It sends a shiver down my spine thinking about it but we were very close to having no Beatles at all. All four grew up thinking they would have to do National Service as teenagers but the UK government of the time declared that no boy born after October 1939 would have to serve. One more year and John and Ringo would have been off the music scene and who knows what they would done after that.

I'll bet John regrets the day that he accepted Paul into his band the Quarrymen.. But without the influence and talent of Paul.. the Beatles would not have been the phenomenon they were
Why on earth would he regret that? The two became the most successful songwriting partnership of all time. Their friendly rivalry brought the best out of each other and propelled the band (and the world of music) to new heights.
