Today we go back to mountains of VT to rescue a rare 1955 Volkswagen Beetle. This old car was found & saved years ago by Mark. Let's start fixing this forgotten wrecked rusty old Beetle and get it back on the streets.
Metal has memory. Sometimes a good pull works out the metal. You have to pull just beyond where you want it to stop. In the 80s we pulled cars back to normal with farm tractors. We would call out the dents as 1st gear or 2 gear dents. LOL.
Someone else has already mentioned it but you need to pull out a bit beyond where you want the metal to stop and as you did hammer it as you go. I know you worked in a body shop when you were younger, I also did the same but I thought I would give you some encouragement and that is always helpful I think. As for Taylor I think he has learned his lesson. We had a guy where I live, he got in his car in the car park with phone in hand and backed out of the space turning while doing so straight into another car! I heard the bang and I can tell you the Lady was not happy! Aside from the obvious damage this car looks solid and it is great that you have a parts car. Thank you for the tip , washing cars , dumping trash and wet sanding parts was my extent . Thank you for the , not much of a clue what I was doing . Maybe should of attached / welded a piece on the gap to help pull the top half back after watching the edit . Learning 👍
I’m sitting on 2 project cars and one that needs a “refresh” and I am feeling a little overwhelmed. I can’t imagine having that many! I’d never live long enough to even begin on that much!
Love the ovals. My first car was a 57 that I paid $65 when I was15 from a Saab dealer in Pittsburg.and they towed it to my house because it wasn’t running and they were awesome. Great car. No rust except the front tubes. Ya I’m almost 70 yo. Love your videos.
That's my kind of body hammer. Front end is aligning much better. After moving all the VWs out of the yard, you now have a new collection of vehicles there. I'm surprised Jen hasn't mentioned them. LOL

Jay and his channel are great! Reminds of a kid I played baseball with- knew every baseball fact, had multiple expensive gloves and bats, couldn’t hit or catch a ball ever 😂 Pressure wash it and push it in your woods. 👍
You need a vision and some cars its better to set sights lower on the orgional theme but that one is special. Its an early 55. I enjoy your videos thanks.

@@mikescudder4621 no fenders, no headlights, no tail lights, no early oval seats , wrong shifter , wrong steering wheel, no early oval visor, no 4 tab hood, no ribbed door / window handles , no oval rear glass...I'm sure i am missing things but that's 4-5k in parts plus 2900...I'm not complaining, I'm just saying :))
@@5150mxVW I mean, with the parts bug you have, seems fairly complete between the two of them... thats the advantage of acquiring bugs\busses perhaps beyond repair, but perfect donors (show this to the wife).
My 55 still had the original rear apron but it was hammered up to fit a dual tailpipe. I picked up a fiberglass apron cover years ago that I'll be putting over it. I have most of the parts but the interior is shot. I just don't have the money to work on it right now. I definitely don't have the cash together it painted.
Try a propane torch set at middle temps while pulling,applying the heat directly along the crease lines and then gently hammering along them with a broad flat faced body hammer and your efforts will be less but better rewarded J... I hope Jen doesn't kick you to the doghouse for buying this one,especially seeing the size of the doghouse parked by the driveway lol 😆 😜 🤣
what the best ele impact gun J ? for the money on price low ?//tractor with chain on back of car to hold it in place//then you need some heat on the steel 2 keep in place //man hook -up your tractor to the back axle and pull from the back axle //and keep the car hook up in front end //now you move steel

Jay fond memories of working on my old Volkswagen!!!!!!!!!!! had a 1958 that I bought……….and then somebody gave me a 1957 oval window back in the date!!!!!!!!!!!!!
