this one Lamont. It doesn't seem that many years ago that I first saw him in the '80's. Time goes too quickly. Take care on the road.
I was such a HUGEE fan of Heavy D. From my generation dude was badd an so humble. He use to come to our city an hang out at the Lake when the Lake was jumping back in the day. Heavy D & The boys always did shows in our city too. Met him once he was a big teddy bear so sweet an humble. Dude could dance too!!! Rest easy❤❤❤
Heavy D lost a lot of weight. It's so sad that he had the blood clot travel to his lungs. RIP. I believe it was because he just came back from London. Sitting on an airplane that long.
It's been that long since his dancer passed from that accidental fall....about 30 or 31 years rest easy.....also Heavy, was one of the best mcs ever....rest easy Heavy D....it's been nearly 10 years.🙏😥
Very well said and done Lamont! Hev took the time to try to increase the peace in the rap streets by speaking out against gun violence. I live in Indiana and remember the night that Trouble T-Roy's life was taken by a freak accident. Thanks for sharing!
Heavy D most certainly made an impact during the Hip Hop error late 80' early 90's. I remember partying to his music a lot back in the day RIP big bro.
Lamont, thank you so much for showing where Heavy D is buried. Heavy D was one in a million. I saw him in New Haven, CT in the 1990's and Heavy D opened up for Salt and Pepper. He was singing and threw a pink flower to the audience and I caught that pink rose.He made me so happy that night!!! He was a sweet young man who will always be remembered in my heart. My favorite song was "Now That We Found Love" He had a style and grace that can't be duplicate.
Heavy D was the sole reason why I learned how to dance because it was cool to see a big man dance and was as cool as Heav was. RIP Heavy D you left way too soon like a lot of our icons but you will never be forgotten
I saw him perform at a concert. A true performer, dancing, rapping and no lipsycing or pantomime..I also liked him as an actor. This man had skills. Don't listen to the rappers of today.I liked the rappers of the past.
Great video!! Hopefully you get to do some more of these at Ferncliff I know so many famous people are buried there. Maybe Malik Sealy his story goes untold
Heavy D was/is one of my favorite rappers!!! One if the best! RIP Heavy!!!🕊 Lamont please do a video or series on Ferncliff Cemetary. So many awesome people are buried their❤
I always love Heavy D, MTV used to play him for long time, I still play it Now that we found love and find it very sexy, long life Heavy D you are a forever star
