[RARE] Ingeborg Hallstein sings a barely human aria with ease

This incredible ease with which she can reach the highest notes... I can't think of anyone that even comes close. Certainly one of the most beautiful soprano voices of all time.

This aria is severely tame compared to many I have heard her sing. Flawless doesn't even touch her performance. She is sheer brilliance in human form!

I have listened to hundreds of hours of this voice. She makes me cry happy tears.

Fantastic agility and purity, the vocal lines are seamless, and the voice never shrill or overtaxed! Amazing soprano, this aria sounds really hard for most sopranos, but not for her.

This is the only number omitted from the otherwise complete Konstanze that Schwarzkopf recorded in 1944, and when one listens to this Hallstein rendition one can see why. Even in her early leggero days, Schwarzkopf boasted neither the ease nor the fluency with which Hallstein negotiates the stratospheric fioritura in this item. Her timbre is youthful and attractive, her phrasing musical, and the overall effect is of a master vocalist delighting in her own abilities, which is as it should be. Mozart himself admitted that he sacrificed the sentiment of this aria to the 'geläufige Gurgel' (well-known throat) of Mlle Cavalieri, the creatrix of the role, so we should not be surprised that the agile divisions and sunny B flat major bespeak little of loneliness and desolation. Actually, the composer can hardly be blamed for trying to deflect attention from the libretto's inadequacy: 'Kummer ruht in meinem Schoss' (Sorrow dwells in my lap) is a particularly crass remark from a woman lamenting the absence of her fiancé!

Obviously not the ones who make a world career are the best. During her best years travelling everywhere was not so common as it is nowadays. She and Fritz Wunderlich are gems not so widely known as they were in their homeland.

I have always been a big fan of her. But operatic trained people, understand that she is singing this with many "style errors". Nonetheless, what a glorious voice. She has a massive break on her high C into her upper register that makes it difficult for her to sing on that break without a breath or legato. but again, what a voice!!!! Love her!

Wunderschön gesungen,aber Erna Berger hat's für mich noch besser gesungen
