MIDDLE FINGERS IN THE AIR, MAGGOTS. dude you nailed it on this one. CT is a huge cinephile and the band uses effects to instill a sense of crisis/danger. CT's vocals on the first album were super raw and Ross Robinson included a lot of his breathing/spitting/crying/etc to add to the art. this song is commonly referred to as the "New National fucking Anthem" by maggots. if you liked this, go catch them performing it live on the "Disasterpieces" show, London 2002. 🤘🏻
I got suspended from school when I was 13 for having a patch sewn onto my school bag with the chorus lyrics to this song written on it. 'Fuck it all, fuck this world, fuck everything that you stand for, don't belong, don't exist, don't give a shit, don't ever judge me' at the time I was super mad and thought I should've been able to have whatever I want on my bag, but looking back as a 30 year old now it just makes me laugh, I was a bit of a bellend haha.
Right? I had the lyrics to this written all over everything. School textbooks, binders, my table in my room, random public walls and the city bus with a sharpie because I was edgy like that. Back when I was a goth teenager in 2003-2006ish. The good ol' days lol
One of my favorite things about the live performance is right before the starting breakdown, they stop playing and Corey tells to crowd to all raise their middle fingers, he screams the F you all and they go into the breakdown. They did this at an outdoor venue in Aug 2019 in KC and I'd never seen so many Maggots raise their fingers, never seen that place so packed for Slipknot either
Iowa. This is the song you need to hear before closing the self-tilted and Iowa. Even if you don't want to listen every song from the first two albums, this is (just my opinion) the darkest song in their entire discography. It is above Eyeless, Scissors, Disasterpiece (Corey's favorite song out of Iowa), and everything with the Slipknot- heavy style. Iowa is not a song, but a mental breakdown.
Another awesome reaction, badass song, yes that is Mick doing that with his guitar, I do love this song! Its a killer song. Keep the polls it makes it awesome to vote!
This song and wait and bleed were the first two songs I ever heard by slipknot all the way back in late 1999. I was fourteen and rebellious and I fucking LOVED this song! It was basically my anthem for those days! Can’t believe it’s been 21 years! This song still fucking slaps tho! 🤘
This is the song that defined me in high schhol. By the time i graduated and left to join the Marine Corps, I'd experienced more of life than most people twice my age. Imagine being 17 and jaded and bitter already
You got my top three Slipknot songs (Gently, Disasterpiece, Surfacing) on the last video, so allow me to extend the list with three more: 4) People = Shit 5) Metabolic 6) Purity Pretty straightforward, aggressive song with creative (Slipknot esque) instrumentation. It's fantastic! Beyond 'Purity' the list is quite vague. There's a lot of songs that sit in the same area. You may also have noticed that most songs stem from the earlier albums, IOWA in particular.
This was THE teenage anthem for alternative kids (like myself) in the late 90s - early 00s!! Basically how me and all my friends were feeling at that time and still sometimes I feel in current times as well!😆🤘
Alternative kids weren't fuken listening to Slipknot lmao. They were listening to alternative music obviously. The slipknot fans in my school were the metal heads and goth kids.
I love when Mic(7) talks about this song, that part you’re talking about, he said he turns on all his guitar pedals to make it sound like shit then plays that part🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
And fyi. The guitar mix goes like this, they have two, one is only heard through the right speaker and the other the left only. Micks parts are mixed into the right and jims part to the left
Its effects guys... and theory. He's doubling up on a 1 and 6 half step pair and pitch shifting one pair up 1 octave and the other pair 2 octaves. But you know, don't listen to the artist himself (I could be wrong about the pairs, just sounds like he's doubling down on a double hell+double ambulance interval mixture): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jwgac4siEbI.html p.s. "JAZZ" (Arabic) modes. I learned PhyDom and cycled that bad boy like I did the minor mode and BOOM! Metal AF. I'm starting to freeplay Slipknot style riffs.
The first time I ever heard Slipknot was when I was like 7 years old and it was Psychosocial. I really liked it back then surpsingly but the funny part is where I heard it X) Jus search up Plants vs Zombies Ownage haha ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aER6bQKz4gY.html
My live streams stay on private when they're done. I couldn't make it public though even if I wanted to. It got blocked by like 5 different copyright claims lol.
