Rare Revealed: Conker's Bad Fur Day Multiplayer Breakdown 

Personally, I think Conker's Bad Fur Day had the best multiplayer on Nintendo 64. The modes are pretty fun on 1 player, but with other people it's a freaking blast. Long live local multiplayer!

Beach was even fun to play against the cpu.

They forgot the regular death match. That was my favorite mode, since it mixed in a lot of the content and characters from the other modes, while allowing players to choose the levels they want to go into, instead of being stuck in the same map over and over.

Conker's multiplayer got me through my awkward teenage years and turned me into the man I am today. As a result, my lawyers will soon be in touch.

My god, Robin Beanland did such an amazing job with this soundtrack. I love his work.

If they had kept the multiplayer from the N64 version in the Live and Reloaded version, there is no doubt in my mind that Conker would be considered one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time. This game was so far ahead of its time its astounding.

I still play the multiplayer to this day!

Funny enough, this was easily my favorite multiplayer game in BFD. People look at me like I’m nuts cause this is the same console that had Mario Party, Kart, Smash, Goldeneye, etc. But DAMN, it was way too fun!!

I remember buying this game with it first came out for the 64 I had to go with my mom to get it. Oh the good ol days!! The best game I ever played!! This is what real multiplayer looked like!!

I have a bunch of friends that bought Rare Replay solely for the Conkers:BFD multiplayer in hopes it would be online. It is unfortunate there was no option or update to take it online. As an adult now most of my friends I played this with growing up now live in different states. We cannot do local MP anymore.

Just make a new Conker game, PLEASE! There's obviously an audience for it!

I love the mutiplayer in both conker games the n64 and the xbox remake.

I wish you guys will make this for the Switch but just as remaster, exactly the same game with multiplayer but with today's graphics... that would be the greatest thing ever!!

You just don’t get this kind of creativity anymore. Imagine if all of this was also in Live and Reloaded alongside the SHC vs Tediz mode.

War and Beach are definitely the winners. Especially War. I can't tell you how much time I've spent with my friends on the Teddy's vs Squirrels. That capture the flag level was just absolutely superb designing.

me and my kids have discovered conquer's multiplayer modes this year and we love it!!!

All the modes seemed so familiar but so varied at the same time such good multiplayer back in the day.

Beach and capture the flag was the only thing me and my friends ever played. We didnt even capture the flag, just killed eachother, and just picked that mode because there was no killcount score that ends the match.

i feel like they should have remade/remaster live and reloaded, the ability to choose different classes each with unique weapons/upgrades was far more enjoyable.

I kind of want a PC version of the multiplayer where you can play with others via internet or something

I only want to know one thing! Why was this version multiplier dropped in live and reloaded?!?! The original was so much better than the re-release.... Wished rare would release the ORIGINAL on Xbox 👌

Favorite was Capture the flag but be a traitor and gain the trust of the enemy and have the original cpu team try to kill you because you betrayed them

Conker in steam could be awesome. This game was strange, bizarre and mature, everything a child was looking to play. The multiplayer games was enough for a own game but in conker are just a side multiplayer gameplay for the story... can't believe how they put it all in a n64 rom. Well, now i play kenshi, same bizarre strange and mature but without the cute characters...

I never got to play the N64's multiplayer modes, but they all seem creative and varied. Heist in particular seems like loads of fun. I did quite enjoy L&R's Team Fortress inspired multiplayer mode, it seems like the Beach level here inspired the first map of L&R's multiplayer "story" portion.

They forgot to talk about Multi, where its all no holds bars anything goes mode.

The cheat codes were cool too. Playing as neo conker or Death was my favorite lol.

My favorite was definitely Capture the flag, weapon of choice? PEE! I really wish developers were this creative these days, but now everything has to be mature and serious.

I used to have a blast, even by myself, playing those.

I loved conkers

Me and my lifelong best friend would spend countless hours playing the beach multiplayer, me and him as sniper and rocket launcher vs the frenchies. That game felt incredibly hard and when we got annoyed at each other for letting the squirrels hit the plunger, we'd start blowing each other up. But on the whole it made us even better friends when things went well. Goood times.

This game is like no other.

This game was integral in my formative years. Ctf was great

The multi from BFD would be legendary if it was modded to have online match support. It definitely needs a little reworking with the controls and sensitivity (as it was designed with the very irresponsive N64 joystick and C buttons), but they are so simple and hilarious that everyone would be keen to ignore its dated graphics. I mean, 21 years later and I still have a laugh whenever I play deathmatch and the war mods against bots!

i loved the Heist mode the most, it has some sillyness to it that made me chuckle

Useually when i have friends over we would always end up playing the CBFD multiplayer. Good times.

This game was addictive. Splatoon 2 kind of reminds me of Conker's multi-player (fun)

I just got a great idea. Multiplayer online emulation. What do I mean you may ask. Well let's say you boot a game up with a online party and you choose whose controller is emulating which n64 controller port. Just give it that classic local multiplayer with a nice new modern twist. Who honestly wouldn't like this? It can only improve considering you don't have to force anyone to use this functionality. Then just add mics and it'll be just like your friend is there with you playing. I'm guessing you guys have probably already thought about this but I just want this out there. lol

Both conker multiplayers are awesome. But I wish they were in the same game

Man this takes me back. Lot of good memories with this game. Surprisingly this game aged fairly well. Unlike Super Mario 64. (Disclaimer: I am not saying Super Mario 64 is bad)

Easily the best game on the N64 and that Rare ever made.

Could you imagine if Rare created a PC title for online play. The arenas are way too small for 50+ players. This is where it gets interesting, Rare would need to open up story mode maps to contain players. Non stop gameplay 😳. Well off course unless they locked players at 16 :/

Any reason why, out of the 20 different multiplayer characters available, the small Tediz is the only one that takes no fall damage? (It takes 1 damage for falls that would normally splat all other characters, and even lands on its feet (while still taking the 1 damage silently) if the Katana is equipped. This completely unbalances the War modes, especially Colors, as the Squirrels can't drop down with the Tediz Flag without falling over and taking damage. On another note, the Colors map isn't symmetrical. Does this affect the game balance? Does the terrain give one side an advantage? It's hard to say, but the Squirrels may have the advantage there, as the chain gun and Sniper towers seem to have a better view from the Squirrel side. But that's not certain, and is it enough to overcome the Tediz fall damage advantage?

Man, if Conker was made today, there's a few possibilities that the multiplayer mode could have gone: 1) The multiplayer modes were the entire game, there was no single player 2) The game shipped with just one mode and the remaining modes were released as (paid) DLC.

I'm very particular even when I played as a kid the dinosaur and cavemen bugged me cuz they didnt co exist with each other

I feel it's such a shame that the facial animations actually done for Perfect Dark (N64) didn't make it into the final game. Would have been an even better game. & Then I've been wondering: could they have included them at least into the Rare Replay version?
