After Eddie's passing, the studio is still in use and well maintained by Wolfgang Van Halen. Some details never seen before, such as the room with vintage Studer analog rig for track recording.
I grew up in the house above 5150 and sometimes they would leave the doors open and just jam , definitely very lucky to grow up there. I would see Eddie driving around in his 356 red Porsche , then his Muira then his black Countach , I never met him but I sure wish i had.
We all have to thank Wolfgang for being such a down to earth normal guy who’s kind enough to continue the legacy and give us all peaks back in time with these photos/videos/unheard recordings etc.
@@drewdean8643 he will do it when his solo career peters out, which, based on the success of his second solo album, will be probably after his third. Expect a turnaround and he’ll start playing VH songs and even doing a VH tribute tour. He will ride the gravy train like Dhani Harrison, Deeezil Zappa and a dozen other rockstar sons.
As a die hard and lifelong Van Halen fan this was an absolute treat!! Did anyone else notice the red and white striped Ibanez Destroyer? That guitar is legendary!!
Wow…just hits me in the gut! What a wonderful place! So so much history for this band. Thank you for posting this…I miss EVH, and AVH and…I miss em all! Nothing is the same anymore. To be a fly on the wall in there at any point. What a gift that would be. Andrew Bennett…I’m truly jealous of your time spent there…and other’s like Chris Bruck. I can’t imagine the things that got heard in that studio! I feel emotional…but not in a joyful way and can’t help it. Maybe I’m just depressed stm…but man…I miss this band. The current drama is ridiculous, and love Wolf for following his own path. Love his playing and singing. Just tremendous! I need a hug with wings! ❤❤❤😢
You'll never know how much you've enriched my soul by posting this. You can almost feel Eddie's presence there. Thank you for posting! Long live the King 👑❤️
In the behind the music they showed Wolfgang pulling the Frankenstein out of the case which was regular Kramer case lol. The guitar is worth millions and it's in a $100 case
I remember reading in an old Guitar World magazine he was going to a photo shoot and just tossing guitars into the bed of his pickup truck. No cases either! I think the issue was around 1990? He was on the cover with a black background.
I shot baskets on the basketball court I was with my friend Skip Gillette (awesome drummer) who was friends with Eddie and he was visiting him there I was to shy to go meet Eddie (so stupid) there were 2 Lamborghini's in the driveway off to the side of this court -
This is very moving for any fan of EVH but also from the POV of Wolf and Al. Family First!!! There is not a day that goes buy in my life where I don’t here Eddie. What a legacy!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was raised on these guys! My very FIRST song by van Halen,Jamie's crying. Wccc am 1290 and fm 107 in Hartford,CT. Way back when. 50+ years ago. We lived in great times lads!! So I raise my glass...a toast to the G.O.A.T.
Seeing WCCC mentioned is a blast from the past. I grew up in central CT and my radio dial was tuned to 106.9 from age 16 to 22 in the 80s and early 90s.
Thanks for making this I was thinking how cool the new footage of 5150 looked. There was some cool video when Matt Bruck was being interviewed and you could see Ed’s guitars hanging behind him.. That might be cool to add.. Again thanks ✌️🎸👑❤️🤍🖤
The pictures of 5150 in 2024 with Wolfie look like Eddie never even left.....everything is still the same. You are looking around like, "Where is Eddie at?"
That shot at 1:48 made me laugh, the rack of 5150 heads marked 5150, 5151, 5152 and 5153. I'm so happy that Wolf is keeping that place alive with music!
Eddie passing is and was the hardest one to accept. I know many great Legends have passed, But for some reason this one really HITS Home. It feels like yesterday.😞
We were on the Outer Banks of North Carolina when word came out of Eddies passing. We were on the ferry taking us to Ocracoke when my Brother told me and my Son he saw it online. I pulled out my phone and googled and saw it was true. I'm 61 and saw VH 8 times during their prime. 1979, 1981, three times in 1982 and three times in 1984. I saw them once with Cherone and again on the 2007 tour. 2007, we were at the first show in Charlotte. A young Wolf came out before the show and we called out to him and he walked over and signed an autograph for my Son. Fair Warning (1981) was the best show I saw. While on the ferry, I told my Son about Eddies solo on the FW tour. I was standing on the floor (general admission back then, no chairs) about 20 feet from the stage, dead center. When Eddie played the classical part of eruption, there was a huge cheer from the crowd and he looked up and smiled. As I told my Son that, my eyes filled with tears and my voice began to crack up. I saw that show in Charlotte also. It was at what was then the Charlotte Coliseum. It's the Bojangles Coliseum now. Many fun trips to see VH back in the day. Cherished memories. Where have all the good times gone? I enjoyed watching this video. Thanks for posting it.
Wolfgang is just an awesome guy. he looks like a person who is down to earth and just loves what he does and what he has done. He is by far one of the best musicians in today's era. His music his band. So awesome seeing these great photos of everyone.
Welp…this depressed the fuck out of me. On the flip side…I literally just got home from driving slowly on my motorcycle with a brand new SA-126 tied to the back. They’re absolutely wonderful guitars. Thanks Eddie and Wolfie.
5150 looks very quiet with out Eddie. What a shame that when someone leaves every thing simes to go quiet. You don't no what you got until it's gone and there's no going back.
Aww I started out watching this with cold chills and ended up getting teary eyed. The best of the best miss these guys so much there will never be another van Halen love and miss you guys rip Eddie van Halen.😢❤. Now we have another awesome band mammoth wvh hope to see him in concert sometime.❤❤❤❤
Yes! @2:02 and 4:30 a ROCKMAN unit, designed, built & sold by Tom Scholz (SR&D) of Boston. Since the 80's I still have all 3 of my Rockman amps with that gorgeous distinct Boston sound : )
can anyone read what is written on the cymbal at 2:16 ? i assume the hard to read part is "find Ula" or "find Uli" or something similar but i don't know who AVH is referencing. Thanks
@@kristinfield-macumber5899 i think it says "3 Easy Steps to becoming a wealthy musician: 1. Practice 2. Practice 3. Find Oil Signed Alex Van Halen 02". so its a joke that you will never become wealthy by being a musician. so instead find oil (like strike it rich by finding oil on your property with an oil well).
Thank you for posting this. That was FANTASTIC! In my opinion also one of the GREATEST Van Halen 🎉 ever…PERIOD! So many on that 5150 album actually…but that one quickly takes me back to 1986 and the best times of my life! What a time to be 18! Saw them in Washington DC on 8/8/86. $15 and to this day one of the best shows I have ever seen! It will be very interesting to see over the course of the next 5, 10, 20 years what will surface (if any) of all that sacred material inside 5150 studios!
Eddie in 78': I never use pedals could never afford. Has a massive pedal board. Eddie in 91' I don't use many effects its all in my hands....has 2 giant racks of effects. 🤣 C'mon Ed.....give us a break..........
Awesome! Wolfgang is a lucky man to inherit that studio but need to hire a rocket scientist to work that equipment rack 🤣 EDDIE WAS THE GREATEST GUITARIST AND SAMMY WAS GREATEST FRONTMAN 🤘🏼
So sad seeing all that, a lifetime to make and so much music came from it. Now with Ed gone its haunting to see all that over. I know his son will carry on but Ed was a special cat, RIP.
How funny that someone said that there is nothing worth it , no unrealeased music but why the keep all those tapes behind the console? COME ON WOLF...GIVE ME A BREAK...
Wolfgang is doing amazing things there still. Wolfie is such a talented guy in his own right. It's awesome to watch him grow as a musician. Hopefully one day, he will catalog on release all of those tapes from the 5150 Archives before they get damaged from time.
Na I bet Eddie kept them in a proper environment to slow any decay. I’ve heard that happen to other artists, they go to remaster old reels and the tape turns to goop on the heads. Shame.
Thanks Wolf for sharing this amazing video..your pops had a major roll in my life and many others folks..gave us a chance to dream and even change our personal direction in life..I remember seeing the hide your sheep tour diver down I was a kid 14 I saw Edward and your beautiful mother Ms Valerie. .on the his side of the stage I was hooked..I went and purchased an Ibanez destroyer and a peavey amp..I took 4 lessons and I learned Pretty Woman Unchained little guitars...and in 6 months I was playing live at parties your Dad turned my nerdy goofball military kid to a rock n roll jamming dude ..I wouldn't change one thing from then on...I respect anc enjoy your music and most of all how you handle the people talking smack haha especially how you handle Roth haha my goodness he's so full of poo man..but Roth is Roth...Van Halen lives in all of us man...keep on killing it...and yes keep making them cameos w bands I just saw Loss control...my god you simply OWNED IT!! Pops is all grins!!! Love the V-H bloodline
Just wanted to point out one of those pics isn't from 5150, it's Eddie sitting in Frank Zappa's Utility Muffin Research Kitchen next to the ThingFish puppet! As a VH & Zappa fan, that was a nice Easter Egg!
