@@smb5246 nope, the random but lucky variables that made rareware, rareware, do not exist, you will have to keep those magical memories, and thats ok. Imaginste rareware getting together again, still a different world today, they prob have families now and the world has changed. It wont happen im sorry
N64 remains awesome in my eyes too, more awesome than ever now that I'm older...and if people try to tell me it's just rosey-colored glasses, I'll just say that, well, hindsight can be 20/20, and it's not just nostalgia because some favorite games I've never really quit playing.. or actually love even more now... It was a good time for Nintendo, as well as Iguana, Rare, eurocom, and id...all of whom supported Nintendo's console with their different brands of brilliance. Of course, sadly, only a fraction of some of those houses still stand, so-to-speak. P.S. we might be a bit OT hah
@@Daniel-xi8xe I definitely don't think it's rose-tinted glasses. I can still go back and play N64 or PS1 games and enjoy them. I think that era of games was the perfect balance of complexity of mechanics and simplicity of play.
@@riflemanm16a2 Sounds right to me! Same applies to graphics from then: everything was probably a major consideration whether it even made it into the games or not at times. It had to take a lot of ingenuity to make something as impressive as Star Fox 64 (early as it was), f-zero x, or of course Ocarina of Time... Case in point, all those games had their different strong points not all that similar.
It'd be pretty cool if they also ported it to the 3ds with improved graphics like they did with Star fox and Zelda 64. I'd buy that even though I still have the original.
Rare has produced handheld games for Nintendo since Microsoft bought the company. Offhand I can recall Diddy Kong Racing DS and Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. Basically, there was a time where Microsoft was testing the waters on a handheld system, then suddenly scrapped the idea of doing a handheld system. A couple of games were produced from this experiment, which were released on the GBA and DS.
Although you may never read this Rare, of all your IP's released during this era, this game probably deserves a remaster more than any of them. With the exception of this and Blast Corps, all of your other N64 games have received a nice current gen makeover (Yes, I'm including Conker: Live and Reloaded). While a Rare Replay upscale to 1080p is serviceable, this game is BEGGING for a Perfect Dark level of remaster, If not by you guys then outsourced to others, like 4J Studios with Perfect Dark. I don't want it to sound as though it's merely ungrateful begging, but just look at this game. LOOK AT THIS GAME! A work of musical and graphical art that deserves it's just due. Perfect Dark was one of my go-to games on the N64, and the remaster not only made it EVEN BETTER, but it put Perfect Dark in contention for my favorite game of all time. Jet Force Gemini Is a criminally underrated masterpiece that, if given a proper face-lift, would get the recognition and receive the accolades it sorely deserves.
I totally agree. A Perfect Dark level remaster or remake would be amazing. GoldenEye 007 did not get a real remaster either, unfortunately, but I do not think that will ever happen because of licensing issues.
I love how you do material about these games made almost 20 years ago! They totally deserve it. Even now, watching this, I am amazed watching the game's graphics and don't need to mention the soundtrack and every sound effect doing a complete atmosphere. And now learning how you did it... man... You really made art !
Definitely underrated, one of my fav N64 titles. I remember being completely immersed in this game and have alot of nice memories of it.. And then that soundtrack, I still listen to it from time to time! Thank you Rare!
Definitely one of the best games on the 64, games like this marked many childhoods including mine, you guys did an awesome job with it and should be proud of how it end up, but that was to short!! i wanted to know the secret behind the empty tiny room in the spacestation!! XD
The music in this game is amazing! I still listen to it till this day! Thank you Robin Beanland! Can't wait for a remake or remaster of this gem of a game!
Not sure why everyone talks about a sequel, remaking the original altogether with updated graphics would be better. THEN the sequel. Younger gamers aren't often open to playing older games specifically because of the aged graphics. Back in the late nineties the graphics looked great, but of course like every 64 game it looks blocky now. Getting a new generation hooked on the first game if it's remade with updated graphics will open the doors for the sequel to be made.
Yes, bad gameplay too, like just now, very late and i am searching how to beat, same problem happened in morrowind, i never beat those games because there where not a arrow showing where should i go, it has to be hollow knight criptic level so i don't need internet guide, i really think that ship parts scattered was a big down
I agree with having the game be remade with better graphics. Also, improving the control scheme to be more modern would be nice, and to have the game play at a smooth 60 FPS, or to have the framerate run uncapped on PC would be awesome. Also, I would love to hear the soundtrack remade at a higher quality with real instruments. Then after that, as you said, I would love to see a sequel. Of course, this is all just a fever dream, unfortunately.
Agreed, remake would be better just for the controls. I have a teenaged cousin who would love the game, but when I had him play it he couldn't get past the clunky controls
If you could give us the fans an spiritual successor we would be all happy to receive it no matter when it comes out, i myself have been waiting a really long time for it.
OMG please make a remastered version or better a sequel absolutely loved this game growing up ..... not to get to personal but I didn't grow up with a lot of money so this was the only game we had and I played the hell out of it never was able to pass it but man I would just replay it over and over again
Well you were late by the moment you posted this comment there is already a remastered versión called "Rare Replay", which has many 64 games games remastered and fitted with better controls for the xbobx one, and for only 30$ at the moment it got released, now you can find it way cheaper.
This game was SOOO good! I never understood why it was one of the more obscure titles. Did it get low sales or what happened, it was a great game. As a kid, I essentially beat the game, made it to the last fight vs Mizar, but during that fight you have to play as Juno... and I played as Lupus in some of Junos planets, and picked up all the homing missiles and other weapon ammo cartridges so I had like no ammo as Juno to kill Mizar. But I picked the game up again when i was a bit older and ended up clearing it, felt so good cause I got to see the end credits!
My favorite game of all time. The music in it is legendary, have so much fun killin bugs, watching them splatter green/rainbow blood everywhere while trying to save every cuddly bear from gruesome death. Best game ever!!!
One thing you didn't know. I lived near rare back I the day and I preordered jet force Gemini from them. These were the days before preorders were a thing. And they sent me the game way before release date in a special black rare box with special rare tape sealing it and a personalized thank you card inside. Also pretty sure it was a limited edition game cart. Iv since tried to get in contact with them regarding this and they have no records from that era now. It sucks they have lost their history after Microsoft took over.
Hi,this is for sure,my n64 favourite video game,I can't imagine my childhood without it I passed the game at 100%,yes,including both cyborg stag and greenwood village Really a good job the one you did,a shame it was so underestimated But there's still a thing which bothers me,why didn't you include the zombie ant in the multiplayer mode?,it would have fitted so well... The fact male characters could walk on lava and the female ones could dive was an epic thing as well Before I finish...Were the Floyd Missions supposed to cost Mizar's Tokens or is it just my imagination? I would like you answer to both of my questions and again,You did a real good job,Greetings
Such a good game, I'm always googling to see if there is a sequel in the works... always disappointed to see no information and only rumors... but I can have hope that one day it will happen!
Only reason I couldn’t beat this bastard the first 10 times is because I didn’t have even homing rockets and the only reason I didn’t have enough homing rockets is because my dumb ass grabbed the ammo packs in that lava area with Lupus instead of with Juno like you’re supposed to do. I can’t remember the level though could be one of the ships, either SS Anubis or Sekmet.
One thing I do know about Jet Force Gemini, dead due to Microsoft. :( couldn't even release Rare-Replay on PC for the Microsoft store... JFG with mouse and keyboard sounds sooo fun.
We need a reboot of this game with enhanced graphics with orchestral music with more badass weapons and a space quest to bring Floyd the heroic drone back to life
I was able to grab my N64 copy and I am going to rediscover my love of the game and my hatred of the twin mantis boss. 20 years of those bastards laughing at me will end soon!
This is needed now please rare revisit this I guarantee it will be a hit concept Is very much something that will be well received!!! Thumbs up this comment so it can happen!
Last night I completed this game on a Japanese N64 (Star Twins). For some reason I couldn't collect the ant heads. +Rare Ltd, is this a regional difference with the US version?
I never did play this game. I need to find a copy for a my N64 collection. But this game has a Rachet and Clank feel to it. Not a fan if platformer with shooting in it.
