HE'S THAT IMPRESSIVE 🔥🔥🔥* To explain why RM made this song : So you probably know that RM and Suga received a lot of flak from the underground K-hip hop community when they signed with an Idol company. In addition to that people would try and shade his rap skills, saying he had no skills and no flow. So he made this song as 'joke' to show off his flow and speed and also shade back on the criticism by pointing out that you can rap as fast as you want but if you're just saying nonsense then what's the point? Hence there's no hook, just bars after bars and some nonsense words like 'bibbidy bobbidy In short, RM GENIUS SONGWRITER OF THE CENTURY. His rap is not only skillful but extremely intelligent. Makes me wish I knew Korean to fully understand all the wordplay and references.

농담 Joke by Rap Monster sampled Run the Jewels's "Oh My Darling (Don't Cry). He said he made this track to show off his various skills and that it doesn't mean anything....just a bunch of nonsense....even says so in the lyrics. Also, it could be taken that he made it as a joke or that even when he is just joking around he still makes other rappers look like a joke. Suga is the one you are thinking about being one of the fastest rappers. RM is more know for his ability to rap over extremely complex beats....ones you wouldn't think would lend themselves to rap. Both are completely INSANE lyracists. BTS rap line (RM, Suga, and JHope) all have amazing delivery, performance, flow and use multiple flows, rhyme schemes, about crazy word play with many doubles and triples. Unfortunately, for us non Korean speaking fans, we can't completely marvel at how amazingly talented they are due to the cultural and language barriers. Even with perfect translations, some things don't translate into English. However, Doolset lyrics do give context/explanations of lyrics but are a more literal translation of the words. RM, Suga and Hobi do write/produce and compose a lot of their music but Joke" contains the original beat of "Oh My Darling" as performed by Run the Jewels.... BTS also have some super talented in house producers making their Beats like P-Dogg and they collaborate with others as well

You can read doolset blog site which is the fandoms almost official translation site, its run by a korean army and she does the translations with cultural references so international armys can understand BTS songs. This song is filled with tons of wordplay

I've seen this video over a dozen times... What I really like about it is how the narrative tells this story about how he's the cop keeping his monster self locked up, but the joke is that even the cop is a bit a monster, so containing the worst of him still isnt going to save the haters.

I don't know about the others, but RM and Suga make the beats for their own songs and most of the other BTS rap heavy songs. Suga was originally hired as a producer. RM was recruited as a hard-core rapper.

This is a killer song. The flow, the beats, the way it shifts and moves so that you can never quite catch up. It leaves you breathless in shock, awe, and with a massive adrenaline rush. I love to move to it too. Lyrics are also killer, even if I can’t get all the Korean nuances, they are still insane. The MV is perfect for it. I listen to this one a lot. I’m glad you liked it!

Was so looking forward to you seeing this one. So freakin good. RM started out as an underground rappers and wow, did he and Suga get hate for becoming idols. This one rapper in an interview called the girls for being idols. He also trashed talked him saying wasn't good at fast flows and switching rhythm. I always thought of this video as "You are lucky I am locked up, because I am a rap monster, I am so dangerous, I would eat you all alive." Doolset lyrics has a great translation and breakdown of this song. RM also talks about the stream of consciousness. I think you would dig it. "I am elastin (protein that holds skin together) and your dandruff" what a line. 🤣 I also love the "Hit Me" at the end, as far as I know, no one ever has. LOVE IT!!!!! 😘💜

The mv is literally another double meaning! Complete genius! So RM(Rap Monster) is locked away in a Psychiatric ward, ( his being an Idol) which is basically what the underground rap fans/artists in Southern Korea thinks. They said/dissed RM about not having talent or saying that he sold out, and even turned his back on rap/hip hop. So they said he isn't a real rapper and is basically a doll to the idol world. With all these insults RM made this song saying the real joke is them not him. And the big metaphor of the mv is that they released the true Rap Monster from his so called cage! This is him calling out anyone who thinks they have skills or talent to do a diss track (the hit me at end) if they are up fro the challenge. No one has ever stepped up to the plate. Not after this song was released. Please stopped dissing RM and Suga.

English Lyrics are available with the video. This is not the best lyric translation. Suga and RM were part of the underground Rap scene from 13 years old. They considered these rappers their friends, but they all all turned on them when they joined BTS. Even stabbing them in the back on an interview saying they weren't rappers now they wore make up like girls.
