@@jdpandit534 Whose Mother tongue?? Certainly not every Indian's mother tongue is Hindi. If you mean to say Hindi is the national language then I'll say well sir, you are grossly misinformed. There is no national language in India. 22 Official languages are prescribed in the constitution. That includes Hindi, Urdu, Samaskrutam (Sanskrit) and the other major regional languages. English is the international language. Because of the overwhelming use of Hindi and English, there was an amendment done in the constitution where in Section 343 states that Hindi and English will be called the working languages. So in addition to any state's official language, for easy communication one should know either Hindi or English (Both would be ideal but not compulsory that you should know both the languages). So mostly in the North of India along with any state's official language Hindi is used and in the South and North East of India, along with any state's official language English is used.

Then of course if you are willing to go back to the old days Hema malini, Rekha, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Vyjanthi Mala, Padmini (Jis desh mein ganga behti hai Raaj Kapoor's movie) all of them could speak excellent Hindi. As for the current generation of southern stars, there is a person called Ajith Kumar from the Tamil Industry (Vedalam, Vivegam). His Hindi is excellent. He acted with SRK in a movie called Ashoka.
