I make the same mistakes, dumb or not, and have the same bad luck too. I don't think you're beating yourself up, you're simply being honest about the failures that happen in this life. This is one of the reasons you're growing to be my favorite Fishtuber. Your honesty comes across as genuine and helpful. Some of the biggest Fishtubers lose that when their channels get big, and they only show exciting, new, fun things on their channels. Its not real, and its not worthwhile to watch. Thank you for staying true!
Hi Nick, Great name btw (also Nick). With hypancistrus I was having the same issue and switched my methods. Wait for the fry to absorb thier yock sac then instead of almond leave use Mulberry Leaves as they are a bit softer. I let them rasp on those and small parts of wood for about two weeks. After that start feeding Spirulina for a 10-14 days for the next week or two start mixing in good protein foods. Once I started this method I only will lose fry ususally to my own mistake of not changing water enough. I hope this helps, keep up the great videos.
Hi Nick, thanks for the fish room update. Great to see all of the successes at the moment. You have to focus on these as the failed attempts are just par for the course. We all face those challenges. If there were no challenges, this hobby wouldn't be as satisfying as it is when something does work out right. The best advice is to learn from past mishaps and re-design your mechanical systems so that they are improved so that any failures are kept to a minimum. Keep up the good work and living the dream.
Ive raised 100+( L333 & L201) what i noticed is that they all stick to wood and eat the film on it, really early on. Even with yellowsack still on. So has to be a piece of wood that has started to get that biofilm. So ive started to Always have that and some moss/plant for protection for all my spawns.
Hey Nick I had a video idea for you, instead of hatching out brine shrimp try using moina eggs or magna daphnia they’re fresh water versions of brine shrimp and I believe they hold higher protein, they’ll also survive until they get eaten so there’s no way of them dying and fouling up the water hopes this reaches you
Hi Nick, for the L134 plecos if you want them to get colder you can freeze some water bottles and then put it in the tank, the good thing about this way is that if some fish need a low/lower temperature for breeding then this would be perfect and it only last for couple hours and then your tanks would go back to room temperature so it doesn't shock your fishes
Hey Nick, keep up the good work. We all make mistakes, and that's how we grow up, by overcoming them. Is life long process. If I were you, I will probably make mistakes even when I am 99. Your channel is so fun to watch because it FULL of life. It is awesome. Be yourself. You got my full support!!!
Hi Nick, please don’t let this get you down. Mistakes happen in everything we do in life, it’s where we go from the mistakes that makes the difference. I’ve only recently started keeping fish and yours was one of the first channels I found, and now it’s my go to channel to learn, and part of that is seeing the mistakes. You keep doing exactly what you’re doing, because what you’re doing is amazing. Thank you for all the help you’ve given me :)
Hi Nick! Thanks for another great video. A tip for the l134 breeding. My local plecobreeder keeps them at 26°c and when he wants them to breed he feeds them alot for a couple of days and then does a 20% waterchange with colder water (aprox 22°c). If you are having problems with males eating the eggs, keep in mind that some plecos get stressed out when you flash your light at them in the cave and that can trigger the egg eating. Love from Sweden 🇸🇪
Love the videos you’ve honestly inspired me to start posting my own videos… they don’t get any views but my RU-vid shorts are almost 100k total views so thank you for the Inspiration!
Loved the vlog buddy really enjoying the style . Sorry for your bad news but it’s only a mistake if you don’t learn from them , and you obviously have . If it was easy everyone would be doing it . Keep it up and hope you had a good Christmas 🤶
I know im going to sound weird but i think your breeding success is a cross between atmospheric changes particularily the rain storm/drop in temp but also check your moon cycle. The moon cycle affects alot of aquatic animals (and humans). Just track it if your interested, even though they are in a conrolled environment you will be surprised how much the moon affects behaviours and natural instincts
I feel you there I'm in Tassie and have 10x L007 vampires 10x L201 10x L333 10x L033 15x L397 All my favs and quite successful to raise fry easily. Took forever to get successful fry. Try DRP foods. I'm a stockist in Tassie for it. It's amazing Pleco food which help with fry and egg batches in every lay
U a good boy Nick! I like u tell us u mistakes, or even just the lil things, not mistakes but the things that are happening, problems that are just happening or when things aren’t where u want them to be! It’s good, it’s real, it’s informative! Thanks 🐶🥰
Awesome video nick! Please don't put yourself down , you are doing so well and everything in the fish room is looking healthy. These things do indeed happen mate , none of it is your fault. With regards to breeding Plecs I have a breeding pair of bristlenose Plecs and tbh I just leave them to it and so far they have been very good parents and I have around 100 fry and they have spawned again . Keep up the amazing work my friend
Good work bud keep it up!!! Just went to purchase some rams off ya but being bloody WA yet again I’m unable too!!!!!! Hopefully we are able to purchase in the future!
Nick you’re so awesome! Very informative and entertaining to watch but I have to listen at a higher volume so I can hear your voice but the background music makes it hard to hear and bothers the ears a little bit. Not sure if I’m the only one with this problem..
can remember selling the L46 for £8 English pounds cant believe the price know..when you think they were expensive when we first imported them about £40
Hi mate, I got a tip for you! since you have multiple groups of the L134 try to make different breeding setups in your tanks ;) some examples you can use: 1 cave per male, use all wood or all stone as hiding places, a plateau above the caves for example a flat stone that way I seem to breed my shy pleco's more easy I hope you have some succes soon 👌
ADD SOME POLYFILL TO HELP ABSOEB AMMONIA AS WELL IT CHANGES COLOR IN THE PRESENCE OF AMMONIA TO A PURPLECOLOR.SHRIMP BREEDER USE IT WHEN SHIPPING SHRIMPS.
35 or so years ago zebra pleco came into the UK at about £50 ! With wild caught the trick was long tank fast flowing tank then big water changes and temperature drops however it's now at many generations tank bred F20+ . If you are in Queensland make an outdoor fast flowing stream in a loop and throw them in not sleep worrying for 2 years if it works out you can retire 😁 just a warning old fish keepers go a bit Tropo 🤔
Thank you very much for your useful information. I'm using a triangular cube, will it be a problem for reproduction? I have been looking for fish for a long time, but I did not get any fry. I mean pleco L201 and L333.
Try and separate the caves for the plecos eating the eggs mate. Try moving them around so the entrance to the caves are not next to each other the Male feels threatened Good luck !!
Hi Nick ! Is there any specific reason you keep more caves than your plecos in your tanks? Shouldn't you keep one cave for every pleco or maybe even less since males need trapping?
Hey Nick any advice on raising black skirt tetra fry i have no trouble spawning fry but they drop off quick and left with a handful at the end which doesn't help with making my videos
Hello! This is way off topic and I’m sorry, but I’m new to the fish world! My question is about guppy fry. I have some that their tails are pointed rather than normal fan shaped! Will it rectify itself ? Is there something I’ve done wrong? Something I can do to prevent it in the future?
Hi nick, i want to get a hold of you. As i need some advice to get my midnight rams to spawn, im from Canada. I wanna try to breed them on mu water parameters without altering the ph and tds.
A tip for breeding your placo's, you might want to use bigger cages. I had a pair of bristlenose placo's that spawn each month in a big log and I left dad take care of the young. Once I say one of the young started to leave the cave I got them out. From just 1 female i got 120 young every month. I also came a cross this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sVxD17xj-4k.html video what was really interesting I don't no if you seen it or not. Good luck with it
