@@secondaccount6660Superman outside of being a superhero is a regular suit wearing man. When he comes out that mf its ass kicking time. Jay z said when he steps in the booth the suit is coming off basically he finna go beast mode
I remember this night. Sun was just going down. It was like the whole world stopped and put the radio on. We pulled over on the way to work just to listen. Back then, if you missed it, you missed it.
I remember hearing this when he did it... I was walking home from playing basketball in the park all day and I literally stopped walking to sit down and listen. Crazy...
"I drop Heat, when you bring the Sun up" Do people understand HOV, he's giving you multiple completely different perspectives on a single simple line the GOD 🔥🔥🔥
@@nq4198 its ahead of its time because Jay knew that Game couldnt resist namedropping everyone and cant keep his mouth shut. Look at all of Game's antics the last 2 yrs.
The moment when Jay said "they like the drunk uncle in ya family" and Flex saying "Yo!" and everybody laughin and clappin makes this that more classic lol
"i dont give a fuck bout cars and chrome rims, i got apartments u could fit your home in" hes got some sick lines in there, hes too witty to ever be fully appreciated
I remember listening to this interview and freestyle live the night it dropped as well as 95 percent of the other Flex and Hot 97 Angie shows I was tuned in every night for all the classics even the Either Beef :) so greatful I'm from NYC and grew up with Hip Hip the same Era as Big, Hov, Nas, Jada, and so many more!
Omg remember when this moment happened. Jay-Z in hot 97 studios free styling would shut down NYC having fans in their whip glued to the radio. I grew up in philly but went to college in north jersey and I fondly remember the thrill of being able to pick up hot 97 in my car for the first time. Before streaming anything online spoiled us. Only got a taste of hot 97 from DJ mixtapes on occasion, when they would include the hot 97 freestyle as a track. Another classic was the Lox 9 minute freestyle cut. Keeping it 💯 though, this Jay “freestyle” was his lyrics from Dear Summer. Back at the time us fans frowned upon rappers doing freestyles with pre-established lyrics. Only because it’s not a true “off the cuff” organic freestyle which is more impressive. Don’t get me wrong Jay was capable and one of the best true freestylers. Just think he was so big at the time and him just appearing on hot 97 was him doing Flex a solid. Probably had no intention to spit but I’m sure he got Flex begging for it. Also, as I recall he used this specific freestyle to subtly acknowledge - in the form of warning shots - the Game & Jim Jones’ disses toward him. He did a few bars in beginning to address them before spitting Dear Summer verses. Rappers who were guilty of using lyrics from their tracks used verses from yet unreleased tracks, so it came off organic to fans because the lines were never heard yet. But later on when the album/song drops, with the same exact bars, it discredited the rappers freestyle abilities with fans. Basically a badge of honor stripped from their overall standing among fans who debate who is in that coveted top 5
That "fresh outta probation I got a charge to throw away. My lawyer said for 80 large it'll go away. Not that ain't no money to Jay. So you can get it broad day, on Broadway while TRL taping". Y'all can hate on Jay but he gotta be the most clever/wittiest in history. Him and Big, charisma unmatched on wax.
“Had to take off the blazer,,loosen up the tie/Step inside the booth,,Superman’s Alive!!!” That was my 11th grade year when Hov had everybody scrambling
You plan to bang, I plan to bang too You playin' the games, I'm seein' the thing through You sayin' my name to entertain ya crew I ain't playin' no games, when shots exchange you're through Fresh off probation I got a charge to throw away My lawyer say for eighty large it'll go away And that ain't no money to Jay So you could get it broad day on Broadway while TRL's tapin' You playin the game you know you ain't gon' win Quit playin them childish games with grown men I don't give a fuck about cars or chrome rims I got apartments you could put your home in Can I live? Can I keep goin'? I wrote... Can I keep goin'? Do not put my verse on y'all records dawg! Jay Z is such a master of being strategic. The man is worth a half billion dollars. He is above the petty disses and rap beefs. He could all day, diss those rappers that try to diss him, but it is really irrelevant at this point in his career and life. He is greatest rapper of the last 20 years hands down. Album sales, lyrical ability, cultural impact, longevity, and most important business savy. To go from a drug dealer to a half-billion dollars is saying something. I am a Christian, but I can still respect the gift that God blessed him with.
Street talk diamon atx no that’s not true. This was a freestyle first then he made it a song. He did the same with drop it like it’s hot remix. He did a freestyle on 106&Park and then he got with snoop and really made it a track. Jay z has done this also with bits and pieces of other freestyles like 7 min freestyle with Big L. You listen to his freestyle and you can hear parts of songs he has done 10-15 years after
@@UptownAlleyFashion to me it's still written if I freestyle it's just going to be a freestyle I'm not going back to remember that shit I will play it but not add it to any song but maybe I should start
And it was coldest song on bleek album..... that's y hov the goat fr fr.... took a freestyle, turned it to a song, and put it on another nigga album👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Jay is really nice on this, there is a great deal of talent there, speaking as a fan of music in general, you cannot simply hate someone for being talented.
Also he grew and matured and it also made people that really pay attention growing mature at the same time and you can feel that and that's real J keep doing what you're doing
I remember my older cousin would come over when I was a youngin with them beef mixtapes every week lol that’s when I fell In love with Rap brah Roc-a-fella was always heavy them joints
No matter how many times I listen to this, ITS HARD AS HELL. You have never heard anybody kill a man as SICK as Jay did the Game. Jay came at Game with nothing but the business, with a hint of STREET. LOLOLOLOL. Jay took Game name and indirectly word played him!! LOLOLOL
Taking me way way way back! I randomly remembered the lyrics to this one today so I googled the lyrics, found the song, and here I am, nostalgia and all!
What's crazy is I'm 37 and now that I realize what hip hop and music is all about Jay Z has to be the best that's ever done this I didn't think that 10 years ago and I'm 37 now that's how I know
So fire he said it backwards. Peaches n Herb song is Reunited and it feels so good NOT hood like Hov said. Then next bar he said how he feel so good when he probably meant to say hood. He just got em mixed up.
"Think we need some time away They say, if you love it? You should let it out its cage And fuck it, if it comes back You know it's here to stay" Love that shit......
And not to mention, just the last 2 bars on Takeover is classic. It still gives me chills everytime I hear it: "All you other cats throwing shots at Jigga, you only get half a bar: FUCK Y'ALL NIGGAS!"
Looking back on this, and thinking about where Hov' is now, it's weird to think that he used to go on the radio and diss people in freestyles. Now he's a billionaire and it turns out he was right when he said everyone else was below him.
I remember the night this shit was live on Hot97. I had my tape deck on record. The whole ROC was i the building. This clip was just the end of it. Jay finished it off. After Bleek passed the mic Jay was like "..Im inspired..I wanna go on a lil bit." Flex switched the beat up right on time. Black Rob - Can I live. Even tho It aint a freestyle shit is still crazy.
What did this have to do with Drake? This was years before Drake came out...not to mention Jay has done several features for Drake. And Drake has been (arguably) the biggest rapper of this decade...so yeah youre doin a lot of dickeatin with this comment. And i aint even a Drake fan but its weird as fuck you'd bring him up here for no reason
1:25 You can hear him, after he stops rapping the 1st time, almost about to say something like "I wrote 94 bars I got a lot more" lmao DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN
Geron Fletcher Naw, plenty of artists that'll DO Jay in pretty easily. They don't get a chance or get killed. STACK BUNDLES back in 05 would've put Jay on ICE. #RNS Squad up niqqas!
Yup I was just coming out of red lobster me and my ex when my car starts back then automatically hot 97 came on so once I heard flex rewinding the first line over and over and that lox beat fitted jay even better then the lox I just said wait up ma I gotta hear this we stayed in that parking lot until the end and I remember being numb for about 5 minutes before shaking it off yo word.
