This happens at all colleges. He hit the nail on the coffin. THEY ARE THERE TO GENERATE REVENUE FOR THE SCHOOLS. Colleges who benefit millions/ billions of dollars

To be clear, this is such an isolated incident for Carolina. If you go to UNC as a non-athlete, like I did, you work your ass off, no special treatment. I transferred from another 4 year school, and to be honest it was like transferring into Harvard based on what I was used to. Kids that can't get into UNC can't get in because of scores and GPA's, not because they couldnt figure out some "system" to cheat their way in. Dean Smith and Jordan started the athletics tradition that still holds true today before the paper classes even started. It was basically one department responsible for this, due to one former disgruntled graduate. Having tutors assist you with a paper isnt wrong, but its pretty hard to imagine EVERY SINGLE PLAYER on the 05 team didnt write their papers (and that they ALL took AFAM paper classes), which would probably justify removing banners or taking away titles. The reason UNC is always under scrutiny is because they have THE BEST and most TOP RANKED major programs of any other public school in the state. Best MBA program , Med School, Public Health, Athletics Programs, etc. You find some dirt at UNC, because UNC is naturally a target in the state of north carolina. They've been a target long before this scandal, due to success. All colleges have hidden scandals, but no one probes unsucessful colleges for dirt, only the good ones.

I agreed with they all have similar!!!! I went to UNC I even have some of these classes on my transcript so I know he is definitely not lying. I was around the basketball guys since 2006

The guy is a head case, that’s it. Would rather see the university burn than take responsibility for the fact he couldn’t pass any classes without “paper courses” that all colleges provide to general pop.

For the record I took one of the so-called “paper classes”, and yes it required a term paper but also a _cumulative_ final exam, graded by a distinguished emeritus professor, in terms of content it was as academically rigorous as any of the live classes in which we were enrolled, perhaps even more so.

McCants was the ONLY former player to make these allegations. He’s the one thug who was important to the basketball program. If this is true, why wasn’t there a SINGLE other player to say so? He didn’t like Roy, and Roy didn’t like him, bottom line. Finally, the NCAA did not penalize the UNC basketball program. McCants himself said Williams had the talk with him, and warned him that he was in trouble. The University of NC will not allow you to graduate by taking the same class over and over. The final proof: ask McCants if you can see his diploma. He doesn’t have one!

A lot of people be like "oh, Rashard is just seeking attention." No he isn't. Dude spits truth. Let me explain what is going on with student athletes. They are there to play ball and generate revenues for the school so they can have more money to recruit coaches and students. Ben Simmons don't go to classes, Joakim Noah didn't either. If someone goes to class, then they won't pass. But how did u think those people who don't go to classes passed? Answer is simple, cheating. It goes on in every major school and everybody knows. It is like an secret that everyone knows but no one says. It happened in duke, UNC, Florida, Kansas. List goes on. This kind of thing is very common

It says independent studies by the courses; so not going to the classes is not a big deal. Having someone write papers for you is a problem.

A former North Carolina star basketball player got straight A's and made the Deans List. One slight problem, he got 4 A'S and never went to class. Rashad McCants attended paper classes where every student got an A! These African American Classes lasted from 2001 to 2007. Hundreds of black athletes got A'S; even their tutors wrote their papers. What has the NCAA done: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Tonight the NC Basketball team and their disgraced head Coach Roy Williams are playing in the Semi Finals of the NCAA Basketball Finals. This is the worst academic fraud case in College History and they are still playing. What an absolute disgrace. This popular coach of course should be fired and the North Carolina basketball program should be given the death penalty no playing for 5 years! Ask the SMU Mustangs Football program how they feel about it! The USC Trojan football team received penalties for 6 years because their Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush took $300,000 from a sports agent to buy his parents a home. Clearly taking money illegally is far more grievous than granting bogus A's to hundreds of black athletes to keep their grades up so they can play. What hypocrisy!

Most of these guys aren't even there for school. They're there for UNC to help them get into the NBA and most never even use their degrees. So what he took classes that were available. He knew those classes prob weren't gonna get him doctorate or make him an engineer. You can take what classes you want. You can take a golf class at UNC. But it's not gonna help you much if your a basketball player. Let's not act like this is high school. These are adults choosing their own classes.

Absolutely and didnt need him in 17 & wont need him in the next how many other ones the will get over the years McCants was just trying to get his 15 minutes cuz his career didnt turn out they way he wanted it too. It tells u a lot about his character, to try & drag your own team down, that's crazy messed up & it's funny how he was the only player to say that , that should be the first clue of how full of crap that sellout is. Now he has to live with himself knowing what he has dont to his brothers & one the best coaches of all time. But in all reality it probably won't even bother McCants, cuz that's who he is & doesn't even know the definition of loyalty, but look at him now of wait u cant cuz nobody even knows where he is & most people dont even know who he is, it's a shame that he could have been a part of something very special & have bonds that will last a lifetime & be fortunate enough to experience something that very few people on this planet will ever get to experience in their lifetime & it's really sad to see that happen especially when there are some many kids out their that will just never get in front of the right people to go to college & possibly further but have the skills to do so but r not fortunate enough to have been born in the right circumstances but just the opposite, which is truly really sad, but its reality & the world we live in . Then u get to be one of the very few lucky ones to get that opportunity & what's McCants do, he ,just throws it away like his brothers, coaches & UNC meant nothing to him. All though I seriously doubt someone like him will ever regret it cuz he is just really is that guy who doesnt care about anyone but himself, but I hope someday he does realize what he did was wrong & regrets it, but like I said I do think it will happen.

I'm not sure what kind of punishment the NCAA could give to UNC but if more than 10% of the student body are involved in academic fraud, they should shut the whole university down. I know that wouldn't be fair to the other 80-some percent that are making their grades honestly but if the administrators paid more attention to what was going on, it wouldn't have gotten this bad.

Done what is the question? The way I see it the guy did what the class called for. Is he gonna be able to become an engineer or a doctor because he got As on some AF AM classes? Prob not. He took what he took. That's the education HE chose! Just because it's an option for people shouldn't be an infraction. You can take a golf class and get your grade up. But it's not gonna help you in the real world much. These guys don't care though because all they are wanting is to use UNC to help them get to the NBA right? It's not necessarily about school for them. Most will never even use their degrees.
