I just finished my Dodge Truck with the Raptor Liner. Dodge Trucks from 1994-2000 all have the same paint problems. Clear coat comes off and then the fading starts. I decided to use this product on my truck since it sets outside. Its a great product and popular among the four wheel drive community for durability.
Turn out pretty good? Has UV protection & super durable...Mine is only weeks old, but others that done it few years ago seem to be happy with how its holding out! Id like to do my boat & fibreglass camper with Raptor !
@@miked.r.6671 Mike, it turned out great. The secret to making this stuff last is the prep work. Sanding, priming bald spots and a good thorough wipe down before spraying. To be honest I hated the taping and masking part worse than anything, very time consuming but important to having a good paint job.
Mike I forgot one thing, after sanding I pressure washed the entire truck before taping and masking. Then I did a wipe down with mineral spirits just to make sure the body was clean.
@@timatchley3862 I hear ya dude! , The taping was very time consuming! Now that Ive done it, I can tape / mask in 1/3 the time after some advice from auto body guys! I used brake clean & mineral spirits before tape & spray.
@@miked.r.6671 Thanks for the video, I Raptor Lined the bed of my truck four years ago and it still looks great. I used the same methods on the truck body so hopefully it will last. Its good talking to you and good luck on any future projects.
Best video on Raptor Lining a vehicle - hands down! Fast forwarding the sanding process, and all other bits that we don't need to watch. Great music. Awesome video. Great job!
@@scootermcgee3451 Holding out Great! Just back from a 2 week trip in Wilderness.....Hose off & good to go.. Dirt doesn't stick. The Raptor will last longer then Diapers in a Land Fill!
You can purchase similar spray gun with adjustable spray nozzle ( Vari-Nozzle) to lock the spray consistency . You can load the raptor into a conventional gravity spray gun as well , but covers nice with the one in kit . Quite user friendly product & can be used on on your backyard driveway, or a " Trailer Park " Mr Lahey!
What do you do for the cab under the doors and the painted inner sides of the doors? My truck is silver and i am wanting to go O.D. Green and wonder if spraying the inner sides of the doors will cause the weatherstripping to not seal against the liner paint?
I used tint colour called " Anvil" I used 75 ml to every bottle or Tintable Raptor. You can use up to 100 ml, but it overfills the bottle, so 75ml is sweet. Black used on hood/ front bumper. Theres another video that shows finished job better. Really happy with results.
Raptor Paint Jobs RGV To paint a Dodge Ram Double cabin how many Raptor pots do I need? Is that raptor used or diluted with thinner or gasoline? and know if the final finish would be shiny? or is it matte? How about the dust? Does the powder stick too much? Well, it seems to me that after filling with dust and washing with water and soap, the truck would later be dull and opaque?
Dirt washes off very easily , and it seems dirt doesnt stick to it .Hose almost does it all.You cant use a sponge or it tears it up. Bucket soap & Brush..... People think its a flat paint, but its actually semi gloss finish/urethane finish. Theres another video, that shows finish better if you like view .
You have a new subscriber. I liked your description. I have a Dodge Ram the same as yours and I want to paint it this black with Raptor producer, a question, that glossy black finish remains perennial, that is, does it not become opaque and dull when dust falls and then when you wash it it remains opaque? , is that I do not want to be spending later on silicone so that it is shiny after I wash it. and the other thing is to know if it gets dirty a lot of black color. ?
The finish is actually semi gloss in appearance & has Ultraviolet protection, so you dont have to worry about it fading. It washes easily with hose & a brush. Good luck, I hope it turns out nice ;)
I used 10 bottles of Raptor, but didn't require doing the box as I have plastic liner. The box might require another 4 bottles maybe if you do that. I did inside door jams as well ....2 coats everywhere and covers nicely at 60 PSI
Held up great so far, and no fading or chips . I just wash it normally with a brush and soap /water . You cant use a sponge, or it will just tear it apart . Highly recommended if you thinking about doing it. Prep is the key & time consuming. Very durable/ UV protected . Thinking about doing it to my camper/boat in springtime .
Thanks Dude! I used 3 bottles black for hood/grill & front bumper.... 6 bottles tintable ( colour Anvil) for rest of truck. I have plastic bed liner, so didn't do in there. I think I will do the mirrors & spray inside fender wells soon. Yeah, the prep/tape takes awhile. I did inside the doors/jams as well. Pretty happy with how it turned out!
Mike D.R. I have a Gray Ram, and I would like to know if you can send me images of your Dodge Ram truck to see the finishes. help me my brother please. or if you have an instagrans account where I can see it? You need to remove the clear coat with 180 grit sandpaper. I used scotchbrite to get in the some places as well. Proper prep is key. The Raptor will bond very strong, and still looks great with no issues 1.5 yrs later so far.
Shouldnt be a problem, but you will have to take your time & wait as your compressor loads up the tank, so your PSi doesnt fall. I sprayed around 60 PSi . You have about an hr before bottle gets hard, so plenty of time , and do one section/bottle at a time . Add Hardener.....Shake N Shoot....One bottle at a time.
@@miked.r.6671 right on... i believe my air compressor is a 4 gallon and the vehicle i'm going to do is a jeep so there isn't as much surface area to cover. The kit i was looking at was the gallon or 4 bottle kit, you think that'd be enough? 2 door soft top yj jeep
@@thespig13 Hmm... Id say you might be cutting it close with 4 bottles...I know other guys with jeeps who said they used 6 bottles , but also did bumpers with 2 coats . You just goin black?
It looks just like when I originally sprayed it. I sure took it to the test this year with many trips in the backroads/wilderness . No problems whatsoever with chipping or fading, and UV protection. Recommended if your considering to do it.
Prep Work is keep....Get that clear coat off is a must ! Time consuming, but makes for better end result .Taping takes awhile! I did 2 coats at 60 PSI, and turned out really nice. Theres another video with better end result video/pics if you like to look. Raptor is very user friendly , and I really happy with how it turned out. Do It Jake!
Mike D.R. Thanks for the reply brotha! Most of my clear had flaked off so it won’t be too hard remove but the good thing is the body is all straight and no rust. Interior is clean as the day it came off the showroom floor but the paint is really an eye sore to me. Thanks again Mike.
80-180 grit to get that clear coat off...Some scotchbrite to get into the harder places... Brake clean / Primer all bare metals....Adhesion promoter to all plastics prior to paint ( two coats )
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Wallace Julian I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.

Tint colour is called 'Anvil" from any auto body supplier. I added 75 ml to every bottle of Raptor . You can use up to 100 ml of tint to every bottle. Of course, make sure you purchase the tintable raptor ;)
Thanks JR . Raptor is great and still looks like the day I put in on...I don't see any chips even whatsoever, given I take it on lots gravel roads . UV Protected & tough stuff! People say " You will Never get that off". Im like " yeah, thats the idea"! Do it ! Just spend the time prepping properly .
Nice work (like that you did the letters too) - I customised my X5 and finished it with raptor (youtube X5 offroad beast - it's a little slide show), gets more attention at car shows than anything else there - will be doing more projects in the future.
Had a look at the X5 Offroad Beast.....Looks Sic! Nice Dude! Theres another video I posted with better end result video/photos taken if you wanna have a lookie
No Tiger Stripes....Covers very nicely with 2 coats, and its more of an undercoating type gun, then traditional sprayer...As long as you keep gun at same distance & get the psi you like, its very user friendly....I liked 60 PSI texture & turned out very even. Do it!
@@miked.r.6671 Thanks. It's been a long time but project its reaching its end. Installed some lights today and planning for a gin pole attachment too. I actually feel like doing my entire truck now.
Great dude... Theres another video with better images of end result. Took it on 2 week trip in wilderness. Mud doesn't seem to stick to it...Rinse off with hose...Super durable Im sure it will last
Too Wet / Too Close = Tiger Stripes. So, just avoid that & your good House Machine! Raptor is very user friendly, so as long as you keep it consistant, you shouldnt have any problems. I stuck with 60 psi for both coats, and got no Zebra, Tigers, or Lions.......Oh My! ;)
Tint colour is called "Anvil". Raptor comes in black ( Non tintable) and tintable version .Add 75-100 ml tint to each bottle . Shake n shoot. Still looks like new after 2.5 yrs!

And just think, you too can get that same texture as your living room walls. But wait if you order now, we' ll throw in a free application device for only shipping and handling charges. Go ahead you know, you can't stand it.
Hmmm .. Now you got me thinking Frank ! Put that free Undercoat spray gun to use & Raptor my Livingroom, Bedroom & shower even! Everything but the toilets & Bathtub! That might hurt! With proper preparation, that Raptor sticks to anything! lol I wonder if anyone has Raptored a Mtn Bike?
Thanks :) Not much done to the truck aside from 2" leveling kit / ...Rancho RS 900S Shocks./ Air Bags ..Edge Milage Max tuner....FASS Air Intake....BD Diesel Lift Pump. Straight Thru stainless Exhaust, and just took out the Turbo Silencer Ring, for That Turbo Whistle sound thats so Kewl like a Jet Aircraft !
It’s obvious it was your first time. Cousin has it done and the right way. Had it done to his 86 Suburban. Two tone and I must say it looks amazing. Few hundred dollars more that’s the way to go. But hey keep learning 😉
@@gsgaud Thanks Mike. Yeah, it Helps Them Cope with Their Low Self Esteem ! These AA holes ( 1st A = Anomymity) are always the ones with no videos themselves lol Rock On Brudda !
The REALITY that you have to go through all this effort is due to an owner being a slob & not taking pride in their vehicle. I’ve had cars & trucks that are 20+ years old with no paint issues, because I get off my ass & wash + wax + seal the paint. This is also why I park away from people in lots - too many cockroaches that don’t care.
Yeah, I sometimes like it....Sometimes not so much Chris lol I may repaint hood in the spring & Raptor my Boat/Camper while Im at it. I might even tape off my head and Raptor paint some hair on Dude! This stuff is The Shit!
