I love how the average person will react to his wordplay but don't understand exactly how deep it is. Then here we have Knox explaining in detail the message JCole is conveying through his rhymes not only the meaning of it, but also how he places the syllables whether it landed on each snare or kick. James Brown "The Funky Drummer " is probably the track you're thinking of. That drum break is pretty much the basis/ origin of boom- bap beats. The drummer's name is Clyde Stubblefield. There are around 20 James Brown songs that are famously sampled too.
