Recorded live at The House Of Blues Sunset Strip, this is the only HD live version of the band's classic "Go All The Way"! omnivorerecordings.com/shop/p...
I just heard the news that Eric Carmen passed away today (Mar.11, 2024) at the age of 74. I'm so glad I got to fall in love with this band, and 40-some years later, I'm sharing The Raspberries and the voice and songwriting talents with my daughter. Thanks, Eric.💔
My first rock concert was Eric Carmen and The Raspberries back in 1972. "Go All The Way" was in the Top 10 on the radio! They were so cool! Thanks for the great music over the years! You will be sorely missed! 💔
This song was one of my many anthem’s from my Jr. High years, a very special time in my life . Still don’t understand 50% of the lyrics….but if Dick Clark would’ve asked, I’d give a 92 for the beat.
I started watching this fully expecting to see another old rocker who had lost his voice stumbling the way through a song from his past, but this was remarkably good.
I have Carmen in my top 10 pure voices in Rock. Just IMO. But understand I’m not saying who was the best frontman. Freddie. Elvis. Dennis Deyoung. Lou Graham. Paul Rogers.
He fell by the wayside from 1979 to 1983 when he should have been pumping out the hits. He was so much better than some greasy goon Billy Joel with his third grade piano playing that appealed to the lowest people
When you're this good after 50 years, you should never have to think about retiring or quitting. Damn, they sound so good and brought back many great memories. Couldn't wait until that song was played on the radio back in the 1970s. Thank you for posting this memory.
@@markme4 If you knew the original recording and you watched this video, you couldn't possibly make such an idiotic statement. Go somewhere else to troll. You're not welcome here.
I was with you from the very beginning when we rode the number nine bus down Mayfield Road and wrote songs on the way to Cleveland State University. Our years at Brush high were fantastic, and provided the seed that was planted ..that enabled you to prosper and grow into a musician that gave millions of people, pleasure and enjoyment . I will always cherish those years that we were together.. that sent you on your way. Now rest in peace and know that you will be remembered. Tom Hennie
Yeah I heard that Eric Carmen passed away today , and my heart is broken , because Eric Carmen was my childhood crush when he was in the singing group THE RASPBERRYS back in the early seventies ❤❤❤ Rest in Heavenly Peace ❤❤❤
@@user-rz8bu6vl8x I can understand that. These people entertain us become part of our lives even in a small way. It's a big loss to us all. But we can still come here and listen. Buy his music and keep the memories with us.
I have to say, this song kicks ass. IT is totally rocked out and adrenaline filled, but it has a way to conger up that romantic emotion that is very hard to do. Great tune.
It's 10.30pm Tuesday night 12/03/2024 and I've just flicked the T.V. over to Ch 9 in Sydney. They were showing The Raspberries "Go all the Way" I thought "Why are they playing that?" "Is Eric touring soon?" Then I thought "Oh no he hasn't died" "Has he?" My fears were confirmed by the news voice over person. "Eric Carmen was 74" Now I can't stop crying. Not only did Eric help create one of the greatest, mind blowing Guitar riffs in Rock history, he then composed some of the most tasteful Ballads of all time. Good quality Ballads are extremely hard to write. Thanks for the great music and the brilliant singing voice Eric. Eric lived a successful existence and died peacefully in his sleep. "Come on Baby!!!" RIP - Eric Carmen
@@LeadSurge3000 Australia is ahead of the USA in so many ways and when it's the 11/03/2024 in the USA it's the 12/03/2024 in Australia. I'll put another shrimp (prawn) on the barbie for you.
Unbelievable!!! They still sound amazing!!! Hey kids take note! THIS is talent!! Not talking fast over a mic and cussing every other word degrading women.
It's a great feeling! I play drums and a friend's son plays, so I played more than a feeling blasting out of those speakers. Yep. For 5:30, I was 15 again.
It breaks my heart that such a great talent has left this world. Eric Carmen was truly one of the greatest songwriters and artists of our time. You are with the angels now Eric and your sweet voice will never be forgotten. I wish I had been one of the fortunate ones to see you in concert.😭😭
I was there! I scored a backstage (actually up the stairs) pass and was able to speak at some length with the fellas, and for a little bit with Eric. Without question, one of the best nights of my life. Thank you to the lads who gave me so much joy through the decades.
Well that's a fine rock n roll story! I am envious (in a good way). I can't imagine that they ever sounded better, even in their heyday. Eric Carmen was in fine voice, and the guitar player, totally rocked out. Great stuff.
Heard this for the first time on the radio in January 1973 when I was 9 and had just gotten home from school. Was stuck in my head the whole weekend and I've been cranking this one to 11 ever since. Thank you Eric God Bless🙏
Heard the sad news. I honestly remember being 6 years old summer of 72 hearing this on the radio at home in the background. My brother was 15 and I thought he was saying far far away. As an adult when Dirty Dancing came out I went back to learn about him and was blown away when I found this song again. Genuine hit maker and he left his mark. A legend
This concert in 2007 was 35 years after Please Go All the Way was a hit in 1972. This was amazing! Talented musicians and singers with the great Eric Carmen as their frontman. So many memories come flooding back to me of my freshman year of high school. It was a great time musically and culturally to be a teenager (for me; I realize everyone's experience with the past was different). RIP ERIC CARMEN
I'm Japanese and currently a high school student. This song was used briefly in the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. I found this song by looking at it. It's a very good song!
Wow, after all this time, his voice never lost a thing. He was having a good time too. He was so adorable. Eric, you are loved. Your music brings me great memories. Thank you for your music.
The man had incredible range. From the rocker Go All The Way to the ballads All By Myself and Never Gonna Fall In Love Again, he was an immense talent. RIP Eric.
When I was a kid, I was skeptical of any popular music (including Beatles) so I dug into discount racks & used CD bins to find bands I didn't hear anyone talk about. Finding the Raspberries was a treasure. I could hear what they did with their Beatles influence, and I figured I could give those other guys a listen too. Thanks for that, Eric Carmen! Rest in peace. 🤎
They sound closer to the record 50 years later LIVE than they did on live performances I have seen 50 years ago. Amazing!! Eric Carmen was right when he said: "The Raspberries are a better band now then they were then."
I saw the Raspberries at Ohio University in 72 or 73. Hard to believe Eric was only 24 or 25. I really just wanted to hear this song. Hearing it live I knew I was privileged to be there. Its not everyday that you get to experience a classic in person. Such a wonderful, beautiful, song. Words cannot express how I feel about this song. The incredible harmonies. I believe I left after the song was over. RIP Eric.
Oh, you were so lucky to see him at OU!! I didn't know he sang this song until today! Great song, great University! I'm an OU '83 grad. R.I.P. Eric Carmen😢
@@kellycronin7580He had other top 10 hits but this I think is his best song. His voice was decent in this video but at 24 it was so much better. It's ironic that you have the same name as Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon. Probably my favorite band ever next to the Beatles. Kevin was heavily influenced by the Fab Four as was Eric. I can hear the Beatles in this song. I don't think that was by accident. The REO ballad "Can't fight this feeling" and "Go all the way" are in my top ten of all time greatest song's. I'm still freaking out that a K Cronin responded here You can't make it up!
@@gregjackson-ks1gh I have a brother named Kevin Cronin, but not the singer unfortunately!😆 This Cronin family is from mid-Ohio. But thank God, I live in FL now! I did love Ohio U. I saw Neil Young, Paul Young & Billy Squier there.
Another of the great ones gone, but never to be forgotten. Hopefully the RRHOF will put Eric in for Musical Excellence at some point, there is no doubt he was deserving.
It’s like the thousandth “first time” I ever heard this incredible tune. It barely gives you a chance to settle in to a groove. Rockin’ from the get-go! Chicks dig it. Guys wish they could sing it…
The song is played in the same key as it was recorded and vocals are spot on. Groups that can't do that anymore should hang it up. I am SO glad I ran across this video. Excellent! 🤩
I agree. It's very difficult to exactly duplicate the studio recording, especially with instrument effects, acoustics, and so forth. Good job, and the vocals have the same tenor and tone as the original recording.
I clicked for the same reason. Was curious. They still got it. A rare thing for sure. A lot of acts are not even a year out of the gate before they start adjusting the key. They get away with it for a while, but I agree, hang it up before it gets embarrassing. They had their moment in the sun!
DAAAAAAM........ Watch Wally Bryson still slaying it on a double neck guitar - Outstanding!!! And Eric still sounds (& looks) Fabulous! THANX Eric, Wally, Dave & Jim for getting together & making a "night to remember" !!! We loved you then & still do❤
I interviewed them in 1971 as a cub reporter for the Los Angeles Valley News & Greensheet, now known as The Daily News. Looks like Eric Carmen and the boys can still rock 50 years later.
WTF just happened. I was completely blown away like I haven't been for years. I didn't expect Eric Carmen to sound 30 years younger than his age. Older rock bands just can't pull off what Eric just did. I got chills listening. And no it's not in a lower key. Simply amazing I'm inspired by this performance. Can't wait to share with my older rock buddies. Eric Carmen -Amazing... Thanks!
@@julieeadie3105 , mostly, I remember feeling guilty about making out. I never went “all the way,” but I certainly felt guilty about all the petting, etc. I did go on to a bad marriage but two wonderful sons, though!
Actually had tears after the first 30 second. It hit me with a rush of emotion. Being a retired rnusician and also knowing this song very well I was blown away by their rendition 50 years later They have not lost one step in performance.. 👏👏
@@cthulholmhastur5317 Excuse me.. I posted that comment to the wrong video. This most definitely is a live performance. If you search there is a karaoke version of this song. But it sounds so dead on perfect I was wondering if it came from a karaoke library where they duplicate popular songs with real musicians, or it the vocals were simply eliminated.. Take a listen to how good this is -->ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nJHb5UKT5eM.html Now this one here is the actual recording with Eric's vocals slightly eliminated.. It's not perfect because you can still hear his voice bleed thru ---> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7duoUl0DtAE.html
What an absolutely class performance, bloody brilliant, even better live, not may artists can do that let alone decades later! ❤❤🎉 Oh no I’ve just heard that Eric passed away yesterday, RIP our brilliant and wonderful performer !
I can vividly remember being 12 years old and buying the single of Go All The Way, and playing it over and over and over. Those were the days when music touched heart and soul in a way that made you feel that anything was possible. Thank you Eric and Wally, and everyone else in the Raspberries, one of the most underrated bands of all-time. RIP Eric,; there were so many of us who were touched by your gifts.
I'm a lifelong Clevelander. Eric Carmen is Cleveland (grew up in the suburb of Lyndhurst) proud and never forgot where he came from! Pride of Brush High School!!! Go Archs!
R.I.P. Eric. This song is very special to me. Summer of 72, I was 17, she was 16. We did, it was beautiful and even though we didn't end up together, after all this time, I still think about her.
I remember their debut album with this song on it had a scratch and sniff raspberry on it. I loved that album and I will never forget that scratch and sniff. My brother still has that album. Eric Carmen RIP.
I had just graduated 8th grade and was starting to make the switch from AM radio to FM heading into high school. Of course all the family cars only had AM radios, so this and other AM hits were heard on car rides. This song was on jukeboxes pretty much everywhere. Dropped a dime in to hear it more than a few times.
I was 16 in 1972,The Raspberries were "The New Beatles"(as if anyone could be) but were a damn good band. I didn't get an FM radio till 1974,so all of my musical memories prior to that were on AM radio(WLS and WCFL in Chicago).
So very sad to hear about Eric Carmen's passing!! 😢 I will always remember Eric's great voice in "Go All The Way" and "Hungry Eyes"!! May you RIP, Eric! You are among angels now...! G.Reiss
Since I learned of Eric's untimely death March 11th I've listened for the most part to nothing else but songs from Eric's solo career and The Raspberries. Still cannot comprehend he is gone. Heartbroken.
When you can take the stage and play a song this well 50 years after it was released there is no doubt that you are THE REAL DEAL. The Raspberries were definitely THE REAL DEAL. I loved Eric Carmen's music and owned all of the Raspberries albums as well as his solo albums. I was surprised and saddened to hear that we lost him this month. So glad that his music has been part of my life. Heaven got a good one...RIP.
@@Phil1stalk Yeah but the song was a 1970s Raspberries song. Not too hard to understand, surely?? I dunno, perhaps you're trying to point out through 'apparent' inconsistency that I'm a liar, which would actually make you a garden variety tool.
When this came out I was in a 3 piece band playing 60's classic rock on Bourbon Street, I thought it sounded like a cross between Roy Orbison and Humble Pie and he was the prettiest man I'd ever seen, then Eric just kept em coming. This was a testament to his musicianship .
All these years, I've heard it a thousand times and it still sounds just like it did the first time I heard it in the summer of 1972 when I was 15!!! Rest in peace Eric, you were one of the Best!!!
I just read tonight that Eric Carmen passed. I am crushed... Part of my youth is gone... I remember just... digging the Raspberries. So much energy, and the poetry that Carmen wrote made my heart ache! The summer of '72, before my senior year, I saw them at the Tomorrowland Stage, Disneyland and they rocked it! So good! His voice was so pure. It solidified my lifelong love for him and the band. I love you, Eric. Rest in peace.
