My meeting with Swami Narottam Dasji was none less than a privileged accident. Visiting Maijana Tal to document an Himalayan Yogi staying there over 21 years, I came to know about this amazing saint completely engrossed in Nama Japa. The hurdle was, to trek through dense forest where he stays in isolation. Swamiji initially was reluctant to talk or say but eventually & cryptically informed me about the importance of Nama Japa, how it differs from Mantra Japa & why Guru is important. Nama Japa which seems simple , is yet highly powerful & easiest way to completely merge with consciousness. Hope this small interview helps all those in the path
Swami Radhika Dasji arrived in Uttarakhand much before 1984. Finding solitude for his Tapasaya (spiritual practise/ meditation) he scouted many areas of holy Himalayas finally settling down in open at banks of Maijana Tal 8200 ft , 4 kms above the remote hamlet of Marwadi village in Uttarkashi. He stayed alone in open without any facilities for 3-4 years bearing cold, hunger, animals. Finally seeing his austerities, villagers started flocking to him for Darshana. In search of solitude , Swamiji moved 500mts above the tal in a small hand made cave , where he meditated for long. Seeing his longing for solitude, the villagers built him an Kuti just above the cave, where he now resides. No villagers go and visit him except festivals like Navratri. No guest are entertained. It was just my pure luck that I arrived here on navratri eve & was lucky enough to stay at his hut, which had immense energy. In the morning Swamiji was kind enough to shower me with grace with his thoughts which I have recorded in his interview. The main things which astounded me was his simplicity of understanding vedic concepts, the application form of Bhakti & the one pointed focus towards ones goal. I hope this interview helps all those who are seekers..
