Good job with the restore but the blade grinds are horrendous lol. But there was only so much you could do. Like bring the one side back some so they could at least be even.

Hello, my grandfather passed away 6 years ago now and he was a man deeply connected with the Italian Alps and he passed on this passion to me. Today, while I was organizing his things, I found a backpack that he used, and in my opinion, it is a gem for its time. Unfortunately, it is in very bad shape and has two holes made by mice. Bit of a tip. Instead of a pane of glass, try to locate a ships porthole glass. Its a lot thicker and both sides are ground flat so much better for sanding and especially lapping.

As someone who worked as an electro-plater, it might be helpful, if you have access to the solution to try applying a layer of copper to fill in the pitting before you nickel plate.

Correct, that is a MVSN dagger.

That's not a MVSN dagger, on the MVSN dagger, the eagle is much more stylized and the grips are black. It's a GIL knife. The GIL (Gioventù italiana del littorio) was a youth organization similar to the German Hitler Jugend. And this knife is not "super rare" either

In fact, everybody should be very cautious about this knife, said to be used by GIL officers, though no official document mentions it, and without period photos showing officers wearing it, which by the way isn't a proof this knife didn't existed. There was indeed a real GIL knife, well documented, but much more simpler, with wooden grips. Some people even say this GIL officer knife was in fact made on purpose as souvenirs with diverse spare parts of various daggers for allied occupation troops in Italy.
