I've tried. I did a series on Queen where I bought all their early classic albums and listened to each one at least five times and did a full review of each album. I really try to keep an open mind. But yea, I can only take them in relatively small batches.
Wow, you found some gems! Smithereens and live Bad Company, Derringer and Foghat! Cool. You must have the biggest collection of CDs 💿 by anyone by now. I also love live albums and collect them. There’s nothing like a live show.
Thanks so much. I still try to keep my purchasing and collection under some control, but starting to lose that control...lol. I'm with you on live albums. I love them. And they can be the perfect introduction to a band for a newbie as well.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Well, 13 CDS 💿 for $13 is a good deal. A Buck $ a piece is hard to resist. Live shows are more exciting to me because I hear how a band really sounds and sometimes they improvise like the Doors and Zeppelin did.
@@dynjarren8355 yes. I agree. Zeppelin boots are fun. Zeppelin could be great live….and not so great. And really could stretch out the jamming as per even their official release live albums.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I have several Doors live CDs from Rhino Records that they released. Great stuff! At a Boston gig Jim was sloshed and slurring his words but he made it through the concert somehow. Amazing!
@@dynjarren8355 I have some of those too - very cool. I have that Bright Midnight Live In America is a cool one too which has some of those Boston performances on it.
Hi 👋 Alan. Good bargain haul. Like you I haven't been a great fan of Queen. I didn't like Freddie Mercury's vocals alot. I have been listening to a double cd I have of them live , it's called Killers. I do like Bohemian Rhapsody. Golden Earring had a hit here in NZ titled Radar Love 50 years ago. Cool track. Is your t - shirt the band Zombies. I liked them back in the,1960s. They did a good cover of Gerswhins classic Summertime. I like Wizzard they had a huge hit here called See my Baby Jive in 1973. Rock 'n' Roll Hoochie Coo I love. A good song to sing along too. I have a copy of that cd by Bad Company live. It is good and I was listening to it recently playing it loud. I like their cover of the Coasters song Young Blood . Very good Alan. From Carl.
Thanks Carl - yea Bad Company's version of Young Blood is on that it is really good. Very good live collection actually. No my shirt is actually of a Zombie movie...lol. I like horror movies a lot too. I have to give Wizzard a listen. Other listeners have been recommending them so I'll check it out. Thanks so much.
12 CDs for $10 - you’ve got to be the king of the bargain finders! For me, the big winner in your haul is “The Whole Of The Moon” autographed CD. “The Whole Of The Moon” is my favorite song by The Waterboys. It always perks me up and puts a smile on my face. I think that Wizzard would be a good candidate for your U.K. vs. U.S. series. Fun fact: Roy Wood was engaged to Annie Haslam for four years. Of the engagement, she said, “It was four of the funniest years of my life.”
Thanks. Yea that signed Waterboys is sweet. I had heard about Annie's engagement to Roy Wood - was surprised when I first heard it for sure. I literally know next to nothing about him so should be an interesting listen.
Hi Alan - once again, great finds and ridiculously cheap lolol. Signed version of Whole of the Moon is very nice. Some great CD's there. Happy listening - when ya get round to it lolol. Cya Doug
Nice finds Alan I have most of them but not for 10 bucks I assure you.Probably didn't pay 10 bucks for one of them lol.I was going to say you need to quit your job to listen to all this but then I'm retired and I can't keep up lol.The Golden Earring you got was their first album. After that they did Miracle Mirror and then Winter-Harvest.Their next album was Eight Miles High that was the start of their same four piece band when they got Barry Hay to sing.I have their first one in the box set I have but in the wild if you can find it I also have 3 Originals which is their first 3 albums.Enjoy my friend
Thanks Tom - thought of you instantly with that Golden Earring album - never saw that one before . Will give it a listen when I retire....lol, which is probably never....But it's in the backlog now.
I didn't know that Carl thanks. I'm very familiar with Cherry Red, though don't see them much here in the states, but obviously an incredible label. Never heard of RPM. Thanks again.
Fran Cosmo sounds like Geddy Lee on the Barry Goudreau album. Otherwise, I agree, it really is Boston-esque. It should have been received better, especially anything with Brad Delps vocals being in limiited availability. The Stones' compilation on SACD for under $1: no brainer; WOW! As a sidebar, it's interesting that The Kinks released their "Rock n' Roll Fantasy" the year Bad Coming recorded theirs (alas no idea is original!). And yeah, Wounded Bird got the rights to put out a lot of reissues which was really nice. Fantastic buys, Alan!🎉
Thanks. ooh I'm not a big fan of Geddy Lee's voice. I've tried for decades to get more into Rush. I can only take them in small doses. I've tried. So gonna be "interesting" listening to the Barry Goudreau album I guess.
I am glad I wasn't with you when you saw that Waterboys CD. We would have fought over it🤣🤣 I have been thinking about you. I hope nothing fell down during the earthquake.....you know how stuff falls around your house. Record Store Day has a live album by Foghat recorded at the Warehouse. May try and get that. I can't believe you can't get Wounded Bird there. Not even from Amazon?? Beware of aftershocks......
Earthquake was kind of fun. No big deal thankfully. The original Foghat at Warehouse - now that's kind of interesting. I'm not a big fan of theirs - two best of's and the original classic live album should suffice. You can buy Wounded Bird on the secondary market, like Amazon for sure. But they're still around and have deals on their website (very low budget website) and they won't sell to anyone with a NY address. Apparently they can't. Never heard of that before. Some kind of tax thing I imagine.
Well done Alan, First may I wish you "Good health and a long life, well in to the hundred's" {You'll need it for all the album's you buy. Second, Golden Earring had a big hit in the UK with a song called Radar Love. Wizard was extreamly popular in the UK as you probably know and I liked Rick Derringer & the band way back when. Not listened to them for many a year. So, again, GOOD HEALTH & A LONG LIFE. PS. Golden Earing were pretty good, quite loud don't know why they didn't do better. PPS.... Just read the comment's below, WHAT DO I KNOW ? LOL. They obviously did do pretty well..
thanks, yea been learning more and more about Golden Earring over the last couple of years. I like them. Huge discography...and don't want to add to much more to my backlog...lol
Everything is categorized in my database - as of right now, I have 5,241 albums in my collection, with another approx. 400 that are in my backlog - not listened to or not listened to enough to "officially" become part of my collection. Probably have another 800 45 singles that are also not catelogued in the collection. thanks.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Aight.. Cool im a cd collector too or should i say what my girlfriend tells everyone that im a hoarder.. Mine is about 46980ish for the moment..
@@djfloow5579 47,000 !!!!!!! I can't even fit my 5000+ and most importantly, I can't keep up with the listening to them. Gotta say, for me, was never about having the biggest, but knowing everything I have. I have to listen to every album I buy multiple times until it even makes it on my shelves and database...But I'm a bit nutty I guess. Wow - you have a store - well beyond a collection. Congratulation.
