1950's: "Man, in 50 or 60 years, we're going to be living on the moon." 2010's: Here's a filter that makes you look like a cat.

De-evolution - brought to you the same people who can't accept this equation: irrational fear + irrational ambition = irrational aggression = oppression = EVIL

1950's: all this optimism about the future of science 2010's: da the erf is flat and who needs science seems like the "age of stupidity and superstition" at 5:30 has returned

Absolutely astonishing, given it is a Disney production made in 1957 - and without a hint of any "creator" nonsense.

Paul Frees' voice. I could listen to that man read a phone book and be entertained...👍

I wondered if they had gotten Orson Welles to do the narration.

This is partly made from 'Mars and Beyond', but the last part is from 'Man in Space'.

I remembered that this program is on Disney plus. I also remembered that people can see a cameo appearance of Donald Duck on this documentary.

I have the full version of this episode. It is almost 50 minutes long. This has been cut.

Maybe a tad unpractical, but i do like the ambition people had back in the day.

27:30 It seems wrong to me that these people discuss and show details of the V2 without mentioning another significant matter. The rockets now usually referred to as V1 and V2 (from Vergeltungswaffe, which means weapon of reprisal or weapon of revenge) were developed at the Peenemünde Rocket Development Center under the leadership of Wernher von Braun. The facility employed a significant number of forced laborers, including prisoners from concentration camps. It is challenging to provide an exact number of deaths attributed to the development of the V1 and V2 rockets due to limited documentation and varying estimates. However, historians estimate that thousands of forced laborers perished during the construction and testing phases of these rockets. I did not seriously expect that the deaths would be mentioned, but nevertheless, the failure to discuss them makes me feel very angry. See also Operation Paper Clip.

The Mars lander with non grid fins and landing legs very close to what spaceX doing with it's re-uuseable boosters? That's amazing thought of in the 50's !! But then on earth we don't need the parachute.

The modern era was mostly invented by 1946. Mankind peaked in 1969. Everything since is derivative. Yes including your damn iPhone and SpaceX
