I've seen this before a few times with my husband. We were out by the lake one day, and I put on his sunglasses, and there it was. As the clouds would move, the colors would move down and down the cloud. It was very beautiful. I love dancing clouds. ^^
I saw one once similar to this on a clear (not chemtrailed) winter day. I thought it might have something to do with ice crystals. I'd wondered what it's called. Thanks for posting. It's beautiful.
I saw one of these hovering over Joplin, Missouri. I went back home to tour the tornado damage and there was this rainbow cloud I couldn't pull myself away from. We drove for blocks and even changed direction so my mother could see it. It hovered for a long time.
Yes, this usually means that this cloud has more water than usual and sometimes will have an effect on how much of the cloud is rainbow. Also, an effect that comes mostly after these clouds is an earthquake.
Hi Luna, I have seen these as what is called "sun dogs" during the winter usually seen away from two sides of the sun, or even as a halo around the sun. Also they can be seen solo any time of the year as long as the clouds are at a higher altitude. They are basically ice crystals in the air that are refracting light. I've seen these in North Dakota, Wisconsin, and even in Nevada, but in northern areas they are the most common.
@yourrrrtube Thank you for taking the time to comment! This video certainly has resulted in a bit of a debate with some people. Chemtrail? Chembow? It sure is interesting to read everyones opinions.
I have frequently seen "sundogs" or perihelions which form about 10 degrees above the horizon. These occur when the suns rays are shining through a patch of ice crystals or really cold air which creates a prism effect, splitting the ice into colors, looks like a short rainbow but has no arc/bow. I've seen these in Nevada, California & Oregon -- all in mountain areas.
@CYMA80 Thanks for your comment.....it does have many things that people have seen in it....faces...letters...numbers....I feel lucky to have caught it as it floated past our window.
@gisenberg I live off the coast of Maine. I run a passenger ferry so I am able to see lots of pretty cool things having to do with the weather. I happen to be sitting in my kitchen when I saw this. It really caused me to say "What the heck is that?!!" when I saw it. Thanks for commenting....I appreciate it! I have not seen anything quite like it since. I am always looking though!
@lollipop15321 Thank you very much! I wish I had thought to film more of it! But it did drift off and disappear pretty fast. Thanks for commenting and watching!
@brianoc10 Thank you for your comments! I was really lucky to see it. I was sitting in my kitchen having lunch and looked out the window and....What the heck is that!! I grabbed my video camera and there you have it. It was so vivid in color that it really caught my eye...that is for sure! Thanks again for your comment!
I think that the cloud must be very light and the size of clouds molecules is negligible in comparison to the the size of the sunlight's wavelength, so according to Rayleigh the seven colours of sunlight are scattered by the cloud
@GalaxyWalker02 I think it is about even so far, although I haven't tallied the results...between Sun refracting through high altitude cirrus clouds and Chemtrails...I think it is neck and neck. Thanks for commenting!
@MrDJSlimT I felt lucky to catch a plane flying nearby. Since he was above the clowd I don't think he would have been able to see it since he was not at the correct angle with the Sun. Thanks for commenting!
@tberch MAybe that is why they haven't stopped....I keep requesting more spraying here in MAine...I personally like the added colors in the sky. Thanks for commenting.
I see them a lot most days it is after I have cried. My father passed in 2010, and from then to now I see them after crying about something or getting up set. I do not know if it is a connection but I believe it is my fathers way of telling me everything is going to be ok.
wow, could be... that seems like a really cool thing to happen to you, but im sorry ur father passed in 2010, just when u see one of those, remember everything /will/ be ok =)
THIS MORNING I TOOK PIC OF THIS THING IN ILFORD, LONDON. 8 am. above the house was the same thing. sunny warm morning and rainbow in the cloud. And in one of pics looks like someone sitting, holding head and you can actually see wing on the back ;o thats amazing view
I saw a cloud rainbow like that when I was a kid. I saw it in U.P. Philippines. While my family and me were flying a kite, I saw a rainbow like a cloud. I called my family and pointed to the cloud rainbow. They were surprised, too.
@simsarethebest925456 There are lots of theories of "How", but my vote is the optical result of light refracting through the high altitude ice crystals. Thanks for commenting.
@djd1993 I happened to have my good video camera handy....they are pretty cool to see....I definately look up more often. I work on the water...So I hope to see one again. Thanks for commenting.
Man, I think that the person on the plane can't see because this visual effect is more of an illusion, even optical illusion that is only visible from below, not from above.
@Seophiee They are really cool. But don't let the other comments fool you...it is ALL about light and refraction. If you catch it right you might be able to see it. Thanks for commenting.
