I've had some of my best views on raquette lake during golden hour. Its a stunning lake. The AA crew stayed at that campsite in the winter and its cool to recognize it, and yet have it look so completely different. I really enjoyed that peaceful paddle, I'm sure it was even better in person. Thanks for sharing.
I first camped there two years ago over Labor Day and had the best time, you can check it out on my “Quest” video if you’d like. Every year I tell myself that I’m going to winter camp there but just don’t seem to make it, this year definitely!🤣 The canoeing really was peaceful, I’ve wanted to paddle up that inlet for the longest time! I couldn’t believe that I only saw one other person there paddling a kayak, being Memorial Day weekend I figured the lake would be busy but it was real quiet. Maybe because it’s black fly season right now which, were only out on the lake!🤣 I had to put on a head net for a little while 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll tell you what though, from the big island that was a really long paddle! Paddling is a little different than hiking I’ve learned🤣🤣 Thanks for watching bro, cheers 🍻👊
Hey G👋 Believe it or not, there were no bugs on the island, they were all out on the lake!🤣🤣 Every year I tell myself, “I’m going winter camping out there”🤣🤣 maybe this coming winter? Glad you enjoyed it, cheers 🍻
Great weekend away Dan. Got the island to yourself. I thought you were going to yak those rapids there. Enjoy the golden hour and a bit e tele lol. Nice video mate. 👍🍻
Hey Steve👋 Haha! I thought about running the rapids but my arms were tired. I know it didn’t look it but that whole trip from the island to the end of that river was around four or more miles, one way 🤣. Seems canoeing is a little different than hiking 🤣. I just had to download the new season of Stranger Things for the trip.🤣 One should always have access to electronic entertainment wherever you are 🤣. Cheers 🍻
Awesome video! Did you happen to go through the lean-to log book? I actually stayed on that island in that same lean-to right around this time last year on my week long NFCT Section 1 fishing trip. There was also a REALLY interesting entry from a descendant of Nessmuk that stayed there while he was recreating the trip from Old Forge to Paul Smith's and back.
Hey Dax👋 Aww man, that’s the one thing that I didn’t think about, reading the log book! Well, now I have a good excuse to go back🤣 Okay, I’ll admit my ignorance here, I had to look up “Nessmuk”🤣 When it brought up George Washington Sears I thought I made a mistake, until I read it🤣 That’s pretty cool! Thanks for watching and I’ll be going back soon!😁 cheers 🍻
Oh yeah, ya gotta go on a canoe trip. It’s especially fun with the kids. I used the night lapse setting on my GoPro 9, and with the media mod you can plug in a battery pack and leave it recording all night without using up the GoPro battery. Oh, if you try it, make sure in the night lapse setting that you set it to video. Glad you enjoyed it👍 cheers 🍻
