@@rapidotrains So, given your reputation for the fine details, does this mean these will also include the ability to "dispense" their infamous "calling cards" on statues, sidewalks, building ledges and people's heads? 😁
Aw man, I was hoping for a “small town station” with DCC, Sound, and ditch lights, how unfortunate... But really, I’m hyped for the E8s, finally someone does them right!
@@rapidotrains indeed we do, I know it’s a long shot, but would NJDOT and NJT E8s be considered for a future run? They’d go great with the NJT comet cars!
Great release! Of course I'd personally be equally interested in any of the suggestions from Craig - the MP36, F125 (maybe for those upcoming Bi-levels? 😉) and yes, modern NYC subway equipment would be awesome...
I've got a few suggestions for my Canadian homies, for what it's worth. 1) A CN Turbo Train in the original CN white, red and black colour scheme. 2) A 'Dayliner' 2-unit RDC Budd car set in the original CP colour scheme. 3) A 5-car plus locomotive CN passenger train in the original all black, white striping with red logo circa 1970 (the one that ran from Toronto to London); and 4) The London and Port Stanley Railroad passenger service. Thank you for your dedicated commitment to model railroading and the preservation of real meaningful Canadian history.
Very exciting that Rapido will take on the E Unit - ICRR and SRR Crescent! I am looking forward to seeing the complete lighting effects - headlights, class lights, backup lights, ground lights, cab lights and more! ETA? Thank you!
This is fantastic news of intergalactic proportions! We can't wait to get a set of the UP Heritage E9's (if you make them) to run here at the museum! We can run the E8 too... but hint, hint... the 951/949/963B set would be amazing... ;)
Thanks for the Christmas morning laughs guys! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Also thank you so much for all the amazing things you guys do for the industry. I guess its a good thing my Proto 2000 kit bashes of the Conrail Executive fleet E8s are still unfinished... BECAUSE now I can justify buying a few of these! Please do Conrail 4020,4021,and 4022. Seriously please. Those of us at the Conrail Historical Society will be forever grateful.
That's a hell of an undertaking! Chicago & North Western used E8s in Chicago commuter service up until 1983(?), so you better not forget their long and worthy careers in the City trains and 400 services as well.
Excellent choice! Need to have NYC Cigar Band E8's geared for 90 MPH Flexi-Van Service! Oh, by the way, love the scissors lift raising up towards the overhead catenary at 4:26 ⚡
The catenary's "Juice" was shut off that day ... And there are plenty of folks there keeping an eye out to make sure the lift didn't touch it, even with the power off.
I can't imagine E9s won't be on the docket soon? I'd love to see some more Daylight power offered by you guys! Fun fact: The SP had a lone E8; 6018. Something to think about for the second run. (still crossing my fingers for T&NO PA-1s)
Yes, I should have an SP unit on pre-order. I don't know if there is a market for some '50's export locos, but GM made a beautiful turret cab-center cab diesel that I have a picture of and would buy it if it came out in plastic.
AeroTrain!!! There are only 3 units to make: power, coach and end. NYC, RI, UP, DEMO. A base config would have Powercar, 3 coaches and end car. Additional coaches could be added as wanted. It would be Perfect. Do it before ScaleTrains does it!
I hope you’re going to do the Union pacific E-9 the business locomotives the ABA set. 951 & 963B 949. That would be fantastic. The last company that did the excursion ABA. Was 2005 if I’m not mistaken. Could be wrong on the year. And and they did a terrible job. Another big popular E8 Was Chicago and Northwestern ( CNW )
If you guys make the Southern Railway E8s, I'm definitely getting road number 6901. That's the one we have in operating condition here at the Southeastern railroad museum. Oh and a few others to fill out the roster.
Many great ideas. Detailed HO scale vehicle models are hard to find especially in the modern era. Going with Busses, a Thomas C2 or FS65 would be nice, or the internationals. Plus some commercial trucks like the Freightliner M2s or Kenworths T800s would be great. Or just regular vehicles like Ford F150s would be great done right. In the meantime I cannot wait to get the Amtrak 4316 I just ordered and the F59PHs that I need to modify for NCDOT. Keep up the great work.
An E8/9 that's 100% matched, huh? I will be counting the rivets!!! Hahahahaaaaaaa!!!! No, not really. I can't see that small stuff anymore. But.... I will be looking for a future release of a Milwaukee Road E9. Seein' how you already are using Armour Yellow & Harbor Mist Grey. A-hem! Suppose, I might be talked into a model of the AMTK 4316 to keep me occupied in the meantime. :vD Keep up the great work with the models & great videos. Regards!
@@rapidotrains I hope it's not off the table for you guys. Considering you guys are manufacturing modern commuter stock (F59ph, Comet cars, and Bombardier Bilevels) it can't be too far fetched.
Interesting seeing the MAX SPEED 79 M.P.H stenciling on the dash board at 3:41. From my understanding, a good number of E8's were geared for 98mph operation and could actually hit 100mph plus.
I never knew that E-units made it up to Canada and even more surprised that they made it all the way to VIA. Where did CP/VIA use the E-units? I'd guess out east where there aren't that many grades?
CPR bought their 3 E8s for use on the Boston-Montreal passenger trains and they would generally stay in the east being based out of Montreal. In the VIA years they could be seen on the Canadian and elsewhere before being retired in 1982 and scrapped within a couple years.
MP36 next please? Nobody really makes those anymore. Schemes could be Metrolink Metra Virginia railway Go transit hopefully you guys can make it happen. i’d buy a metra one.
You got my attention with the first Amtrak-lettered loco. I've been toying with the idea of doing something with my late 1960s HO passenger equipment from Tyco and AHM that is a hodgepodge of different roads. So, naturally I had the idea of a first year Amtrak train, which can be just about any cars turned over to Amtrak when it started, get a PC black E8 and slap a Phase I decal on it and call it an early Amtrak train. Sort of "freestyle" model railroading, but something that has a basis in reality. Get a non-powered B unit to go with it, doesn't have to be re-lettered, it would be accurate for anytime in the first 18 months or so of Amtrak. Would probably need some extensive weathering for a realistic look.
