Yesterday I saw an inspection car (723 I think) in the same spot I saw 079 back in September (Fota Retail Park between Carrigtwohill and Glounthaune). Interestingly enough this is the only time I've sighted one.
G'day from AUSTRALIA your lack of graffiti is out standing being an old rail worker it's a pet hate of mine pleasure to watch this little irish rail video Cheeers
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Graffiti is generally quite uncommon on the railway here. However, it does still happen on some occasions, though it is cleaned off the trains quite quickly, and the train is usually not put into service until the graffiti has been removed.
Lovely stuff! As a Brit who is hoping to visit sometime this year where would you say the best place to go fro freight is? And are there any general times they pass through?
2 quick questions. 1 what is the reason on the 29000s for the blue item on front. 2 the dart transfers: is there maintenance at drogheda that can't be done for the darts at fairview?? Best wishes..
Thank you, the blue item was a surgical mask wrap applied on the front during Covid, in fact Irish Rail did this with several Darts as well. The reason for the dart transfers to Drogheda is because there is no wheel leathe at Fairview depot, there is one at Inchicore but due to paths, Drogheda works out quicker with transfers.
They don't use the same couplers. To do that they'd need an adapter. It's easier just to use the 29000s as they have the same couplers and doing it that way speeds things and doesn't complicate things.
