Actualy a good way to balance this out. Because now you have a "milestone" - if you play Scorpion with less then 8 exc - you don't feel as good, if you stuck on 7th exc its even worse and if you on 8+ you happy if you get high cost big stuff. But with this gradual cost reduction it would make a more consistent and pleasent to play card - if you drop it right away you get some value and cost reduction, if you drop it on ~6 exc you still happy and on 8+ you are happy too (and then even getting to 10 feel more good because now if you get something stupid that cost 10 - you still feel that "Huh, it would cost 2 if I was on 8, but now its free, nice!". So, again, you just more happy to play this card in any point of the game, not just "ok, I would keep this cool effect in my hand just to maybe get to 8 exc.. That could even not happened if I would be unlucky... So I wouldn't play this cars..." and, again, if you decide to do it - you could still get screwed buy getting like 4 backstabs that, wow, nice, cost 0. And yeah, this situation is still possible with your fix, but there it is only FeelsBadMan situation that you didn't get as much value as you could, but it fix this threshold problem when you either get effect fully or doesn't get it at all. And counting how every other Azerite creature is working - I think it wouldn't be out of place if you get a - 4 discount out of the bat.

@@Dreadnote-pf7of given how insanely fast rogue is going to be at excavating compared to other classes, I'd honestly be massively against this since it makes Scorpion almost as good as the other Azerite minions but at half the turn count, nobody wants to deal with scorpion shadow step scorpion 8 spells discounted 4-5 cost by like turn 4 or 5 + the insane tempo from just playing all the other treasures

that's what i'm saying, powercreep isn't always a good thing and the games been powercrept enough, rogue being balanced around shadowstep in every step of standard helps the class stay more balanced overall. if it's bad in standard think about wild. @@hejhejaske

But you could also balance the class around it not having shadowstep. This 1 Mana bounce that leaves the minion stats on board seems like a more healthy shadowstep, rogue still got that identity with cards like that. Idk it's a question of taste, and I think shadowstep is a well designed and fun card, but it annoys me too much for too long now already.

it's been with the class since 2013 and is a core part of said class. It's a part of the power budget. @@darthskixx2263
