Only risk is that I'm not sure if the fish was frozen before they cooked it. You have to do that in order to safely consume any part of it raw like they did.
As a Jamaican I can definitely say Matt is the perfect person you could've picked as a guide, your guys's synergy is actually perfect and he's such an excellent source of information about the food. Highlight to that crab blushing moment 6:27
I’ve been a fan since BEFRS was at 400k I’ve always said for the quality this guy needs to be having at least 8million subscribers and to see it now and he is touring and showcasing our island our cuisine ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it’s amazing ..Thank You
I just love this open-minded trio… Joel, Mark and Sonny… Their excitement and their enthusiasm to learn about new cultures and to journey into new culinary adventures are simply contagious. What a beautiful legacy that Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain have started and have left behind… “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” Mark Twain
I'm still so sad about Anthony. He definitely left behind a legacy and Joel/Mark/Sonny are really inviting everyone to come visit Jamaica. I love seeing the representation as a Jamaican, but I also love all the other countries too!!
Seems Sonny can appreciate any kinds of food..huge fish, toxic fish..he describes the taste very well and make his viewers want to try some! Personally I want to try the deep fried fish! Looks yummy 😆💕
I once told someone that we eat puffer fish in the Caribbean and that our cooks don't need any special certificate or training to cook them, and I've never heard of anyone dying from puffer fish poisoning in the Caribbean. The person is a very well-read and well-travelled individual. He said it's probably some other type of fish in the same family as puffer fish that is not poisonous.
Knowing what I know about pufferfish and the venom and all of that, it's just one of those things I don't want to mess with. Mi love off lionfish though LOL
We catch Checkered Puffers here in Florida.. Call them toadies. If you skin them right, no poison. And they look like little chicken legs... Only with a tail. Really good fried up.
Yeah was probably a porcupine fish not a pufferfish, the one in the video here was also a porcupine fish, they're closely related but in different families.
I believe it's the way how we prepare our food here in the Caribbean! We take our time to clean, and cook the food properly(no unwashed, undercooked meat) etc. For eg, i've never heard of a Salmonella or Ecoli outbreak here in the Caribbean..!
I love SONNY HES HILARIOUS OMG!!!!The food looks amazing in Jamaica!!!!I also think u and Matt make a great team on the island!!!!Thanks 4 the video cant wait 4 the next!!!!👍💞💕💙🤩🥰
As a Florida lifetime resident the state is pushing the catching and consumption of the Lionfish. It helps a lot that they are DELICIOUS. Spear fishing is probably the best way to get them. Oh and they are working on training wild grouper to eat them and having a good deal of success.
@@tonymarselle8812 From what I have seen scuba divers have been hand feeding the Lionfish to the grouper to get them to develop a taste for them. The Grouper apparently are doing so and can work out how to swallow them (head first).
To Everyone who sees this comment: Keep pushing in life and just never give up! You are a wonderful person, you can achieve everything you want, God may bless you.🥰🥰🥰
I’m a Jamaican and I’ve always been a subscriber of the channel I’m a huge fan. I’ve been waiting patiently for you to visit Jamaica, however this makes me very disappointed. There is so much more to our country you are yet to see. I hope you visit again and experience the country to its fullest.❤️
The fish is not a fugu, but a porcupine fish. In japan, we call this particular fish as Harisenbon. Harisenbon is not poison and it's relatively safe to consume ( although japanese rarely eat it ). A real fugu has so much poison, and even a small dosage can kill. So the Jamaicans are likely to avoid it if it is actually poisonous.
This is the real fish!!! Straight from the sea, I'm from the Caribbean myself and I went home recently and I tell yuh the fish there so fresh and sooooo gooood
I'm honored as a jamaican and fisherman, to have my country been showcased in such a positive way .also man don't feed man so don't do that especially at places like this?
Love your positivity and your Wife must be just as great to put up with your jokes lol. Love watching and keep everyone watching smiling. Hello from Canada
2:06 For anyone that’s curious, different species of pufferfish have toxins in different parts of their body (typically in one or more organs) but other species don’t actually have any toxins at all.
Hi! Im from the Philippines, it's not a popper fish.. Maybe it belongs to the family/species of popper fish but it has no poison on it. Its very delicious specially the liver.
I think it's more of the porcupine fish than a puffer fish. It's actually yummy once you remove all those spikes and cook it on coconut milk with lots of 🌶️🌶️🌶️. 😋😋😋
i'm a trinidadian and trinidad is located in the caribbean i am very proud that he visited the caribbean and even so a country that is not far from trinidad
