As a college student I don't see how this is any faster or any different then throwing it all in a bowl and cooking it.

THIS VIDEO WAS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS: Regular methods require a microwave safe bowl and a measuring cuP. This does it all in one. It's the measuring cup, the cooking device and the bowl to eat it in. Sorry you guys didn't see it like I did. I'd rather wash one thing that two.

I have been using this thing for a while after I saw it on Shark Tank. It works better than crushing it up and putting it in a bowl or trying to get the right amount of water in a ceramic bowl that is big enough. As you microwave, the water bubbles and that is what cooks it more evenly than just throwing it in a bowl with water. The water can heat up faster since there is less of it, resulting in quicker cooking in the microwave. Most of the time noodles end of slimy because of the starches or kind of a mushy texture when cooked in round bowls or crumbled up. Also, since you are using less water, you should be using half a packet to reduce sodium intake. Each packed is around 35% of your daily sodium and if you eat two like I do sometimes, that would be 70%.... Less water means less powder needed and you still have the same flavor. Add Sriracha for a little kick. People bashing this thing need to actually pay the crazy steep 5 dollars it costs on Amazon and then come complain about it being just a bowl. I eat ramen quite often for a snack and this thing is amazing.

I hope that the college students out there (and people in general) are smart enough to realize that this is basically just a plastic bowl. Instead of spending $10 for a $3 set of plastic bowls just go buy the $3 set of plastic bowls and spend the other $7 on more Ramen.
@GGundamBlue

My daughter has been using a Rapid Ramen Cooker in her dorm room for a year now, and she found it to be a godsend for days when she didn't have time to go to the dining hall for a meal. The "bricks" of ramen noodles are much cheaper than the "ramen in a cup" bowls, too, which adds up to a lot of savings over a year's time. We got her Rapid Ramen Cooker from Amazon.com last summer, but now that Walmart carries it, too, it's a must-have perfect back-to-campus gift for any college student.

Cooking With Jack Show italian here and i dont bother with razors at all. i have been using electric shavers for the last 20 years and i always get a smooth shave. if your skin is sensitive then get "lectric shave" which is a pre-shave you rub on your face before shaving which is sold at rite aid cvs or walgreens. i dont even use that. i just run the shaver over my face and in 10 minutes im good to go.

A Fusion blade lasts me almost a month (5 times a week for 3-4 weeks) and then I still keep them around for other areas that need occasional attention like my hobbits feet or my back. I have a very heavy beard and often get mistaken for an Italian by Italians. Sometimes I even shave twice a day if I am going to a special function after work. Actually, I find a brand new blade tugs and pulls more than one that has been used a couple of times (Fusion anyway not the crappy ones).I just bought the new Fusion FlexBall handle and I like it even better now. Never tried the powered handled ones. Seems like a gimmick to me.

As someone who eats ramen A LOT (in fact I'm eating some right now), I don't really see anything special about this bowl at all. I would much prefer a regular, large microwave safe bowl with a handle and strainer lid. That way I can have more room to also boil some spaghetti. This just looks like a small, cheap plastic bowl with a line in it.

When I make ramen I do it in a measuring gravy shaker cup with water from my Keurig (I realize not many students probably have one) and then put the top on and leave the little pouring spout lid ajar to let it vent. Or if I can't find the lid I use tin foil. Works great!

I made the switch almost two years ago and it's honestly shocking how much better the shave is with traditional tools. A double edge safety razor puts cartridges to shame.
@cookingwithjackshow
@cookingwithjackshow 10 лет назад
Jim Dunbar really? double edge. Wow. Maybe I'll try that. Do you sharpen it yourself?
@j1mdunb4r
@j1mdunb4r 10 лет назад
Cooking With Jack Show Nope. You're thinking a straight razor. You can get 100 double-edge razor blades for on average $20 (some cheaper, some pricier). You buy the razor, which can range anywhere from $20-300 and you buy your blades separate. For the razor, I would suggest something like a Merkur 34C or Edwin Jagger DE89 for a beginner razor. Pick up a variety pack of blades because everyone likes something different depending on their beard, skin, and razor. Check out some videos on RU-vid from Nick Shaves, Mantic59, or Geofatboy. They've got all kinds invaluable tutorials and info on here about getting back to traditional shaving.

Jim Dunbar Cooking With Jack Show I'm quite sure Jack was being sarcastic. It's kinda harsh to come on his channel and promote another product cutting into his potential income. That would be like him showing up at your place of work and telling your boss that he'll do the job free. Bad taste Jim. :)
@ososuperpowers
@ososuperpowers 10 лет назад
Steve Valeriano Try it first and then you can give a fair rating. I suppose that's the only way to gain his trust. The other questions you would have to ask Jack. I can't answer for him. The bottom line is that is somewhat unscrupulous to advertise another product on someone else advert. or product sponsorship.

Shirley you gest IF I put boiling water in a big mug (which I already have, BTB), empty the flavor packet in the water and stir 'til dissolved, then introduce the dry Ramen (Ramen, meet hot water. Hot Water, meet Ramen), let it soak for five minutes, I have the same thing and did not have to fork out $10 plus shipping for a little plastic tray. Is this something a starving student needs put money out for? I think not. Think you missed on this one, Jack

This is great for college students because they can learn how marketing works. People seem to love one-food-specific gadgets because they're marketed as easier or more convenient, etc. It would be more useful to pick up a set of microwave-safe plastic bowls (even one would do fine) and a 2-cup measuring pitcher. You can just eyeball the amount of water, but measuring cups are handy if you ever make a real recipe!
@reluttr2
@reluttr2 6 лет назад
Just get the rapid mac cooker. The water level line is exactly the same as this one, the bowl is higher so no overflow during cooking, and you also get the ability to make mac and cheese. Not to mention, it makes a rad cereal bowl, so its basically a much more useful universal bowl replacement. Just remember that ramen cooks for 3 minutes instead of the 2:30 printed inside the bowl. The instructions in the bowl on the rapid-mac are of course for mac and cheese.

When I was in the Navy back in 1985, I used to buy Bowls of Ramen, and no microwave needed, just pour HOT water into the bowl, cover and let sit for 3 minutes, was perfect everytime.. these bowls were fairly large and very cheap too.. but this product is great, I have it and even though I am no longer a ramen fan, it does make it much easier

Or, you could simply put them in a soup bowl, pour in 1 1/2 cups of water and microwave for 3 minutes. Don't see the advantage. It's like a permanent version of what other ramen noodle makers have been making for years. You can even buy ramen noodle styrofoam lunch cups that have the fill line.
@chrismaster1
@chrismaster1 5 лет назад
I use this myself and it really does the job! The way I do it is I break up the noodles first and then pour the water in to the fill line and then when it's done cooking, pour some of the excess water out and then put the seasoning in. Great review though! Love the product reviews!

Cooking With Jack Show a little off topic from food, but, if you are really looking for a close cheap shave go an get yourself a straight razor that uses disposable blades, its less than $20 on amazon and a lot of them come with 100 blades, and replacement blades are like $17/240 half blades which works out to be around 7 cents/shave, its a little hard to beat those kind of prices and with you having a goatee you can completely avoid the troubled shaving spots

Not so sure about the claim on the package, how could this possibly reduce the sodium in ramen by 50%?
@afinendale
@afinendale 10 лет назад
Just googled it, according to the FAQ on their website: "The instruction on the stove call for 2 cups of water and the entire seasoning packet. The Rapid Ramen Cooker only requires 1 cup of water, which means you only need half the seasoning packet thus reducing the sodium by 50%." So, in other words, bullshit. But hey, if you're eating ramen it's either a snack sometimes, or you don't think you have a choice.
@MrSamoez28
@MrSamoez28 10 лет назад
It's just a bowl... Anyone who hasn't microwaved their ramen probably hasn't eaten much ramen. My method I microwave my bowl of water for 4-5 min then add the noodles and wait for al dente. IMO the noodles get over cooked when straight microwaved.

How can the Rapid Ramen Cooker reduce sodium by 50%? Most of the time the user just puts seasoning to taste. It's not like using the Rapid Ramen Cooker will somehow give the ramen more flavour and therefore less seasoning has to be used.

I'd save my money and just microwave it in a plastic bowl like I have done for years. Cool idea, but to save money use your own bowl and if you have to break it up. Good review though Jack. Take care :)

Cheese and rice man, you only put half the seasoning. The whole packet with such little water is like eating straight salt. The benefit of the rapid ramen cooker is you only need half the packet.

I don't usually do the whole sponsor coupon thing but you got lucky. I actually need razor blades and for 10 bucks who can go wrong. They have a guarantee so if I don't like it I can send it back.

YOU DONT PUT THE FLAVORING IN WITH THE HOT WATER. Because then most of the flavor goes away. Just a tip lol

Hold on, I wanna clarify something. I feel like this is for American college students (I'm not saying all Americans). Since my family is from Asia, I get to stay and live with my parents, so my family makes my food... I don't need to worry haha. ^_^

The noodles are much easier to eat if you break them up in the package before cooking.

mmm, this is somewhat implied about microwaved food. But there are something that needs to be boiled and not microwaved.
