Fun fact for the lads that keep talking about "the guys in Gorillaz": It's just Damon Albarn from Blur with guest vocalists. The second person behind Gorillaz is a graphical artist and director. More of their timeless classics: 19-2000 DARE Stylo No particular order, they're all good!

BTW: Gorillaz Lore Factoid the explanation for all the different rappers is they are all the spirits of Russell's friends who possessed him when he witnessed them get killed in a drive by. When ever he lays down a sick enough beat the Ghosts come out and flow.

There is a sister song to this called El Mañana. The official video has been taken down for some time though you might still find it on another person's channel. Damon Albarn was the lead singer to Blur (does a lot of the music alongside a large amount of other creators) and his cocreator (does the artwork) is Jamie Hewlett. Recently credit has also been given to Remi Kabaka Jr. (voices Russel the drummer) as he became a bigger influence on the project when the album Humanz was created. There is an entire lore around these characters and if interested whether on the channel or in your own time Found Flix has done a deep dive into the lore.

Gorillaz started out as Damon Albarn from Blur, Jamie Hewlett is the artist who created the characters (also co-creator of Tank Girl), Dan the Automator as the producer, and Del rapping. Demon Days was produced by Danger Mouse and had different guest rappers. So really the main people of the "band" are Damon and Jamie. Since then Damon has done all or half of the producing from album to album. Jamie has been continuing the lore of Gorillaz and aging them from album to album.

Del and Dan were working on Deltron 3030 at the time (something that needs to be reacted to on this channel!) while Dan was also working on Gorillaz. Del had been interested in the concept and the artwork since he was a big fan of Hewlett's work, but was busy with 3030 and less interested in the reality of the Gorillaz project at the time he was supposed to be doing stuff with them. Del recorded some lines for a few different songs and didnt even know "Clint Eastwood" was a big single until his phone was blowing up about it. Gorillaz moved in a different direction after the first album, including shutting down the original garage website. This song had members of De La Soul. In a way, its kind of like Ozomatli that had Chali2NA for its first album and then moved to multiple guest lyricists after that. IMO the best Gorillaz remix album was Spacemonkeys vs Gorillaz 'Laika Come Home' for some really deep dub remixing.

This song is from their second album Demon Dayz. Their music videos tell the story of Gorillaz especially from the first to third album. The El Manana video directly follows this.

Technically Blur and Oasis came from the 3rd wave of British Invasion . First of course was in the 60s with the Beatles, Stones, Who, The Kinks,and the Animals. The second one came out in the early 80s around the time MTV was coming out. Think like Culture Club, Duran Duran, Eurythmics and Wham, more along the line of new wave. 3rd wave would be more alternative rock based like Blur, Oasis and Radiohead.

The only two songs that i'm aware of that "Del tha Funky Homosapian" rapped on were in the original album, Clint Eastwood & Rock Da House respectively. Otherwise it's generally a different collaborator each track.

Everyone is saying "DARE" which is from the second album this song was on, and it's great! But I'd recommend "Dirty Hairy" from the Demon Dayz album or "Rock the House" which has the same rapper from "Clint Eastwood."

This whole album is 🔥 for real. 2 chill songs, and 2 of my favs are Kids With Guns, and El Manana. Imo, the best rappin is on Dirty Harry. What he raps about is some truth, if you know what he's rappin bout. And of course Dare is fire as well.

Not all Gorillaz song have rappers featured, but from the same album "Dirty Harry", "November Has Come" or "All Alone" all have a rapper featured and are worth checking out. All Alone would probably be the most challenging to identify the rapper.

Saturnz Barz, Stylo, Dare, Hollywood, 19-2000 there are a bunch of great songs from the Gorillaz. I would classify their first few albums as alternative Soul, to the later ones becoming alternative jazz

The Gorillaz only ever had two actual members, Daman Albarn, the musician, who was the singer from Blur, and the artist who made the characters, and also made Tank Girl. Anybody else is a session musician, touring musician, or guest. Most Gorillaz songs don't have a rapper, or any rapping at all. Clint Eastwood had Del tha Funkee Homosapian, who just came in and did over some mediocre rapping they had at the time for the song. This song was featuring De La Soul. Also, most times Kiss had somebody leave and got somebody new, they would actually have their own makeup design and style.

Shoeshine would be great as a next one. They are still active and during initial Covid shutdown, the lead singer did a special video on Instagram showing him singing live from his apt and like zoom meeting linked with 2D (I believe). The song was called Aries. It was fantastic 😍. So, yes, still going strong. So glad you are reacting to them.

"3-D" "Is that Noodle" why is 2D so forgettable 😭🤚 (joking, of course) And the whole point is that the "official" members are the cartoon characters- they have so much lore behind them it's insane. I suggest Pac-Man, Valley of the Pagans, DARE, Rock The House, and Superfast Jellyfish :)

If I could make some requests for Gorillaz: - From this same album I'd choose Dirty Harry and a song called November has Come that features none other than MF Doom - From the album Plastic Beach I would recommend on Melancholy Hill and Superfast Jellyfish - And from Song Machine, I'd do with Valley of the Pagans and Pac-Man All insanely good songs for different reasons

Check the music videos for both “Saturnz Barz” and “Tranz” by the Gorillaz. You’ll see Ace from Powerpuff Girls temporarily replace Murdoc on Bass on the Tranz music video and basically for the entire album that Tranz is on because Murdoc gets arrested before that album’s release but then returns in the following album, I look forward to seeing your reactions to these songs!

i am tryna figure out how to be more involved, as in patreon and all. im new to all this. i like the trivia n such u goes put out there. i only see maybe a few reaction pages that are actually genuine anymore. seeing the emotions from hearing songs n for the first time brings back so many great memories and feelings. makes us old folk appreciate the fact that there is so many people out there that have never discovered these greats. i'd love to see someone get into the INDUSTRIAL METAL. it is all about the message. MINISTRY IS THE GODFATHER OF ALL THIS ministry SO WHAT is a great start. NIN was formed from this band. trent reznor was a roadie for them for a year. watched and learned, and after many firecrackers was thrown at Trent, he formed NIN.

Damon Albarn of Blur is the only permanent musical member of the group. Jamie Hewlett does the animation. Think of Gorillaz as kind of a rotating musical collective of whoever Albarn wants to work with. When they tour they show large screen animated projections with the band playing in shadow underneath. Some of the guest musicians and rappers go with them depending on who is available. There really isn’t say a band member behind each character.

If you want the best hip hop album you e never heard of check out Galactic - From the Corner to the Block. It's a funk band that got a different rapper for each song. Including some legends. Gift of Gab, Lateef the Truth Speaker, etc. Every song is a damn banger. Start with The Corner featuring Gift of Gab. Amazing flow in the middle.

I'm here for my daily request of Dog Fashion Disco. Still waiting to see my favorite reactors react to my favorite band. I can't wait to see you're face when you see the genres this band is able to blend with metal. As I said before I am disabled and can't pay to play but I hope you see I'm a huge fan and hopefully I'm paying with love and Fandom. Give an underdog band a chance my guys. Please. Once again I will leave the newest single in a link below. I'mma keep trying. I hope this is coming off more charming than annoying. I know the way to go on these channels is to do what's popular. I'm just asking you to step outside the box and give a reaction for a band who has been rocking shit for 20 years. You're reaction could actually help this band. @@metalguru85 I do believe they are dropping a new single and video today as well at some point. I'm highly looking forward to it but you should go on youtube and check out Grand Experiment as well. I really hope these fellas really do a reaction for me. It'd be really fantastic and I feel it'll be nothing like anything they have ever heard when it comes to the genre of "avant-garde" metal.

They should check out Polkadot, El-Creepo, and Knives Out...all are fronted by Todd Smith who I think has amazing range and reminds me a bit of Mike Patton. Of course Todd doesn't have that much range but I can most certainly hear his influence in his voice and in the band itself. They are just a severely underrated band. Was Adultery the last album you heard by DFD?

To me, this song looks to be more about synthetic, fake "happiness" you get from pills (anti-depressants, benzos, etc.), hence the "inc" part. If you watch the characters in the video, they're all so out of it and in a daze, just floating in the clouds as they ramble on. Rather than portraying actual happiness, it's more just a lack of pain than anything else - a numbness. The dead bodies and skull symbolism on the drums, etc. could represent the idea of feeling "dead inside," and the upbeat nature of the song illustrates the giddy attempt to keep going and almost forcibly laugh it all off (cue the maniacal, continuous laughter that sounds almost crazed). Could be wrong, but that's just one man's interpretation. To me, it has a definite air of desperation, at least the video does. Still LOVE the song, though, and always have.
