DVD's will never be "obsolete", because 4K re-masters are ruining movies. DVD's and early Blu-rays are the last format to keep films looking the way they did, theatrically instead of throwing massive color-grading and smeary 4K faces on everything. DVD's are *extremely* collectible now and becoming even moreso. People are sick of 4K's destroying the look of films. The "Lord of the Rings" DVD sets, for example are the only way to watch those films now the way they looked in the cinema, as the Blu-rays and 4K versions washed them all in green color grading and they look like shit. 4K blu-rays erase ALL of the fine details in people's faces and even the sets and smears it all, as well as totally erasing the original film grain, so that movies that were shot on film now look too clean and digital, which takes away half of the entire look of the films. 4K is garbage. I only buy DVD's now, as I prefer to watch movies as they were intended to look, not like a smeary, color-washed, digital mess.
