Loved this video! I’d be very interested to see a follow up after a few weeks. I’ve imported from them (the Ecuador site) a few times now with mixed results. And I also love the blue on you 😊
Awww thanks, it's one of my fave colours 😊 glad you enjoyed the video, yeah I think in a few weeks will do an update and like your experience I know for a lot of people the experience has been mixed.
Love that coarse “pon” mix. I’ve been loving mixing large perlite/pumice with bark and coco chunk chips. With my helicopter care style more chunks/air = more success. I love the deeper pots too. It’s hard to find that size/depth clear locally for me. Last spring I went to ecuagenera in apopka FL and got queen anthurium, palliduflorum, philo luxurians and they are all thriving. I am waiting for the prices to come down to try some of their anthurium crosses. Thank you for sharing another great video!
Awww see you are like me so that give me great hope that the corse mix will work for me too. Ohhh great selection you picked up and definately give it some time and the crosses prices should reduce, we have all seen it time and time again. So glad you enjoyed 😊 💚 🌿
My experience with imports are pretty similar, my anthuriums are rehabbing much faster than my philodendrons. I think it’s because anthuriums have hardier roots. My anthuriums were able to branching new roots out of the older roots and they were able to keep their leaves. Whereas my philodendrons roots simply just die off and would need to regrow from newer nodes, they would also drop the leaves they had because of the root loss.
Yeah I think that is likely going to be the same with my experience, the Anthuriums so far seem like they haven't skipped a bear, I think the philodendrons based on the roots I saw, might be dropping most of their leaves, but glad I did it finally to see what it was like
I found soil ninja at my favourite garden center and I squeeked when I found worm poo. Its very expensive from amazon and wanted to try a small bag. I've not had it long but I have added to a lot of my pots and I am a huge fan of worms. I'm the crazy woman that picks them up and saves them. I have their slow release feed too. But only on one plant which had not done much but that is so the plant not the feed. I wanted thier cactus mix too but I could not lift the bag. I will have to do an order as those pots are lovely. The plants you picked are lovely. I normally don't like what people order. I have not ordered out of the UK due to fear. But I've had plants and cuttings from the UK turn up in way worse condition then yours. But had a steplia take 11 ish days yo arrive last December and it was fine. I ment a friend yesterday and saw what she had with her and was oh shit where rhe hell is that gonna go. Its a huge monstera hehe. So having the where is this one gonna live. Its a fun game. And makes my years playing tetras worthwhile hehe Great video. Have fun and good luck
i got a swrpens as a tiny starter plant its steadily getting bigger. i. finding that buying smallest i can teaches me a ton, and i dont lose much if it dies. my warocqueanum starting gwoing, took a fall, the. got repotted and lost all but one, that 2as only 3" long. now its putting out another and the emergent is as long as the previous leaf and it's rolled still so. im hopeful!
You sure got some cool plants. The Anthurium Villenaorum is a really hardy one. Totally easy going. Just do not overwater it. Myself, I struck again by the black friday sale and ordered from Ecuagenera Europe 2 lovely plants. Plus 3 from Ecuador which I am waiting for. I have hardly got loss by my former orders and I am a maniac and put them in my living room straight away. ( I love the risk) LOL. Funny enough they all survived.
Hi :) El Choco reds are variable, a had some with pale greenish red abaxial and some with really nice red abaxial. The plant that has really strong red abaxial is verrucosum amazon sunset, it is georgous plant but difficult to shipp. But if you’ll rehab it it is really nice:)
Happy for you that they finally arrived, they seem in really good shape too…I will give ecuagenera another chance come spring hopefully a better experience than this previous ✌️
I am debating giving them Bother try, based on the plants arrived. But will probably decide closer to the time to see how the plants do after shipping.
I ordered a batch of plants from Ecuagenera Europe 2 weeks ago and they put in heat pack for me without extra cost.😊 Maybe lots of request about heatpack they have updated their service.
great video :) funnily enough I was thinking of trying to import warocqueanum from Ecuagenera just recently but a prospect of it scares me a little given the fact how dramatic the plant can be. would be interesting to see how you get on with it / maybe tips & tricks? :)
I bought a Queen from Ecuagenera and did an orchid show pickup in California. Paid under $30 for a seedling and it had one leaf like jelly - definitely shipped before being hardened off. Took 3 months and it just put out a beautiful perfect new leaf. The regale I bought from them had a yellow leaf that dropped immediately. And it is just a chonk still in the same 3mo span.
Slight addition spoken to Soil Ninja and they have informed me that their bags can be recycled at recycle centres that take carrier bags, which is awesome 👏 👏 👏 👏
The regulations about importing live plants are the same around the globe : NO SOIL and official phytosanitary document. I can imagine that Ecuagenera does not have growing facilities in Europe. Therefore, when you order from their "European" or other foreign site, your future plants already traveled from Ecuador to some kind of intermediate place and and will continue travel to your address either bone dry (without moss) or wet, rotten or frozen (with moss). The same sad story going on with POP UP orders. A big shipment is moving from state to state in US, and from one country to another in Europe. You are lucky if you live near the first stop ! I have ordered from Ecuador many times. But only the most desirable plants, so rare and unique that I will cooperate with customer service to pay for the most upgrade shipping, correct number of heat packs, scheduled delivery, etc. For example, I cherish my Geogenanthus with FUZZY RED HAIRED LEAVES. We have Ecuagenera's greenhouses in US but the assortment and availability may differ. So, if you are after low price and shipping, go ahead and get a "wet stick" from nearest Etsy seller, that is how your "import" ends up in many cases, had enough of it from China, Indonesia, other places. I love and appreciate all my Ecuadorian plants, and I remember how hard I worked to pay for everything.
I ordered anthurium luxurians and philodendron Amazon sunset & el choko red. We have ecuagenera here in germany, so it took only a few days to arrive. I was so afraid, because AFTER i ordered, i looked a lot of unboxing videos and got scared 😱 But my delivery was perfekt and as i could see, yours too. So beautiful!!
Great unboxing! Enjoy your new green babies and yes, please share an update after the holidays or so. Curious to see how your El Choco Red fares. Hugs and hi fives from Czechia!
I have used soil ninja for a while now. I usually get the giant base mix sack and add in the bark and extra bits I like because it’s so much cheaper. The base mix lasts for ever. Also the monstera at the end is just stunning, I’m to afraid to kill it tho 😂
Ohhh I would love to hear your feed back do they ship outside the UK ? Loving your background today and blue is definitely a great Color on you !! Whoa great unboxing 😮🎉😍🪴💚😀 loving all the plants and great B roll footage nice to see everything up close as I sit here getting ready to mount a stag horn fern in my own collection wish me luck 🍀 lol 😝 have a great day 🇨🇦
Awwww thanks, yeah I think they ship to quite a few countries around the world. I know that blue was a bit intense, but I thought why not I love bright colours. Ohhhhhh I hope the staghorn fern mounting is going well.
Loved the video Memo, really interesting with the Soil Ninja and yes great to get worm castings 😊 And all the luck with your new lovely plant’s… I have very stupidly ordered a Hoya New Guinea Ghost, luckily in the UK But 🥶 ! Us plant collectors can’t help are ourselves 😆
Awww glad you enjoyed 😊 💚 🌿 thanks hopefully they all settle in OK. Ohhhhh I hope the hoya arrives OK 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🍀🍀🍀🍀 I know it got cold all of a sudden. But hopefully hoyas are a bit hardier, so with any luck it should be ok as long as it is not travelling for many days. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Woah! The prices for those established plants are seriously that??? Right here it's not even enough to get a seedling for most of them! 😱 Nice! I really should try importing some. Been wanting a Serpens for the longest time and it's hard to get here.
Yeah I was suprised too, it was during a sake, but same as you here for some of those plants it wouldn't even buy a seedling. The serpens is gorgeous for sure. The only risk on import is if they go back to a chonk
@@Houseplantygoodness Ahh sale. I just checked the prices after watching your video. It was quite decent even without sale. But like you said, the risk factor. Although the anticipation can be overwhelmingly fun 🤩
@@Houseplantygoodness DPD is delivering mine tomorrow lol. Love all the plants you ordered although I can’t see what people see in that particular Monstera, probably just me, I do love the queen so everyone has plants that they prefer. I have my young queen in my living room that I try and keep around 55/60% humidity and purchased her from someone that kept her in a cabinet, so believe it is possible in yours for sure. I have everything crossed and 🙏🏼 all yours survive even if you don’t have anywhere to put them lol.
I was going through the footage during editing and didn't realise I was that excited, but to be fair I just got my 3rd order yesterday since filming a week and a half ago 😅😅😅😅 what have I done 😂😂😂💚🌿
I hope you get some bird's nest anthuriums, like cardboard anthurium or some other type of Pachyneurium. You might like the very thick leaves and orchid-like thick robust roots. They can grow very tall and no janky support sticks needed at all that's how thick the petioles and leaves are.
P. serpens is doing fine for me, but a month ago I found spider mites, near the leaf blades. It had slowed down. It seems more spider mite prone than other plants I have. Keep it in check and spray it often with soapy water. you got a very nice one.
"We don't do heat packs" Uh, I ordered last month (January 2023) and they added a heat pack. Although, it didn't work as the plants came completely and utterly frozen. I probably shouldn't have ordered a Philodendron Luxurians living in Wisconsin in the dead of winter - but I digress. They're sending me another order for free though, which I find extremely generous. I love Ecuagenera.
It is most unfortunate that you and the others from the UK who ordered experienced poor communication and delays from Ecuagenera. I'm sorry that you had that happen. I've done two import orders from them (Ecuador) to the U.S. and had great/quick communication with them both times from pre-order to post-order follow up emails. I'm not saying that to in any way diminish your experience but to say that I am surprised and disappointed on your behalf. The anthurium I ordered acclimated much easier and more quickly than the philos. In fact, I lost two philos over time while trying to rehab them. Despite that, I was pleased with the experience of importing from Ecuagenera. It's important to have realistic expectations (as you do) for any import orders and understand that the plants you receive are not going to be plant shop beautiful and may need time to acclimate if not rehab. I look forward to seeing an update video about these plants. Thank you for your channel and all the work you put into your videos.
Crazy with UK orders "Brexit makes everything better" 😑I ordered three plants last year and the Pedatum is awesome. The Effusilobum really suprised me and grows huge leaves.
Please please PLEASE do a update! I have found my ecuagenera plants tend to die back to stumps and have a higher failure rate then equaflora/Tropical Plants. Equaflora arrive as if they never went thru shipping for me, and I have not lost one yet 😊
Oh no, I have a serpens in chunks right now from them, it was only 2 leaves , it perked up in water but then had a meltdown , I really hope yours does better, killed the roots, leaves etc, I do have what looks like little nubs starting but wow it had a hissy. The 2 anthuriums are doing great though , first new leaf right now on both , provides some encouregement after the heartbreak with the other one .... that villenaorum is on my wishlist now, so interested to see how it does for you. Thank you for the video.
I really enjoyed your video BUT I wished you’d have moved it along during the unboxing and not dilly dallied and given a lengthy story time for every single plant a 1hr video is really hard to watch.
I unboxed an antherium pallidiflorum from Ecuagenera Europe yesterday. 2 big leaves, 61 and 57 cm without the petiole. To bad the "small" leaf is broken near the petiole but their customer service is excellent. They are sending me a new plant :) after I sent some photos. But I do live in the Netherlands, not the UK
I ordered from Ecuagenera Europe this year and my experience wasn't great. Eventhough the shipping only took three days, the plants were bone dry. Some of the roots were already gone. Obviously they forgot to water the plants before shipping. The package was very flimsy and the leaves of the philodendron were quite damage. They don't seem to care about plants or customer satisfaction.
Oh no I am sorry to hear about your experience, I know from a few people from the EU who reached out they came to an agreement with Ecuagenera, did that not work for you?
@@Houseplantygoodness The plants turned out okay after cutting off the dead stuff and watering them. But I'm a bit hesitant to order again. For now I'm more interested in more common plants anyways.
Question: have you ever delt with stem rot on Alocasia and how do you treat it? I lost both my tiny dancer and my Micholitziana. It's weird because both plants were very healthy and the roots were fine, even as the stem rotted. The stem didn't go black like with root rot. The leaves and stem stayed green. Really fast the stems turned very mushy and whole petioles started falling off until the whole stem collapsed, without ever turning black. So it wasn't like I could scrape off the dark parts and spray with peroxide. I'm pretty sure it was caused by me overwatering. I'm a cronic under-waterer then I over compensated 😔 How do you treat that? Thanks so much for any thoughts!
loved the unboxing! i have bought from Ecuagenera ( Ecuador site) several times and never had an issue with the plants themselves. it did take a long time ( 6 weeks drom time of order.. i live in northeast US)...but i expected that...i can't wait for spring for my next order.....🌱
I'm always excited to see import plants unboxing video, please make the update vid after maybe a month or so. In my experience after I bought many plants from Ecuagenera, some of them are declining after a few weeks even they arrived with healthy leaves & good root system, maybe they're just more fussy than the others. I hope yours are strong enough & have a successful acclimatization.
Very nice selection. I received my ecuagenera order on Friday too. Super healthy looking plants and huge too. I also potted them straight into soil ninja coarse semi hydro after soaking them for 48hrs . Fingers crossed they settle in ok . Good luck with your beauts mate and keep us posted with settling in updates
Good luck with rehabing the plants, I hope they will all recover from the transport well and soon🍀🍀🍀 I will be curious to see a follow up how it went both with Soil Ninja and the plants 🙂
Congratulations on the new plants! and good luck getting them settled in :) I am in the group that would enjoy an update video in a few weeks or months when you feel the moment is right. I really liked the Soil Ninja unboxing too - not available in Canada (yet?) but gave me a lot to think about!
What a beautiful haul ! I hope they all do great for you. Let me tell you, my queen has been in my living room, under 32% room humidity and it’s doing just fine. So I’m sure it will do great for you ❤
