YES!!!!! One of their hardest songs!!! Keep going, this album actually is to prove the haters are wrong, they were crictized like "Slipknot can't make good songs" "Slipknot songs are just a mess" so this album is really focus on amazing instrumentals and lyircs, btw I miss your SOAD reactions, here my suggestion: MIND (This song doesnt have muisc video)
That and the criticism that they can't make a song, let alone an album, without swearing. So corey didn't swear on this album just to shove it in their face.
It’s by far my FAVORITE album from them, I bought it on release day from a place in Boston where I grew up called Newbury Comics (idk if they still exist or not). It’s hard to believe it’s been 18 YEARS since the release!! I ear bled this album along with Lamb Of God Ashes Of The Wake my entire senior year of high school including graduation day in June of ‘05!! This is my favorite song from the album HANDS DOWN!!!
Since you have talked about what Genre they played in this Song this is basically the Reason why Corey said in an Interview they don't just play this Genre or that Genre they just play f*ing Metal 😁😎
I personally feel there are way to many subgenres, it honestly not that important good music is good music there is nothing else to it. Again my opinion.
It comes from Vol.3, which was a turning point album for them, between the raw and older Slipknot and the more highly produced albums with more singing. I think Vol.3 is my favourite but Iowa is so fucking good too, it is truly hard to pick a favourite. I however played this album in my truck for 9 months straight after it came out, so I think my brain prefers it overall.
I saw UK Slipknot tribute band 'KnotSlip' a few years ago and when they played this song the audience got a surprise because 'Chris' and 'Shawn' appeared in the crowd from behind and walked through from the back to the stage with the marching snares on and playing them when that section came up. That was actually a really cool touch that the real band would never even get to do.
Slipknot was my gateway to Death Metal. Joey brought blast beats from the Black and Death metal genres into mainstream. Even their riffs have a little Death Metal and Grindcore influence.
This was from their vol.3 album in 2004. Always a great song to listen to. Especially since every time I hear it, all I think of is how chris and clown bring out snare drums strapped to their chests during the drum line section live. And with that, I just think of download 2009 when they played this song and chris having the snare break off the harness before he stared at it like a kid dropping an ice cream cone. Classic. And like I said on one of the last SK reactions (which was from the self titled), corey sounds so different when he screams in this song and on this album as opposed to iowa and before because he broke his voice inbetween iowa and this album then had to relearn what to do and how to do it when it came to vocals.
Yes 3rd album had that mix of genre and the masks are on point. clown is a percussionist btw same as Chris and now tortilla. Clown is also the artistic force driving there image
Slipknot is my absolute favorite and has been since they came out. Sure something can be said about Stone Sour (Corey Taylors Band) or Murderdolls but when these guys all get together its magic. Zak Wylde referred to their concerts and shows as "The Soundtrack to the insane asylum" attack every sense you have. Great pick
This was a hell album to create. So many experimental songs with instruments. Plus during this period Corey blew out his voice. As a result you can hear his voice become weird during many parts of the album.
I remember the first time I listened to Vol.3 back in '04. I sat on my bed, headphones on and cd insert in hand so i could learn the lyrics..... I never read a word and gave myself whiplash!! PLEASE react to Purity sometime soon, not gory but its content is quite horrific...😈 Until next time, stay (sic) 🤘🏻
Third album "subliminal verses", probably my favorite mask of Corey's too. Be said it before, get a hold of Disasterpieces (DVD but you can get it on RU-vid) and react to the whole thing. It's after the second album, amazing live show.
This track is amazing live! I remember seeing them live when they promoted Vol. 3, and when Joey started the song, the entire arena shook, and it was the best sensation ever! You talked a bit about horrorcore - check out Epic Rap Battles of History - Jack the Ripper vs. Hannibal Lecter.
The blister exists is the first metal song of my life I’ve listened to, a few months after the album was released and I instantly became a metalhead. Still remember this moment like it was yesterday, the incredible sensations, the chills I had. The way the voices back each other, the insane drumming, the riffs…
Hey guys! Love the channel and NEVER miss any episodes. Anyway PLEASE check out and react to "Gematria" from "The Gray Chapter". This song is REALLY HEAVY and munching!! You'll love it!
I'm no fanboy of them but their quality of music, regardless of taste, needs much more respect. Everything from writing, performance, engineering etc is close to flawless. Taste is the main separator in audience, especially with vocals but you just can't deny them. They're so good and singular
This is the video that got me into slipknot. I remember seeing this at my cousins place when I was in middle school. I'm 30 now but still a maggot at heart
theres definitely gorey subgenres of metal. goregrind, pornogrind, most slam and deathcore, etc. and old school death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse in general will typically just write lyrics about carnage.
Me recommending a specific Slipknot song is insane, imo just listen to literally all of it, it's all Slipknot to me However....... I feel a random urge to suggest "Three Nil" and "I Am Hated" Three Nil is just epic af And I Am Hated is my fav song of all time, period. My fav song is on my fav album which is by my fav band. When I first heard the album Iowa, that song came on and no joke, no exaggeration, I put it on repeat before it was over and listened to it, again no joke, 76 times before I finished the album. And I wasn't even tired of listening to the song, I just figured it was so amazing I needed to finish the album to see what else they had in store for me. Like, no way it's just this one song. There has to be more. Much as I want to keep listening to it, I might as well finish the album and then come back to it later if I want. I'm pretty sure I'm in a bit of a minority having that song as my fav, but there it is. Over a decade now, fav song. 76 times in a row when I first heard it. To be fair, I was playing a video game in the background, but to continue to be fair, it was just some Zelda game or other; doesn't exactly require full attention and laser focus. No, I listened to that song 76 times in a row But again, just anything by Slipknot and I'm there. Literally doesn't matter to me at all. Slipknot is Slipknot, start to finish
Don't know about. "Horror gore metal". It kinda fits in more with "Shock Rock" even though it's metal. I don't know if he was the first but Alice Copper kinda started it, or at least was at the beginning of shock rock. David Bowie, KISS, and many more over the years kept it alive. Maryln Manson also would be considered Shock Rock. Keep it real and go with the feel. You guys rock.
Not sure if anyone has said it yet, but fun little factoid - Joey actually did drums for a few songs off of Otep's album "House Of Secrets." There is a song called Nein where it is so distinctly him that I said, "That sounds like Joey" before I even knew it was. That may be a fun one to react to at some point, actually!
Oh I did not watch you in a while but I never forgot about you. Now I come back and the first reaction I see, is "THE BLISTER EXISTS" Awesome. That was another one of awesome reactions. I don't know what you think about "Tom MacDonald" but you should do a lot of his songs because this is maybe one of the most controversal rappers of our time :D He is pissing everyone off and makes fun of them with facts. Great songs from him, that you should react to, are "Snowflakes", "No lives matter", "Dummies", "Brainwashed", "People so stupid", "Clown World" "Don't look down", or "Fake Woke" It's insane but soo true
And if y’all want to see the legitimate F*cord up side of slipknot react to the song scissors from their first song it’s like 8 mins of disturbing heavy ness and the 15 minute song called Iowa on the Iowa album Corey wanted to cut himself with the thick studio room glass he head butted broke. Slitting his arms and wrist so you can hear in the song Corey screaming in genuine pain for the most emotion he was at a stage in his life where he couldn’t not drink two bottles of jack a day and he was completely naked in the studio
Amazing reaction as always from you both i Love your Slipknot reactions, much love from us in the UK! I think you guys should check out Harry Shotta - Animal Harry is a UK drum and bass rapper and the man has amazing bars i think you would both enjoy his talent. :)
Can you feel this? ( Imagined being someone who's deaf, but still feel through the vibrations of the headphones, knocking when the drums actually hit due too the differences of the multiple rythmes and the beats on different segment of the show. That would be dope. Also slipknot is awesome through any Skullcandy headphone. )
Slipknot album releases: 1997: Mate feed kill repeat (its not an official studio album, and it's pre-corey taylor) 1999: Self-titled (the debut album) 2001: Iowa 2004: Vol.3 the subliminal verses 2008: All hope is gone 2014: .5 The gray chapter 2018: All out life (single) 2019: We are not your kind
Apparently there were clown called Pogo the Clown and Psycho Clown. 🤷🏻♂️ lol, I like that y’all do this wrestling trivia thing, even though I stopped watching wrestling over 2 decades ago, which I would consider everything in the 80’s & 90’s as their best era for wrestling imho, I stopped watching them a few years after The Rock was introduced. Idk when John Cena came out, but it was before he was introduced. Man, I loved wrestling and one of my favorite video games of all time was WCW vs. NWO on N64. Fantastic game where you could have 4 people play at once and it was ahead of it’s time, like a lot of video games from back then. I just turned 40 this year so take that however you want to lol. Anyways I really like the channel, keep up the great content. 👍🏼🤘🏼
Next week do two shorter ones! You gotta do Get This. It’s in your face for a solid 2 min. Then off the newest, spiders is very different, but super cool. Honestly anything you pick will be great. Another is the Burden, If Rain is What You Want. Did you do Sic yet??
Ok wait, I watched Sic 🤦🏼♀️ You want to see bars, watch Spit it Out, but to get a clearer view of his speed with clarity do studio version first, then you HAVE to do live. They do something special with that song that’s fucking AMAZING especially when you’re there. Was just there on the 9th for a show and it never gets old.
R.I.P. Joey. You will be missed. One of the best in the world and in history. Btw guys. If you want something old school from slipknot i recommend Duality or Spit it Out
This is vol 3 after Iowa and yes slipknot does have some murder stuff in their first album the song ----prosthetics---- is about a 1960 horror film about a guy murdering his ex wife and her husband in the middle of the night in their bed in their mansion and the song ----purity---- is about a murder of a teen girl that was buried alive and she made a tape recording that they sampled in the song or her sister or whatever talking about how tragic is was I think y’all should react to those two songs
I think it's required to listen to Prelude 3.0 leading into this. Really sets the stage and it always felt like the curtain lifting before this song burns your face off. XD
"I'll hit that beer can with a baseball bat," "clown you figure out something else to do" haha founded the band, but never heard anyone actually say this out loud
Yes, both percussionists have an almost identical drum setup. The main difference used to be that Shawn's used to rise while Chris' rotated. Both percussionists also do backup vocals.
First time I've heard this, legit. The drumming is standing out like a mug. Will check out the suggestions. Love me some Brotha Lynch, but the b***hes call me Kevin.
If you want the horror, gory kinda metal, you want death metal, like Cannibal Corpse, they've got songs like Hammer Smashed Face, I Cum Blood, Every Bone Broken, etc. I class Slipknot as alt metal, because they infuse a lot of different aspects.
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head i like Owls more too. Clean is also my style but life is so crazy that i try to embrace it and savor the intence or weird.
